I have seen it and im definitivaly gonna buy/preorder it when I get the chance. Hopefully it will run on my computer. ^^;

I have also quit World of Warcraft for personal reasons. Mostly lack of motivation and dedication to the game. Perhaps with Star Trek Online I can start really fresh and perhaps really get into the game. The only other game that I really did was Star Wars Galaxies untill SOE ruined it. -.-

I quit WoW months ago, mostly because it became too technical. Less like a game, and more like a second job. I hope STO doesn't fall victim to that.

My graphics card is toast, so I cant play STO until I upgrade or replace my computer.

I have been waiting way too patiently for STO, been keeping track for a long time now. I just fear monthly fees. I have no issue with buying games but a month fee is likely going to prevent me from buying STO

If STO's fees are too much, I will pry for a private server like WowScape !

And let us not forget all the 'grinding' that you ended up to do most of the time. I think that is what made me quit the game too ontop of lack of motivations. <.<;

And about STO... I think my computer can handle it since I recently upgraded my graphics card and it should run smoothly. Otherwise I may have to get either a new duo-core... or even a quad-core. :P

Sounds like a great game, but this game will have fees. lets hope they aren't too high.

As for system specs, it requires a C2D or AM2 minimum...

OS: Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista / Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 Ghz or AMD Athlon X2 3800+
Memory: 1GB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7950 / ATI Radeon X1800 / Intel HD Graphics

Not sure how much fun we are going to have with minimum requirements when they suggest so much higher for best results.

I need all requirements expect the Video card *cry*

AMD Dual core 4200
2 GB RAM (actually 1.5 since Windows 'gifts' 500 MB to itself)
Windows XP sp3 32bit

32 MB onboard ATI card, my toast Video card is ATI Radeon X850, 502 MB

It only took me 4-5 hours... was it really that slow? :D Yeah I know, its quite a big program. Like 10% of my total memory,..

Gosh, I WANT TO PLAY THIS THING! Once I got a job I am going to buy myself a computer and the game,...

I got this video card and I could play it smoothly in space, sometimes on the ground it can lag: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250. Although the big fan on it activates when I do run the game. ^^;

And lol Stryker!

I am playing STO and so far it's good. ^^ I am a Rear Admiral (Lower) (also used to be Commodore) now by the way. Im captaining the USS Freedom, NCC-911291-E, a Destiny-class Deep Space Science Vessel. And it is large and very nice, indeed fit for an admiral in the science department.

So everyone is Captain/Admiral on this game? That can't be fun? ;) :P

You start as an Ensign during tutorial, then you are a Lieutenant, then Lt. Commander, then Commander... ect. :P

The ranks shows how high up you are in terms of level. A Captain Grade 10 for example equals to level 40. You unlock titels you can display on your character as you wish, also new and more pips as you rank up. Heck, one can stay 'Lieutenant' title and rank pip on the uniform throughout the game if he wanted to. As a Rear Admiral, I can choose which pips to wear and the corresponding title according to RP. :P Some titles are unavailable at all levels, like Lt. JG., Ensign and Chief, although those ranks have pips that your captain and your BO's can wear on their uniforms.

Bridge Officers that you control never go higher than Commander, atleast so far. I tried to promote one of my Bridge Officers to Captain, but couldn't as Commander is the highest rank Bridge Officers can achieve in the game. This could be changed in the future of course, as Rear Admiral (Upper), Vice Admiral, Admiral and (possibly) Fleet Admiral aren't in the game yet (although said ranks are seen on certain NPC's that give you mission, such as Admiral Quinn).

I dont really want to double post in a dead thread, however I am currently leveling up alts in the game. Remember the Stryker character I made to take shots of? I am currently leveling him up as a tactical alt and specced him as Close Combat specialist....

He beat up Hirogen hunters like they were ragdolls. o.o Stryker's scaringly powerful in close combat with the right kit attached on him. Though he also has two phaser pistols he can whip out if needed.

So far he is at Commander 6-7 right now (which is about level 26-27 in the game). The type of ships I let him use are cruisers. At Captain rank, he'll be commanding an Exploration Cruiser: The iconic Galaxy-class. And once he hits the Rear Admiral ranks im going to let him command a Star Cruiser, as that line of ships are most similar to Pretoria in terms of looks/appearance. I am going to see if I can replicate the look as closely as possible with what I have in the game.

I have a few questions for either Angel or Kyruzix, seeing as both are STO veterans.

1 - I need to know what BOFF skills I need for my awayteam science/medical officer, so I die less frequently.

2 - How do I pull enemies, on awayteam missions ?

3 - How do I stay away from the front firing arc of enemy ships in PVP (especially Klingon ships) ?

4 - How do I farm EC and dilitium ?

Also ... There does not seem to be any Klingon science ships, expect the Gorn Phalanx Class. I am about 5 levels from Captain, on my KLI toon, and I'd like to stick with Science ships

I may have some answers, but not all.

1: A good BOFF medical officer is to have the following: Medical Tricorder (Heal), Vasular Regenerator (HoT), Hypospray - Dylovene (Buffs max HP, buffs Physical damage and cleanses toxins) and Hypospray - Melorazine (cleanses mental debuffs overtime, buffs Energy damage resistance and removes exposes from you).

As I am a science officer and also a healer (using Medic Kit Mk X, very rare quality) I dont need many more science officers.

2: Pulling enemies require some sense of tactics, both on how to position your away team and using enviroment. If you have a tactical officer who is tanky, use him to pull the group. If you can, use your engineering skills and other engineering BOFF skills to setup a minibase before each pull. Make sure your medical officer is shielded and back of the group, yet within range to heal if needed. This is how I pull my tactic, on the other hand, I am also a healer so you may have to tweak the tactics a bit more.

Also it comes down to what kind of mob. Some are smash and trash, but others require focusing so they dont become a problem or a lethal presence. Also when fighting the Borg later on, make sure you and your BOFFs carry each a remodulator in their device slots (the four slots just under the BOFF/your character in the character window). Atleast they are free to replicate and are not uniques. Because the Borg do adapt in this game, however the remodulator helps getting around that defence.

3: I dont PvP alot, so I cannot answer that. It depends on how quick your ship can fly. But one way is to use the inherent space skill 'Evasive Manuevers' to get a speed and turning rate boost.

4: As for EC... you will have to sell stuff on exchange to get them. If you get doubles from the lore missions on Starfleet Academy (close to Lt. Ferra in the northern structure), you can sell them usually for a good price over exchange. Also if you got some refugee DOFFs to sell, they usually go nicely for 150k or so, but that's last time I checked.

As for Dilithium.. There are daily repeatable missions in Orellius you can do after finishing the Breen mission series and when you are Vice Admiral. There are also other repeatable missions out in B'Tran cluster that award you Dilithium. There is also a DOFF mission that nets a nice 2,000 each time (called Turn in Contraband), though you must have three contraband and atleast a security officer DOFF to do it. Dilithium can also be gotten from DOFF missions (though usually in miniscule admounts, but some do offer alot, such as the Turn in Contraband mission). This is how I know it atleast.

Also this is ore, not refined. And you can only refine a max 8,000 a day (even subscribers has that limit).

Well, it is official, you can in a few weeks play in a full Romulan fraction. I know someone who is dying to get their hands on that Romulan ship. Hope it has a nice bridge.

Not sure what kind of Romulan character I should make, .. maybe alien exists in this fraction and I can make a Liz version :) Just like in KDF side.

For all those that play STO, please check out my foundry mission called "The Devil You Know." It should have relevance to all Pretoria players, as you'll see some familiar faces! Some names have been changed, because I didn't want to give Perfect World my ideas, but you'll surely know who they are.

Anyway, it's my first foundry mission, and I think I have all the wrinkles ironed out. Please try it out, and tell me if you had any problems playing it. It's not hard, I tried to make it interesting.

P.S.

If anyone wants to collaborate on a foundry mission, maybe an old Pretoria mission, let me know.

I was thinking of writing up the first Episode, "Hunter's Dawn" as a Foundry mission.

Ep. 45, "Wanted Man" would likely be perfect for Foundry, along with Ep. 21, "Custom Made Killer"

I thought about the Montharia, but I found that

1) I cannot make totally machine drones (have to substitute Borg).

2) as far as I know you can't make NPCs as adveraries (ones you can fight).

3) you have to make the player the main character, and they always have to win

There are a lot of other limitations, but still some good options to make missions come alive.

Guys! The latest seasons just had Worf appear in a new featured mission where you can aquire a new big carrier. ^^ Also the very actor of Worf also voice acts as him and Cryptic/Perfect World have really done his looks in STO great justice. ^^ And best part is, you are working alongside with him to find a way back home... and you come to realize a bunch of episodes of TNG and DS9 actually have some relevance to the featured episode series of Season 8: Sphere of Influence.
