Ikayen slide his hand over the surface glass sqaure, a soft blue glow enveloping his hand briefly. As the light faded, the door to his chamber opened and his guard stepped inside, smart black uniformed outlined in the dark blue of his own House. Ikayen raised an eyebrow at the guard, who gave him a stout bow and then stood. "Fri'kaye'nuruodo," the guard addressed him formally, as always. "We have received news that House Chaf has been retired, with the last of the families eligible candidates having died late last night. The Ruling Families have indeed named House Nuruodo as the most eligible to take over as the Ruling House of the Ascendency," the man paused, as if he were going to add something but then thought against it. Ikayen stood up from were he was sitting and nodded once to the man. "Good." Everything was going to plan, then. "Fetch my cruiser, we shall be going to meet the representatives of the Houses. It is a good day for the Ascendency, perhaps now we may be able to restore it." The guard nodded, and gave a bow as he fell into step a pace behind Ikayen.

That had been a month ago now. Things weren't moving as damn fast as he had wanted them to; but then, when did anything go exactly to plan? Ever since the Ascendency had been suddenly swamped by the forces of the Hemegony they had been grasping at the fringes of their society to no avail. House Nuruodo had been the final bastion to re-secure Csilla from House Chaf - whom had surrendered. Ikayen sighed. Well, things were on track now. Csilla was securely back under control of a united Chiss Ascendency; the people were happy, and the Ruling Houses were relieved to have an end to the infighting. Things had always been peaceful in the Ascendency, and they craved that stability again. Ikayen had given it to them, and now he would restore it to the old colonies of the Ascendency, starting today. Ikayen looked up from his seat, out of the huge viewing window at the forefront of the ship, three others of the Chiss Defence Fleet with them.

Sarvchi had long been a colonial world of the Chiss Ascendency; its people long loyal too the Chiss, likely because of the peace that had almost always existed within its realms. They had been dissapointed when the Ascendency had left them. Always though, there had been the silent promise of return; and now they were here to keep their promises. In total Ikayen had taken four Clawcraft for the trip. Three would remain as an assurance too the people of Sarvchi that this time they were here to stay - never again would the Chiss submit to anyones dominance. Ikayen would see sure of that.

By the time he reached the planet, many of the people had lined the streets to greet the heralded leader of the Ascendency. He was thankful there were no elections here; just ancient loyalty which encompassed almost every person ever in Chiss space. All they had to do was visit the planets, show them there determination and resolve and they would open their hearts to the Ascendency again. Ikayen walked through streets lined with cheering people, a thin smile curving his face. He raised a hand and waved back to the small children pock-marking the crowd. The smile grew slowly, as the feeling that the Chiss Ascendency was finally in the process of restoration sunk in.
