So, next year it looks like I'm going to be GMing a Shadowrun campaign. I'd like to know who is interested, so I can start to get a feel for how big our party is. I don't put a particular emphasis on matrix vs magic vs meat-world running, so any and all character concepts are viable. If the words "Troll" and "Archer" both appear in your character concept, then your character -might- contract Super-AIDS before the game starts. Other than that, let me know :-) |

Oh hell yes, I want in. I may not know all the rules yet, but I have been skimming the rulebook (not sure which edition we're playing). It all looks like a nice change of pace from rolling d20's and casting magic missile into the darkness. |

4th edition SR, to clarify. There were elements of 3rd I liked, but many more that I didn't like (For example, you try explaining the matrix in 3rd edition to anyone XD.) New matrix rules and such just make the game much more viable. |

Here's what I have so far: A troll (horns, over 7' tall) with a logic of 6 (meaning he is as smart as the smartest non-augmented human) and can lift over 400 lbs off the ground without breaking a sweat. Did I forget to mention he is a doctor? Need to flesh him out more, but for now, I'd like to here what others think. |

I'm not 100% certain, but I think I'll be a Norse Magician of some sort. ::nods:: I can't decide between being completely anachronistic, or being a new-age cyber-viking. Both would be hilariously fun.

Damn... sorry but I have nothing yet. I haven't really, um, thought of a character yet. Too busy of late. |

S'ok, I still haven't fleshed out nearly enough runs XD. Although the nice thing about a traditional SR campaign in Seattle is that you can very easily GM it on the fly. |

Im totally in- ive been so bored at work ive made like 10 characters lol. Making SR characters is a good time waster. So ill wait and see what everyone else is playing and what the campaign is about and pick based on that, altho I am very tempted to just reuse my Troll weapon specialist from Justins campaign XD |

Sweet, i think ive found the character im going to play- altho knowing me ill prolly change my mind. So far ive got an ex-corp hitman/interrogator who lost his identity in the Crash so now hes doing the job of the people he went after before. He dual wields two nasty pistols that I modded to do a lot of damage. Hes kind of a jack of all trades- good at infiltration, charisma skills and fighting. |

Does anyone know some good online resources for new players? I can get the basics from the rulebook, but I want to know more. Also, I am having a hard time figuring out where a smart troll can fit in to a shadowrun group. I kind of want to stay away from matrix hacking until I understand the system better, and I do not want to this guy to get into a lot of fire fights on purpose. Maybe I should try to get a wide variety of knowledge skills, like Bio, Chem, phys, and some police procedures/corporate hierarchy. Basically, how do I smart troll? ⁻\(o_°)/⁻ |

My Russian troll was smart. He was a mechanical engineer and had the armory skill so he could make and modify weapons. I think your doctor idea was a good one. Doc Wagon people often take fire, so having a troll on the team wouldnt be too weird I dont think, and having one that could actually perform medicine would be even better. That could also explain why you have some combat ability (always useful as a runner). As far as a troll getting into med school, you could have a parent who was very influential at a school, or maybe you learned from a street doc who wasnt an asshole like the rest of the world lol. Just some ideas- I really like trolls, so I want this one to succeed ;D. As far as extra resources, Robin and I have a ton of 4th ed books, if you send me and IM Ill send them to you. Me SN is the same as my forum name (nazgul8888). |

I'd definitely be interested, and I have a few ideas for characters. My main idea is basically a human who's family grew up in the slums and his father owned a car shop. He can fix pretty much anything that moves, and he looks likeee: http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/contents/gurren-...hara/leeron.jpg (But not really) That's the basic premise, I have a bunch of fluff for him too. I was just wondering if there were any type of things I could do to make him less specialized. I mean, pilot, hacking, navigation and mechanics is useful, but I feel that wouldn't be very useful in many situations. Maybe etiquette, negotiation or firearms? |

First off, welcome to the forums :-p. Second off, hee hee TTGL. Third off, pilot may -seem- like it's very limited in it's uses, until you start hot rigging drones. Then you can use pilot for things like, say, robots. But a rigger would be very welcomed; right now we're a mage, an ex-cop, a scary corp interregator, a troll doctor, and possibly a Barghest handler. Fourth off, I dunno if you're a newcomer or just new to the forum, but you should make an introduction topic :-). -Max |
