Going to Flo~rida! Actually going to enjoy this break, instead of working my ass off. Which I probobly should, since Spring Break and Anime Boston are running back to back, I'm missing 3 weekends of work, and so is Chris = not good for paying rent. >_> But I do plan on enjoying myself for once.

This is probably everywhere now, but I just heard about it on newsoftheweird.com:

"Ajinbayo Akinsiku's heavily abridged version of the Bible, in the Japanese graphic 'manga' style, was recently published in the United States, with the goal of making Jesus more 'accessible' to a younger, religion-indifferent generation. Quirky, illustration-rich manga presents biblical philosophy as action scenes using contemporary dialogue, according to a February New York Times review. In one example, Akinsiku (who hopes someday to become an Anglican priest) has Noah taking census on the Ark: 'That's 11,344 animals? Aargh! I've lost count again. I'm going to have to start from scratch!' [New York Times, 2-10-08]"

They probably posted scans of it somewhere but I'm not sure where.

It would have been funnier if manga-Noah had given an estimated animal count which fell above a certain four-digit number beginning with the number nine, and yelled really loudly while saying it.

Otherwise, hope everyone's recovered by now from being Maxrolled on Wednesday. :)

I got a kick out of this quote from several Gustav-related articles:

"They made a much bigger deal out of it, bigger than it needed to be," 31-year-old security worker Gabriel Knight said in New Orleans' nearly empty French Quarter. "I was here with Katrina. That was a nightmare. This was nothing."

If you don't get the reference.... Not sure if that was really the guy's name or he just wanted to see if the press would fall for it.

that's awesome! I didnt' get the reference, but now that I do, it's pretty sweet.

It was only overhyped because it was the 3 year anniversary of Katrina. At least the levees held this time. They would have been fine for Katrina if they left the wetlands as they were. <_< (environmentalist)

You know you spend too much time on avatar sites when you go to other forums and wonder why your gold count isn't increasing with every post.
