In the spirit of anime club i invite you all to view what is possibly the greatest movie moment in Japanese-American theatre history to date: Paprika. Me and a bunch of people from anime club, and then some, are trying to assemble and go see the movie Paprika this Sunday, May 27th at 2PM at the AMC Select movie theatre located just a few blocks away from Grand Central Station (or "Terminal" if you want to get technical). The logical meeting place will be Grand Central, and depending on your location, the train to be on is the Metro-North New Haven Line that arrives at Grand Central at 12:40 PM on the 27th. If you are interested in going to see the movie with us or just to hang out please contact me at either my screen name: bfocker666 , or my cell phone number: 1-203-451-1314 , and hopefull we can set up times and locations such that we can all meet and have a blast in NYC.

If you want i could plan a possible route for you, however it may get a little complicated. There might be another trip before the end of this summer, a possible location is a totally sweet arcade thats in Mass, so i will let you know if people are amassing to do something mmmk.

well you should. it'll save the environment.

I can't go, I'm working 10 - 6 tomorrow >_< Besides it's a long commute for me (I live in Clinton CT), so I won't be there.

Just...breathtaking. The movie was so good and fun...if you have any chance to see this movie, GO! That is a total demand since you should not miss this for the world. The music alone is enough of a reason to just fall in love with the movie, here is the title track (you need to make an Imeem account, it takes a second and is totally worth it):

Everything in life needs a little bit of spice, why not make it Paprika?

Ah rats, I was up in Boston all weekend or would've gone too. Oh well, hope you got a bunch of people together, and maybe I'll get down there next week and see it or -- dare I say it -- it'll get a wider release. (and maybe Best Animated Feature - it's only been all of 5 years since anime did that, wooo.)

How'd it compare to everything else he's done? (Tokyo Godfathers [my favorite of his so far], Perfect Blue, Millenium Actress, etc.)

I have not seen any of his other stuff, but as compared to all the anime movies and shows i have seen it is easily just as good as the best. Since the movie was just so well done, it should take home Best Animated Feature without much of a fight...dare i say the first animated movie to receive a Best Picture nomination?!

Actually, it'll have to be the second.

His other movies are definitely on the weird side but worth a look if you get a chance. He also made a 13-episode series 'Paranoia Agent' which was up there with Lain and Boogiepop on the disturbing scale. Maybe something to watch next year, hmm...

Whats really funny is that my friend right after watching the movie with me said that he felt that it was somehow like Paranoia Agent, haha. Now i understand why, i hear its a good series and i definitely want to watch it before the summer ends.
