Jaadan of House Chaf stood where he was, rooted to the spot in angry surprise. The four ruling Aristocra sat in there chairs, watching him carefully behind calculating red eyes. Two black uniformed men stepped forwards and attatched circlets around the mans arms. He tried to break free of them but the cuffs thin link glowed blue and he lost motor functions abrubtly. He fell to the ground, caught barely in time by the two black-clad guard. Former members of House Csapla, if Ikayen remembered correctly. Telia watched them impassively beneath her sharp black fringe, arms folded impassively in her lap. As Jaadan was carried out, Ikayen stood up, followed by Yaniks and Telia whom followed closely behind him. Daffri remained seated for a bit, but Ikayen heard the creak of his chair while he walked down the hallway. They climbed some stairs as a unit, followed six paces behind by two CEDF guards. The observatory had another dozen soldiers inside, but Ikayen barely noticed them now - he had always been a military man. He even recognised a couple from his time as a soldier. Telia reached the window first, black dress sweeping the ground around her ankles. She showed no signs of emotion on her face. Draffi did, although Ikayen couldnt't tell if it was amusement or guilt. Ikayen frowned and looked out the window for himself.
The streets were lined with citizens held back by a thin but fearsome row of CEDF soldiers, guns held firmly across their chests. A procession was heading down the street, a full batallion of Colonial Phalanxes escorting ten men between them. Jaaldan was one, and the others were all prominent figures in or around House Chaf. Ikayen was vaguely aware of a smile slipping across Telia's face. She had always been a schemer, and while he was too he didn't take the same satisfaction. Purging them - how he loathed that word, but how fitting it was - had been a nessacary endeavour for many reasons, the least of which was the people's outrage at them having betrayed them to the Hemegony. Another word he loathed. Even so, the thought of were these men would be sent did not make him feel pleased, even if it did Telia.

The CEDF Commander stiffened as the ship landed on the surface of the planet. The dirt was hard beneath his boots, and the sun hung heavy in the air but he felt nothing except a growing feeling of dread. The strange ship settled down and a procession of Vaagri walked down the ramp. Those hidious masks were smiling, but he thought they would be snarling beneath. His men moved as once, shoving their prisoners forwards inbetween themselves and the Vaagri. A group of the Vaagri moved forwards and the assembled prisoners began to yell out in fear. The Commander ingored their pleas; he had accepted his orders. The Vaagri snapped odd blue-and-gold collars on their necks and hauled them off into the ships. The screams got louder, but still none of the CEDF men moved a muscle.
Slowly more shapes moved at the top of the ramp, but still not a word was said. He didn't know if it would work anyway, they spoke so differenty; even so, they had been told not to talk. Both sides knew the deal. They were to exchange the Chaf prisoners for a dozen of Wolvkil to be put into breeding. This was a dark deal indeed.

Sposia. The General stood on the lip of the ramp as the ship lowered itself onto the planets street. People crept forwards slowly, shocked to see the CEDF despite rumours that the Ascendency was back and strong once again. The General stepped off the ship first, followed by many CEDF men - though they were unarmed. Slowly the word spread, and the General and his men were led through bustling streets to a large domed building. Inside was were a Provisional Council had been set up after the Ascendency's departure. They had done well it seemed, and stayed loyal to the ways of the Ascendency. The General was pleased, and informed them they were to be rewarded greatly for such brave loyalty.
The Council held there meeting in private, while the General walked about the building. He met many old faces there, many pleased to see him. He noticed some were not, but they could be settled in time. A strange smile passed over his face, but it dissapeared as a door clicked open behind him. He nodded stiffly to the assembled Council members. "You have made your decision?"
"We have." A tall, elderly woman replied. "We shall accept induction back into the Ascendency with gratefulness." The General smiled, and the tension was broken.
