It's been a while since I put my own personal and well thought out opinion about a role play. Maybe it was because back then, I had alot more respect from people. Anyways please listen if you wish.

First of all, the rp is not as it should be. Have you guys EVER been to a different rp, and if so please tell me how you felt, what you felt, and how it went. I'll give you a quick overview of an rp I was on that lasted for tha later part of 4 years or so. AoD, Age of Darkness, where? Mycoke.com. Now WAIT a minute. Before you sit and say..."mycoke? HAHAHAA NOOBS". I'm going to explain to you that there was a role play on mycoke that was not full of noobs, but decent rpers that went onto habbo.co.uk for the first time and held their own against counterpart role players such as Jae (B1teV3n0m) and Dan (Crayo).
The rp had a very well organized forum, with a set of stable and strict rules that people actually respected, and knew to their heart. With this they also had a section for Vampires, Lycans, Demons, and Humans which would be their races, of course. In SW terms this means Jedi, Sith, BH, etc. Now personally one of the reasons I think noone is on different types of characters and only FS, would be the limitation upon the forum that everyone has now become reliant upon.

Secondly, the role play and forum also had what we liked to call, leaders. HR, the HR, or Head Role players were those who helped watch over not only the forum, but the role play on the community site as well. Why? Because without them, the rp would crumble from instability and anarchy. Yes I admit Mike, Reid, and Pyro are all Admins on the forum and tend to keep people in check, personal commentery wise, but one thing I've failed to see is someone truly taking up the reigns as leader, and guiding the role play, not just the forum. Yes, some were dictators, but you cant expect an rp not to be dictated in at least one way, to help make it better. The thing is even the Dictators had their own control. They knew their limitations and they knew what they had to do to make the role play better, and not WORSE. They did not make it for their own personal gain, yet dictated it for the rp's own personal gain.

Thirdly, they Had a very clear and non-misleading forum strictly for the powers of the role play. If need be each of the powers were in their own forum section. This means Jedi would have lightsided power forum, Sith, Dark, so on and so fourth. They also had a very clear and distinct forum just on ways of combat, for force, hand to hand, and weapons. This helped new and non new members get more familiar with combat because the HR's knew that the forums were populated alot more than their IC archives. And in doing so this would have them learn more, and learn better. By the way, Head Role Player is not a title to be given to those who are the best role players in the world. It's a term of leadership and nothing more. And no, there were specific examples of how you could use certain weapons and force, just so they get an even better idea.

Fourthly, They had a very simple yet detailed Biography forum, seperated into all sections of reaces into the role play. This simply allowed people to look up the Biographys of people who were Dark, Evil, or Nuetral, and people actually read them and were interested in them.

Fifth, they had a creative Items database, and an Rp News and Updates forum. This allowed people to create items out of scratch with their own creativity as long as it was not god mod. If it were it would obviously declined. The news and updates were things such as Wars and things within the rp community that happened, not on the forum. Why? Because the news and updates that happened on the forum, you would be able to tell happened.

Last thing, I will tell you what they did NOT have. Personal forum for random bullshit that entertains people on a forum that's meant to be for role play. They did not have a voting terminal, rules were strictly placed upon creation of the role play. And with this the people of the role play respected them. They did not also have any personal OOC chatting area. The HR's realised if there were one of these, then people wouldnt focus on the task at hand, role play. Like Z0mg? Maybe they were right?

What does this explain to you? That maybe we need to change something, or maybe you dont WANT to change something. All I'm saying is this is a great example of an rp which was organized and lasted for a long time, let alone able to compete with habbo rp. The thing is It's time for a drastic change, people are getting too ancy, and it hurts the rp.

Why did I post this? Because I care about the role play and I care what happens. I get dissapointed in role plays which are too dictating or too out of touch with what they should really be doing. So please people, hear me out, put your personal opinions into this as well. DONT flame me for thinking this way, there should be no reason for it. Though I cant stop you. Seriously, just listen.

What do you think this is? Tofu? This Forum has been running steadily and efficiently for months now, since the 1st of February. The Rpg has never been so efficient, you may say that it shouldn't be efficient because its an Rpg and not a business but you know what, never before was I able to walk through so many different organised Factions except maybe in the Golden Era on .Uk. You come back here with absolutely no idea what has been happening and think your word is divine, at least Elliot has more than iota of grasp on current events and the state of the Rpg.

James

I hope you realise that Mike started Swrpg. You say that you have been here for so long and know so much, well then you should know that. This Rpg is based on community interaction and agreed rules/laws. No one person is allowed to have any sort of overall control. Yes the Admins can delete and edit posts on here but they cannot doctor polls which to mine, and most other peoples, eyes are fairly drawn. Reid allows 20 votes before closing and declaring outcome, which is more than sufficient. And you are correct, "noone is stepping up and taking the reigns" because we all have a shared grip on them. We all support each other and help the Rpg to grow.

We don't need a list of powers because 1. Wookieepedia has one and 2. Both the Jedi and Sith Orders extensively train their members in Force use. As for "ways of combat, for force, hand to hand, and weapons", well, combat and Force come under their basic training in the Orders and we have a Sub-Forum for weapons.

James

Fourthly, They had a very simple yet detailed Biography forum, separated into all sections of races into the role play. This simply allowed people to look up the Biographies of people who were Dark, Evil, or Neutral, and people actually read them and were interested in them.

What do you think our bio section is? Just a pisstake? Unless you hadn't noticed it is full of character bios and character stories, of which many Rp'ers are avid submitters.

Aargh! We have all these Forums that you keep suggesting, just look at the front page of the website. The news is combined of OOC Forum updates and IC Rp updates because thats what is needed. We need to know new rules as well as Rpg activities.

James

You clearly don't care about the Rpg because if you did you wouldn't be suggesting such moronic actions that will clearly destabilise the Rpg and cause havoc. Everyone needs to be able to communicate effectively, hence the Forum, and as for the OOC Chat area, everyone needs break from IC action but still be able to communicate effectively, the concept is simple enough.

You say you are disappointed? You have no be disappointed in anyone because you haven't been here for months and therefore cannot come back and instantly have the right to criticise how we are running the Rpg, because we have struggled and fought to get it to this stage and I personally think the Rpg is evolving fantastically and that the growth of the Rp'ers is more than adequate. So why don't you just sit back for a while and watch how we operate and get by and you will see that we do not need these drastic measures that you are suggesting.

Decimation of your horrible analysation.

1st Analysation= Incorrect.
If it were truly organised as well as you say, flaming wouldnt be a problem to control, now would it?

2nd Analysation= Incorrect.
Wrong, I never said I've been here for a very long time, I've actually only been in swrp since last May. On the other hand the time I have been here, it's alot worse than the hold days as people describe. And I'm not even sure he did, Never heard he did, only heard he did 6 years of help on it. I dont even think he claimed to start SWRP on here.

3rd Analysation= Incorrect.
Wookieepedia is always subject to change, and you should know very well whether you're Jedi or Sith, you're usually tought by yourself how to use the force and combat, because the Jedi spend all of their time on the outer main part of the order, chatting OOC and getting into OOC arguments with Sith as they raid. And Sith Talk in their order OOC all the time, and raid. I'd say there is an affective training day every week, there should be an affective training day every...day. <_<

4th Analysation= Incorrect.

Many rpers may be avid submitters, but to many rpers truly go and take time off of their hands to read others? If they did than more arguing would have stopped as well.

5th Analysation= Correct.

I was only comparing AoD, an rp from mycoke in which many of you had stated mycoke was only for noobs. To help you realise that were not so good and we need to improve.

Going to school now, be back later.

Flaming would be a problem anyway. You can't change how people are going to act. All you can do is fix it after, i.e. the Mod's and Admin's delete the posts. Simple.

If you haven't been here for long then you have even less right to criticise our methods. You don't know what it's like to try and sort out an argument between hormonal teenage boys and Sara (and Bri and Kat xD Lol). Swrpg had started but Mike grabbed a hold of it and made the foundations that led to what it is today. If you have only been here since May then you do not know what it used to be like so you cannot be objective.

By saying this you have contradicted yourself, you are insinuating that Wookieepedia is unreliable, then where do you suggest we go for canon descriptions to put in the apparently necessary database of Force powers you think we need?

James

4th Analysation= Incorrect.

Many rpers may be avid submitters, but to many rpers truly go and take time off of their hands to read others? If they did than more arguing would have stopped as well.

Yes. I have read every bio story and event that people have posted. I don't know about everyone else but I think the view counter speaks for itself. CLick here.

James

5th Analysation= Correct.

I was only comparing AoD, an rp from mycoke in which many of you had stated mycoke was only for noobs. To help you realise that were not so good and we need to improve.

AoD was a completely different Rpg with different Rp'ers. We are SwRpg and we are the SwRp'ers. We follow our own rules and customs. We are not going to change our actions and the way we Rp just to fit in with some idealogical dream that is based on an Rpg that was around nearly eight years ago.

Yet again I make the same point, you cannot come into the Rpg with the small amount of experience you have and tell us that we can't Rp or that our Forum is crap. We do it how we see fit and if you don't like it, go to .Uk and tell them that you think their Rp'ing is crap and their Forum is useless. I'm sure they'll welcome you with open arms and revere you as a god.

Err, I'm going to make as short as possible, nor am I going to [ quote ](message) [ / quote ] anyone. I'll just use '(insert sentence here)'

Alright, first off:

I agree with James for the most part. We need someone to 'dictate' rules for us. Someone with enough sense to actually make things normal.

Secondly:

James is right when he said 'Wookieepedia is always subject to change'. This is correct, half-way. Yes people can change the force powers and what they do, however force wave will always be force wave. They can't change powers to anything they like, considering wookiee has people that make sure that doesn't happen.

Thirdly:

It seems that Swrp is more of a hang-out for us now. Most of us come on to talk to our swrp friends, not to roleplay. As awkward as that may seem, I'm nearly sure it's true that most of us careless about roleplaying as we do become '1337 and respected' by others.

Fourthly:

Aidan you stated that 'we need an ooc part of the forums because we need a break from roleplay'. This is kind of correct, however that is what real life is for. Most of us (I'm assuming) have friends other than
through habbo. When you log on to habbo and go to a Star Wars Roleplay room you should be there to roleplay not to chat with your e-friends about what you did today.

Please note: I'm not saying we shouldn't have friendships over habbo, but if you want to talk to people OOC, we have msn and aim for that.

Lastly:

Aidan, you said that AoD is a completely different roleplay than Swrp. It is yes, but clearly it is a good model of how a succesful roleplay should run. If it was as good as James stated it was, then we should be happy to take after (partly) AoD. I'm not saying we have to completely re-design our roleplay and make it the same as AoD, but perhaps we need to take a step forward and follow the lead of some other succesful virtual chat room roleplays.

---------------------

Err, please don't take anything I said overly literally. I don't want to log onto habbo tomorrow to see Swrp renamed and the forums completely remade.

Dictate. Hmm, thats the greatest idea I have ever heard. Have you ever seen what happens when someone tries to take control of the Rpg? They are well and truly torn into pieces by all types of Rp'ers, including myself. And do you want to know why? Because this is a community. Not some fucked up "Habbo Army" where the "Commander-In-Chief" has total control. Everyone has an equal say because if they didn't, I wouldn't be in this Rpg, and also, saying "Someone with enough sense" is a great way to piss people off.

Tyler

Wookieepedia is always subject to change

What do you suggest we use for reference? That we start our own database of materials, weapons, items, history, characters and so on? If you want to, be my guest, although you may want to set aside a couple of months.
Wookieepedia is indeed subject to change but it is subject to canon change because the regularly present moderator team on Wookieepedia are clearly know Star Wars well and they get a list of every topic changed and the exact lines/paragraphs changed so if someone fucks it up or inputs false information, they can retrieve the lost information or delete the mistakes.98% of information on Wookieepedia is taken from the games and the comics and the novels and the films, and is therefore totally canon. This means we can use it as official reference and you cannot say that we can't use it because it's "subject to change".

What people do in the Rpg is not up to you. I have seen everyone sitting around doing nothing at least once and the simple fact that they are resting or there is no-one around to Rp with. I, personally, start Rp'ing the second I see another Rp'er and I am sure this is the case for 90% of other Rp'ers. Even if not, it is still not your place to say "You should be roleplaying. Not sitting around."

Yes, that is what real life is for but many of the other Rp'ers on here I consider friends and therefore enjoy having regular conversations with them. Maybe I could use Msn but an OOC section of the Forum is available to both me and the other Rp'ers, especially those who don't have Msn.

Tyler

AoD is a model of how a successful AoD Rpg should be run. You cannot compare our two Rpg's because they are two different Rpg's. We are Swrpg and we will run our roleplay the way we want to and not following in the footsteps of another Roleplay because then we will be AoD and not Swrpg.

And as for you saying,

Yes, this is a community but as you may have noticed many communitys have leader figures. Hence mayors, presidents and governers.

I know it's not my place to dictate what anyone does, I do not have such authority. What I was simply saying is, noone gives a damn about roleplaying. People log on to habbo for the soul purpose of socializing with other 'roleplayers'.

Once again, you've failed to realise this is Star Wars ROLEPLAY This isn't Star Wars Fan Club. People can socialize with other roleplayers, I'm not even saying they shouldn't. I am suggesting that people should care more about being a Jedi Knight when they come onto habbo than being a god damn respected typer =/.

AoD is a model of how a successful AoD Rpg should be run. You cannot compare our two Rpg's because they are two different Rpg's. We are Swrpg and we will run our roleplay the way we want to and not following in the footsteps of another Roleplay because then we will be AoD and not Swrpg.

You've been completely ignorant of my post here. I said it's a good example of how a roleplay should be. A roleplay, that is what this is, isn't it? I don't give a damn if it's a fucking Snowball Fight Roleplay. AoD was clearly run properly, the way a roleplay should be ran.

I think you're over ambitious with how much weight your opinion has

As for the last little snide comment, that wasn't needed at all TBH Aidan. Whether or not you like to realise, you only did that because I had a seperate opinion than yours.

You've also SEVERLY contradicted yourself here. You've always said 'Oh equality for roleplayers opinions' yet here you clearly undermine mine. Tut tut...

All of that boils down to attitude. We can't force people to change their attitudes. We technically can, as the Admins of the forum, but we choose not to, purely because as a staff of about 10 people we don't have the time to go and ban half the forum for their mistakes.

People have to have the mentality to be willing to do all this, a mentality which rp'ers lack.

Forums-wise, I'm going to direct you to the Marc fiasco. Marc tried to bring order and control what were HIS forum and went about moderating in what is actually normal moderating on most forums, and was lashed out against. I have half a mind to ban 1/5 of the people on this forum for things but don't, because the minute an Admin or Moderator does their job they're flamed.

Roleplay-wise, you're talking idealogically. If you look at Habbo.com and our history, you'd realize that the last thing the majority wants is a leader. If, say, ten SWRP regulars can't even set aside their differences, get along, and pick someone to lead them, how in the hell do you expect this many SWRP'ers to do so?

In a way, come to think of it, MorningRP was the closest thing to a community that exsisted in the roleplay over the Summer. Everyone who was a regular alongside me from 12-6AM got along perfectly, roleplayed together (I think we only had one or two fights, neither of which were spamfights but actual roleplaying), and had a good time. If you could encorporate all of the things that made morning roleplay so great into the massive rp we have, then MAYBE we could do this.

I'm not 'against' the idea per se, but it's a dream. That was MyCoke, this is Habbo. You can't take five or six girls and a batch of hormonal teenage boys and expect them to form an organized, mature roleplay overnight. Everyone needs to think in a positive mindset, not to mention stop being a self-righteous dickwad in order for us to even BEGIN making something like this.
