However extreme both were, i feel they were done is such a magnificent way that it reinforced my love for the anime itself.

More like the fact that at times, they overemphasized the drama and pessimism, and a little of the blood. Everything else was fine. Not to take away from the show of course, it's a darn good show.

If Elfen Lied didn't have as much blood and nudity odds are you would not have taken it as seriously. It wasn't excessive, it was just right. I don't scare or cringe easily, but when Lucy ripped Nana's arms off I looked away.
