Small shocks were coming from Kurt's wristwatch, causing his hologram to flicker on and off. At least he managed to teleport to the mansion's gate from his 4th Period chemistry class before his started to flash between a normal face five-fingered person and his real self of blue fur with pointy ears and a thin long tail. The plan to sabotage the chem class in order to make his quick escape had worked. He had to admit knowing half of the class will be at school with blue chemically died skin was an ironic spin for the beginning of the week. Once at the gates he immediately took off his wrist watch due to feeling small shocks to his wrist. "Something iist seriously vrong vith zis thing." He said to himself in a German accent. While holding the watch, it sparked causing Kurt to immediately let go and fall to the ground. He bent forward down letting his Blue tail sway in the winter air and placed the watch quickly in his cargo-pant pockets. As she stood back up, he gazed around the main entrance of Xavier Mansion to see if anyone was around.

Matt got out of the taxi open-mouthed as he stared out across the grounds of the institute. A sprawling campus with open fields, fountains and red brick structures met his gaze. Realizing that he had been holding in his breath, he quickly exhaled as he unpacked his luggage and unceremoniously paid the taxi man. He just couldn’t believe that this was going to be new residence, especially when compared to the New York slum he had grown up in. Maybe this won’t be so bad after all. He began to make his way towards the front gates, lugging his possessions behind him and gawking at his surroundings. True, he had vehemently resisted his parents’ wishes to send him here, and he had threatened to drop out of school forever if they refused to obey his wishes, but perhaps his anger was ill founded. Truthfully, he didn’t like to think that he was “gifted” or “special” or different in any other way from his classmates. The idea simply unnerved him. Matt generally tried not to think of his powers and had not used them since the “incident” that had gotten him expelled from the school system. However, upon seeing the institute in person, he began to feel like this may be too good an opportunity to pass up. Yes, he’d have to spend most of his time with muties…. mutants (he had to stop using that word). But with a pool, spacious grounds and free tuition he supposed that he could tolerate it. Yes, he was being hypocritical, but he didn’t need to be reminded every second of every day that the reason he was here was because he was different. Out of sight, out of mind, and no one needed to worry. Matt got to the front doors, shivering slightly in the cold winter air. Suddenly, he spotted someone near the front gates; a student, no doubt. Oh shit. A mutie… mutant. Matt corrected himself with a flinch. He cautiously approached the stranger; his luggage making loud scraping noises on the pavement as he dragged it behind him. It was a guy, from what he could make out. Just a normal guy, a guy I’m going to meet and have a cool greeting with. Matt reassured himself as the stranger dropped something and bent down to pick it up. That’s cool, I mean they just look and act like normal people, right? Just pretend they’re human and I’m sure we’ll get along famously. Calm and reassured, Matt approached the stranger with a wry smile on his face, when all of a sudden, disaster! For a split second, Matt saw, and he was sure he saw, a blue tail whip its way around from behind the person. Unable to control his actions, Matt dropped his luggage and gawked incongruously as he noticed even more strange features. Blue fur, pointed ears. It was simply too much to take, everyone in this school was a mutie, and he had been sent here as some kind of divine punishment. He regretted the words he moment they left his mouth. “You’re… you’re a freak!” Edited by Prism, Feb 10 2011, 08:49 PM.

A couple of feet away, what looked like a feminine statue perched on top of the wall surrounding the grounds, but a closer look would reveal that the eyes were moving slightly, her gaze following any bugs and birds flying by, a questioning look on her face each time she saw one. Seeing movement by the front gates, she turned slightly and walked along the wall on all fours like a cat, her fingers gripping the edges as chips of stone dropped to the ground, announcing her passing. Pausing when she got to where the gates divided the wall, she leant over slightly to look who was there. One was a stranger and she blinked, her attention switching to Kurt, one of the few she didn't seem to fear as in her mind, he looked as different to the others as she did, giving them a common problem. After a few secconds, she silently tilted her head to one side, curious to what exactly was going on down there. |

Before he even had time to even judge the other guy’s reaction, Matt suddenly spotted movement from the corner of his eye. Looking up, his eyes bulged and his mouth hung open in muted terror as he saw what looked like some type of creature. He didn’t know what to do, he couldn’t even scream. It was a flash of horrifying red, and was leaning over staring directly at him. So this is how I’m going to die. “HOLY SH*T” he managed to scream as he backed away before hitting his luggage, which toppled over onto the pavement. This was too much to take; this had to be a nightmare. He wasn’t even sure if mutants like this existed, let alone a mutation this terrifying. Without even knowing what he was doing, Matt instinctively twisted the light around him and shone a bright white beam directly into the creature’s face. He felt surrounded by the unknown, the terrifying, everything he’d learned to stay away from. “Stay away from me!” he managed to stammer as he clamoured over his luggage. There’s no way in hell I’m staying here. Edited by Prism, Feb 12 2011, 03:23 PM.

((ooc: Sorry about the wait)) The red-skinned girl skittered back at Matt's scream with a startled expression, then half-fell, half-leapt off the top of the wall to land inside the institute's grounds. Throwing a look of almost feral fear though the gates at him, she was off, running back towards the mansion before breaking off and heading towards the garden area around the back instead of inside the building. |

Matt stared in amazement as the girl landed on the ground from the high wall. She stopped and turned around with a look of animalistic fear. However, Matt noticed something else in those fear-stricken eyes;he noticed a look of intelligence, compassion, and humanity. She suddenly turned and ran off towards the back of the main building. Gasping, and not entirely sure what he was doing, he got up from his luggage and started to run after her. "Wait.. I'm sorry!" he managed to stammer as he tried to catch up to her and left the other mutant still at the front door. |

Seeing the screaming man running after her, Penance picked up the pace a bit, heading for the back-garden area, then quickly climbing a tree and pressing herself flat against a branch, waiting and watching for her pursuer. |

Turning a corner of the building, Matt suddenly gasped as his eyes fell on a snow-covered field, possibly a garden. Several trees stood at the corner of the expanse, and the mutant he had been chasing was nowhere in site. Catching his breath he cautiously began to step onto the soft snow, looking around him. A sense of panic suddenly overtook him. What was he doing? What if she was dangerous? His breathing began to once again quicken as he frantically looked for any sign of the mutant's existence. Suddenly, he noticed a strange trail in the snow leading towards one of the trees. Matt slowly approached the tree, peering upwards. |

The girl watched Matt as he came into view, tilting her head to one side with a wary curiosity as he approached her hiding place. Was he another of the indoor people, if so, they hadn't hurt her yet and she remained perched on the branch, not as making a single move as she looked at him. What did he want exactly? |

Getting no response from the stranger, Penance had blinked as hunger set in and she turned to look into the distance. She knew that the others came and went from the buildings beyond the gates with rustling bags of delicious-smelling things. Somewhat curious what such things tasted like, she had bounded down the tree and took off, heading towards the front gates, Once there, she could climb the wall and head towards that place and find something worthwhile to eat. OOC: Going to say she moved a little while back so Penny can have time to reach the town on a food-raid! |
