The One That Got Away
First off, I don't care how many people care about the release yesterday; I'm posting.

Jaunty Jackelope was released yesterday and my personal feelings were a mix between excitement and disappointment. Expecting the official release to take place GMT, I held off until midnight EST. Yet the .iso was still not up. So I waited until 2am, nothing. Went to bed until 7am, waited until I had to go at 9am, nothing. Turns out they released the .iso downloadable at 10am. Okay, that makes sense...unfortunately that also meant I couldn't download it overnight. So I left my computer to download it as I went to the clubs for the night, hoping that sleep mode wouldn't cause the download to abruptly end. Thankfully it didn't. I had Juanty.
Went to work this morning at 9, did a clean install over my Intrepid partition. Worked fine, no hiccups. A few driver issues after install, a few repository errors, nothing major. But now, I am sorely impressed, except for those few annoying beeps my laptop insists on belching as it shuts down, everything is as I hoped. And the only reson I'm ending this post this early is because my battery is almost dead...

Yikes - I usually wait at least 3 months before I install the newer releases. (Currently dual-booting between FC10 and Ibex, and am slowly being won over by the latter). Hope 9.04 is easy to install, it usually takes me all weekend to get things running just the way I like them again.

Not sure why I go for the latest releases when the machine (former XP box, turned 7 in December) is starting to get uselessly slow when running anything with graphics.

Fairly straightforward install. The only problems I had were with Nvidia drivers and repository issues, but that always happens for me. Damn proprietary video drivers.....
