Edenian Edenians are a race of amphibian humanoids from the Gamma Quadrant. Their visual acuity is slightly lower than human standards. A full grown Edenian weighs about 160 to 235 kg (350 to 520 lb) compared to the humanoid norm of 50 to 90 kg (110 to 200 lb), and are somewhat faster in movement and reaction time. Edenians possess physical strength about two times human norm. Telepathic races (e.g: Vulcans and Betazoids) are unable to read an Edenian's thoughts due to their unique brain provides them complete telepathic resistance. Gestation period is 740 days (2 years and 10 days). Edenians, although a life span of 100 years in normal, are susceptible to many diseases and a great number of predators on the home world. So all children are precious, many die before the age of 5, and families are close. Large groups of children very often form relationships for life. Ancestral records are kept in great detail, dating back for centuries. Like Andorians, Cardassians and Gorn, Edenians prefer hot environments, 32 to 38 degrees Celsius (94 to 106 F), which is uncomfortable for most humanoid species, Edenians are also sensitive to temperatures below 12 Celsius (53 F) Some Edenians posses photographic memory. Others can remember events and people they encountered a few days after birth. Edenians are considered adults at the age of twelve. Their scaly skin has a tough leather quality that serves as a strong natural armor providing a high degree of resistance to injury, but injuries heals slowly without medical assistance. They are have a venom gland which is located in the neck around the vocal cords. When it is used, the venom is aimed where it can make contact with skin or preferrably in the face which is then absorbed quickly. If not treated immediately it will lead to excruciating muscle spasms and respiratory failure. Edenians enjoy strategy and puzzle games, games and contests of logic. Most enjoy sports, the most chaotic sport is something like Rugby, three teams of 16 players each (One Team Defense, One Team Attack and One Team Interfere with the Defense and Attack teams). The most famous Martial Arts Contests is the Pad'ar Warriors. Edenians also have a great respect for nature. They value strong analytical and reasoning skills and working as effectively as possible to resolve pressing concerns and potential problems. Edenians have less ceremonies and holidays than most cultures, but a great love for music. They have a fear of cybernetic lifeforms (ie: the Borg, Bynar), androids and genetic engineering for cultural reasons. Edenians are curious and nosy about many things. Edenian starship commanders are intelligent and cunning. Traditionally not militarily aggressive, save in the defense of their own systems, or if an immediate threat future or present, presents itself. Edenian vessels were designed for the highest possible speed across all flight regimes (impulse and warp) and needs only a small crew to operate while the rest of the ship is automated. Their starships are equipped with unique technologies such as the SD, which creates sensor ghosts and the AHPS, which acts as a "giant hologram" often used to disguise ships to ultimately confuse the enemy, even cause them to fire upon their own vessels. Edanians are also known to build facsimiles of enemy ships, including Dominion ships. HISTORY Earliest Edenian history can be traced back some 1,400,000 years. The home world is called Edenia Prime, a large Class O planet, with almost 84 % of the planet covered by water. Edenia Prime has three moons, their interaction with the planet causes the ocean to be extremely turbulent for long periods of time (normally less than 4 days). Due to the planet's proximity to it's suns, the atmosphere is often ionized (Auroras), giving it a variety of rapidly changing colours. Early Edenians were excellent swimmers and lived in the ocean around a long cluster of islands on the planet's equator. The first use of tools and weapons is estimated to have occurred by 17,000 BC (relative Earth date), structured vocal communication followed in 9,300 BC and written communication was fully developed by about 7,000 BC. By 2,000 BC, most of the population started living on land and over time lost their webbed hands, gaining sharp claws instead. Once safe from the many predators that sweep the oceans, the population starting to grow faster than ever before and their level of technology started evolving rapidly as well. However the land become unable to support the expending population by 1652 AD. Most of the planetary civilization moved to floating cities that eventually grew, to house more than a hundred thousand. From this renaissance came a very strong naval tradition that is still observed today. Wars fought was always on a small scale and casualties were light, again their great respect for nature helped prevent the devastation some worlds been brought onto themselves. When a central government was established in 1807, all provinces signed a non-warfare agreement, better known as the Four Principles of Peaceful Co-existence. By 1838 AD, aircraft were commonplace but space flight technology was still non existent when Edenia Prime received it's first extra-terrestrial visitors, a crashed shuttlecraft carrying 3 Maorians. They were retrieved, but unfortunately died several hours later from their injuries. Scientists and engineers were put to work building future aircraft and early warp vessels based on the recovered Maorian vessel. First warp flight was achieved in 1883. The early years in space proved extremely difficult as many species chose to ruthlessly plunder the resources of their neighboring planets. Suffering centuries of economical hardships and invasion attempts, the Edenian Federation of Worlds (EFW) was created in 2118 as a unified attempt by a federation of species wanting to put a permanent stop to these crippling attacks as well as the mutual benefit of combining the member planets's scarce resources and defenses. By the 27th anniversary the enemies of the EFW were all defeated which was followed by 206 years of growth and unchallenged expansion, which brought them into head on conflict with the Dominion in 2351. This led to a cold war and a large number of border skirmishes before it broke out into a full scale war in 2356. By 2372, a cease fire was declared while the Dominion focused all it's resources on the Alpha Quadrant. The EFW took this opportunity to rebuilt their scattered defenses. The Dominion broke the ceasefire in 2374 when they attacked the Edenian home world, but was defeated. In retaliation, the EFW destroyed the cloning facilities on BR 241, Vanler and Kew as well as four shipyards, taking back two starsystems and destroying a sun in Dominion space. Peaceful first contact with the Federation was at Deep Space Nine on December 21, 2376. The Edenian Federation currently represents 67 species, 188 planets and 384 million peoples spread across 76,500 lightyears. There is 256 Edenians serving in Starfleet, about the same number of Federation people serving in Edenian Federation of Worlds. Recently, Romulans asked for 18 Guardians to work in Romulan space, while 18 Romulans entered the Guardian Academy. The Guardian Council is comprised of three representatives from each of the three "castes" - Worker, Mother, and Guardian - for a total of nine individuals. Other major Races in the Edenian Federation of Worlds The Miiaesron: Sentient insect people. Their government is decentralized and clan-like, split into cooperating cells. A number of clans choose to raise their children as a community, their children do not know who their parents are. Maorians: A joined species like the Trill. Appearance of tall humaniods, red fur, bird-like beck. Maorians love music, their cities always have some kind of music festival going on. Home world: Aerith Olamtai: A joined species like the Trill. Appearance of tall humaniods, blue fur, bird-like beck, usual hair colour is purple. home world: MF Turing. Famous for "Falka", it produces an effect not unlike strong wine to the Olamtai, but for other alien races it is considerably stronger and extremely addictive. Parmanians: Human in appearance. Larger eyes, smaller mouths and noses. They invented starship weaponry like the hi-jammer, canceller and Repulsor Field. Their 'history' is quite interesting. They fled the destruction of their home world in huge colony ships, only to be thrown back in time, by 4000 years. What actually happened is their colony ships encountered an unstable wormhole and it created several 'copies' of the ships, thrown across time and space to different universes (ie: mirror universe, one copy of these ships landed in the Delta Quadrant and were assimilated by the Borg). Shoekean: Four armed race of humanoid people, usually quite tall and powerful but polite and patient. Their history and culture is strongly based on honour and protecting those in their care. At birth, babies are assigned at least two other parents from either gender to assist the mother. Shoekeans have lifespans of 350 years, they most often choose to be a medics and healers and diplomats and ambassadors. Yupello: The Yupello are a docile, amphibious race. A colony ship carrying the last of their race crash landed on Edenia Minor almost 200 years ago. They have blue skin and a characteristic manner of speaking which makes most of their speech sound slurred. The Yupello live primarily in and around water or captains aboard the Edenian ferries. Extremely quick and agile swimmers. They have a strong dislike for sporting events, called having a "lackadaisical disposition draws them to less strenuous pastimes", or, put more simply, because of their laid-back nature and fragile bodies. Many decades ago, Edenians found it hard to tell Yupello apart, male and female, so Yupello started to wear different clothing; Males: White and Red clothes. Females: Blue and Purple elegant clothes. Values The Four Principles of Peaceful Co-existence, The Charter Of Life and The Right of Family, is the most important values held by the Edenians, and those of the Edenian Federation of Worlds. The Guardian Collective The Pride of the Edenians, Founded over 500 years ago, Guardians are stereotyped as square-jawed, stoic, and polite, yet with a steely determination and extreme physical toughness. Coupled with the adage that the Guardians "always gets the criminal", the image projects them as fearsome, incorruptible, dogged yet gentle champions of the law. Guardians are seen as elite and trustworthy. The stated aims of the Edenian Federation of Worlds is to prevent war, to safeguard rights and safety of living beings, to provide a mechanism for law, and to promote social and economic progress, improve living standards. It gives the opportunity for governments to balance interdependence and national interests when addressing problems between governments and groups. The Charter Of Life envisaged a system of regulation that would ensure "the least diversion for armaments, reduction of military budgets, and measures to strengthen security. The founders of the EFW had envisaged that the Guardian Collective would act to prevent conflicts between nations and make future wars unwanted. The EFW has been mostly successful in their quest for peace. Guardians are sent to various regions where armed conflict has recently ceased, or temporarily frozen, in order to enforce the terms of peace agreements and to discourage the combatants from resuming hostilities. Guardians' primary quest is to restore lawless cities and to catch criminals. In order for the Collective to operate on someone else's space station or planet, the Government must request the Guardian Collective to set up shop and restore the peace. EFW also builds housing and farms on ravaged planets. The toughest mission that Guardian has completed was Kitsilano 8. The Government of Kits 8 asked the Guardian Collective to set up shop and restore their planet. Most of those brave women and men of the government (Kits 8) were killed shortly afterwards by Naian-las strivs thugs. The Guardian Collective fought for 19 years, finally driving the Naian-las striv away. Kitsilano 5, 6 and 7 is currently a work in progress for the Guardians. The Guardian Collective is operating a fleet of 230 Starbases, 11 400 shuttles, 7 750 starships in a battle/defense role. 125 000 Guardians serving on 119 planets with major crime rates. Another 52 900 Guardians are front line soldiers, keeping the line against the Dominion and the Naian-Las strivs, mercenaries that runs Slave Points, a central location where they sell slaves, mostly children age 4 to 11, to any buyers. They are allies with the Dominion. The Naian-las Strivs attempt to dominate planets and entire systems at any cost, willing to do anything to achieve their goals. Like the Dominion, Naian-las strivs poison cities and give illicit drugs to children, starting a chain of suffering, a foot hold situation to gain control. Other Guardian Servants * Special Constables 19,267 * Civilian members 15,978 * Public Servants 26,626 Although it is a police force, the Guardian Collective is entitled to wear battle honours for service as well as carry a guidon during Ceremonies. Standard Guardian Uniform (on patrol or light to medium combat) - Ablative armor covering the back and chest (Medium Blue coloured, sometimes dark blue for senior officers. Damaged Ablative armor turn purple. These uniforms are also capable of changing colour) - Skin armor covering stomach, waist and legs (Light Blue coloured) - Metal bracers on arms - Optional helmet, and yellow and black knee pads - Yellow and Black Combadge on chest - Battle Tool on one of the arm bracers Battle Guardian Uniform (heavy combat and Long Term) - Ablative armor covering the back and chest (Capable of changing colour - everything from Dark Brown to Green) - Laconian helmet - Skin armor covering stomach, waist and legs (Dark coloured) - Metal bracers on arms - Optional helmet, and yellow and black knee pads - Yellow and Black Combadge on chest - Battle Tool on one of the arm bracers - Underneath battle uniform is a form fitting metallic-blue body suit. The suit's material, while texture wise is close to rubber, is actually organic in nature, and has pores which could open if the environment gets too warm, or close if it gets too cold. Ceremony Guardian Uniform - Light weight Ablative armor covering the back and chest (Black with gold accents or Dark Red with gold accents) - Skin armor covering stomach, waist and legs (Black) - Silver or Yellow or Red Cape - Metal bracers on arms - Yellow and Black Combadge on chest Battle Guardian Uniform being developed - High tech Silver Skin armor (self healing) covering the entire body (absorbs energy weapons, resistant to non high velocity bullets and can protect from small melee weapons) - Metal bracers on arms - Yellow and Black Combadge on chest - Battle Tool on one of the arm bracers Tools of the Guardian The Battle Tool Placed on one of the arm bracers, a Battle Tool is used by voice commands. It can be used as melee weapon (energy lance/Shield) or scanning or communications (voice and video). The Battle Tools can also fire an energy bolt, capable of stunning or killing. A Battle Tool is also capable of firing a Large Beam of Energy. Some older Battle Tools are known to act strangely, as if self-aware, perhaps sentient. Extreme Weather Suit Made up of Fullbody Thermal fibers, is ultralight weight, comes equipped with internal pads of cell-powered heat generators; enough to keep it's user comfortable in temperatures below 15°C for four to five days. A hood and mouthpiece with self-contained breathing apparatus comes included. Also equipped with multiple wavelength visors, audio and environmental sensors. Smart Suits In 2366 scientists created Smart Suits to battle the near infinite number of Jem'Hadar solders and carry more firepower in ground combat. Smart Suits, armored combat suits (made out of bonded polycarbide metal) that are endowed with artificial intelligence. These suits enable warriors with better decision making abilities in battle, often nudging or suggesting courses of action. A symbiotic relationship exists between the suits and the weapon systems that the Edenian warriors carry. This relationship allows the suit to maintain and rearm the weapons properly, something that warriors would normally have a great deal of difficulty with. In battle, smart suits have been known to act in very bizarre and unpredictable ways, even having been witnessed carrying off dead or disabled warriors to safety while still continuing to fire at enemies. The Edenian Warrior / Smart Suit combination is a highly efficient and powerful weapon in heavy combat situations. Smart Suit - Type 1 Combat Height: 2.1 meters Weight: 234.3 kg (without Jumpjets), 272.4 kg (with Jumpjets) Max. speed: 120 km/h (Ground), 190 km/h (Air) Type 1 acts as a heavily-armed obstacle, heavily-armoured Companion to the Guardians. The armour has a forcefield that evaporates most bullets and absorbs most types of energy weapons, though normally ineffective firepower can be concentrated on the legs to render a Suit less effective in moving around and unable to stand up straight while firing heavy weapons. The Suit's primary weapon are three disruptors, two on the left arm and one on the right arm. A rocket launcher located on its right arm and twin launchers for mortar rounds or grenades (either gas, poison or High Explosive TYPE). The left arm contains two external high-capacity ammo clips and the right arm one which snap into place when the weapons are armed. Shield can take atleast 50 hits from Jem Hader hand weapons, while the Armor can take another 20 to 25 hits. Smart Suit - Type 2 Long Range Height: 2.1 meters Weight: 284.3 kg (without Jumpjets), 322.4 kg (with Jumpjets) Max. speed: 120 km/h (Ground), 190 km/h (Air) The Type 2 is capable of firing and guiding long range mortars (up to 300 kilometer range). It can take at least 50 hits from Jem Hader hand weapons. Smart Suit - Type 3 Defense Height: 2.5 meters Weight: 280 kg (without Jumpjets), 300 kg (with Jumpjets) Max. speed: 100 km/h (Ground), 150 km/h (Air) Only equipped with Light disruptors, it contains two pairs of micro-Fusion generators. It can create very powerful shields and even manipulate gravity at a range of 75 meters. It can take atleast 90 hits from Jem Hader hand weapons. One Mission Rakurai and Guardian Ael was involved in, Rakurai was beaten to a bloody pulp and thrown off a building, a 1 500 meter drop. Rakurai was saved at a Type 3 Suit throwing up a Gravity Ray to stop his fall. Smart Suit - Type 4 The Ultimate Weapon Height: 3.5 meters Diameter: 8 meters Weight: 80 metric tons Max. speed: 70 km/h (Ground), 240 km/h (Air) It is a Howitzer-like Cannon, operated by a number of Suits and Edenians (or their allies). Type 4 is also a defensive weapon used as Anti Aircraft. With its CLAW unit deployed, the Type 4 can accurately deliver heavy impact shells up to 420 kilometers away, carefully extrapolating the enemy’s position based on its velocity and orientation when the shot is fired. This unit compliments the Field Commander perfectly. Commanders on the front line can order artillery strikes by linking with the Type 4’s communications channel and relaying the desired coordinates. It can take atleast 60 hits from Jem Hader hand weapons, unless the Jem Hader attacks the CLAWS, which can be damaged in less than 30 direct hits. Some specialists especially in the Science and Technical areas require up to 9 years of school. Defense (Martial Arts) and Weapons Training takes 3 years alone. The first three years is the more intense. Cadet Ranks * Guardian Cadet (Class One Trainee) - equivalent: Starfleet Cadet, Police Constable * Guardian Cadet (Class Two Trainee) - Starfleet equivalent: Cadet or Petty Officer * Guardian Cadet (Class Three Trainee) - Starfleet equivalent: Cadet or Petty Officer * Guardian Cadet (Class Four Trainee - Protégé) - Starfleet equivalent: Chief Petty Officer * Guardian Cadet (Class5, Partner to a higher ranking Guardian) - Starfleet equivalent: Ensign or Lieutenant A program of mentorship, a Class 2, 3 or 4 cadet would be selected by a full Guardian, the Cadet undergoes intensive one-on-one training under a Guardian or Guardian Lieutenant for many years until they graduate as a Full Guardian. Cadets also attend classes and training with other cadets. This part of training takes up 40 to 50 % of the cadet's conditioning while the rest is one-on-one with their mentor.
