omg HAPPY SETSUBUN!!!! i'm sorry i didnt have time to post this today, but in japan 2/2 is a holiday called setsubun where everyone cleans their house and cleanses it of evil spirits by throwing soy beans at the corners of rooms. You also eat as many soy beans as your age. its a pretty fun holiday but just wait until 3/3! i'll tell you all what it is then.

lol now I'm excited and want to throw soy beans at people....

and yes, the spelling to awkward is rather awkward... random, but a good point.

Here's a good question for people: How many syllables does "rhythm" have?

two syllables

nope. Only one. In order to be a syllable, there has to be a vowel. Since there's only one vowel in "rhythm" (the 'y'), there's only one syllable! Same with prism. Lots of people think there's 2, but you can't have a syllable if there's no vowel.

At least, that's what people have told me. I thought there was two as well...

Actually....No....
I double checked on Webster online, and it agreed with me. Both Rhythm and Prism have two syllables.

You can have syllables without vowels. For instance: in Japanese, the hiragana for 'n' is counted as a separate syllable. And Japanese is very strict about sullable construction....they're all in the same form.

The actual construction of a syllable is insanely complicated, as I found when I checked Wikipedia for it.
