I'm keeping a sort of diary of playing Shivering Isles. Serious spoilers ahead. 06 May 2007 First day. Entered the Shivering Isles. Did both the quests to kill the gatekeeper. Half an hour after going through to the main part of the Isles I figured out the concept of Mania and Dementia. Cleared out a dungeon. Walked all the way to New Sheoth. Got attacked about five times on the way there. Got there. Talked to Sheogorath. 07 May 2007 Went to Xi- that dungeon. On the way there I got attacked by those Dementia monks who worship Sheogorath. (Can't remember their names). Cleared out dungeon. Did that fun thing making the adventurers go mad. Got Dawn/Duskfang. Read the journal. Went WOOOOOOOW!!! Returned to Sheogorath. Did the Mania Duke quest. (In between this I went into Crucible and got myself a magic ore shield from that smith. I also got an Amber sword earlier but got rid of it when I got Dusk/Dawnfang). Cleared out that massive dungeon. Destroyed the crack den :D. Started on Dementia quest. Looking for people that know about that woman being asked to kill the Duchess. 09 May 2007 I've finished the quest for the Duchess of Dementia. Took me a while to find all the right people but I've done it now. Got that bow she gives you, but I'm not an archer and it was too heavy anyway so I dropped it on the floor of the torture chamber. Went to talk to Sheogorath again and he told me to go to that dungeon to get the flame to relight the torch. I've practically figured out how the whole plot goes from reading the in game dialog and reading the official forums. I'm going to go to that dungeon next time. 13 May 2007 Finally went to do the torch quest. Helped the Aureals and we won :D. Went back to New Sheoth. Lit the Torch for Mania. Talked to Sheogorath talked to the priests. Talked to Sheogorath. Told him I'd do the Mania one. Went to talk to the steward. Went to the Greenmote silo. Sneaked through. Got Greenmote. Sneaked out. Went to private quarters. Sneaked through. Poisoned food. Started sneaking out, but got so bored I decided to TCL my way to the entrance. Watched the death. Got the blood. Went to altar. Duchess of Dementia came in. Was rudely interrupted halfway through the conversation. That was fun. I'm going to see what happens now. Bye! 14 May 2007 Saw the rest of the conversation. Talked to Sheogorath again. Went to my new home. Got pissed off because I couldn't sit on the throne. Went to my private quarters. Put all my heavy stuff that I don't use there and went out. Went to Crucible to get a magical ore sword because Dusk/Dawnfang is rubbish when it's run out of enchantment. I didn't have enough Madness Ore though, so I'm just going to 'retake the Fringe' and see what happens. |

You did a lot. My first day consisted of wandering around the Fringe looking at all the amazing sights, taking it in one step at a time so as to not become overwhelmed. I, too, use Dawn/Duskfang; it rocks! |

Yeah, I knew it was something like that. I could have checked UESP but I couldn't be bothered.
Yeah, strange that. I usually just wonder around when I'm in Cyrodil. I've only ever got to about level 15. But here I'm just rushing around and doing stuff. Gone up 2 levels already. Shows how much better it is there than in vanilla. Quite annoying, this whole expansion actually; I can't mod, and now that everybody is in the Isles, our mod is, well, screwed! Ah well. I'll be updating the first post later. |

See, with me, when I get a brand new game, I'm prepared to soak everything in, but, after awhile, I know everything; so, I don't pay much attention anymore. The Ilses isn't a new game, but only an expansion. However, everything is remade. I wasn't ready to soak it all in, so I had to take it slow. I do wander around Cyrodiil a lot...because of boredom .I'd already reached max level (for me: 48) by the time I got to the Ilses...so I didn't level up  . I'm exited to see what you do next!

Max is 48? Seems kinda low. Morrowind was much higher. The isles and patch 1.2 really do kill modding? That's gonna be bad. Come on Bethesda, make a new patch that actually works! |

I didn't know the expansion killed modding. I edited a mod made with the original CS with the new CS and it works fine. I don't see what the problem is. But maybe you need the expansion to use a mod made with the new CS. Probably. |

Well, technically Morrowind had no limit. There was a sweet bug where even if you maxed out a skill, if you found a master trainer, you could still pay them to train your skill. It would remain at 100, but your level would increase. Also, money wasn't too hard to come by if you know the right people. Specifically the scamp in Caldera or the mudcrab on an island south of Bal Fel (I *think* that's right; it's the large dwemer ruin east of Vivec). I didn't play Morrowind long, because X-Box is a piece of crap, and I didn't get it for the pc, but my dad managed to get to level 167. |
