Abigail was finally starting to feel like the X-Mansion was her new home. It was a peculiar feeling staying away from her parents, but while she had taken vacations away from them before without a worry, moving states away for the rest of her high school life at least was a little unnerving. She kept to herself for the first couple weeks, afraid to talk to anyone else, but that was her way. It was a lonely life, and while Abigail was used to being alone, it didn't mean that she particularly liked it. However, once she finally felt like she should spread her wings, she had no clue as to what she could do. She had a couple books with her, but she didn't feel like rereading them at that particular moment, and there was no way that she could get to the library. She didn't feel like sketching in her sketchbook, either. With those two things gone, there wasn't much else she would do. Until she went through the few things that she had. Under her bed she had her field hockey stick and her field hockey ball from when she played on her high school's team back in Michigan. She didn't think that the school she technically went to had the sport, and she wasn't sure if she'd join up at that time anyway, mostly because she still couldn't completely control her elemental power. She could, however, do a few of the drills and take the ball outside for some fun. Grabbing a hoodie to put over her shirt, she walked through the school and then out of the doors, finding a nice and quiet place to practice. In fact, it was almost perfect, because it was the area where the kids played their sports. Dropping the ball on the ground, she started to get used to her stick again by pulling the ball back and forth with her stick, dropping into the athletic pose. Her pulls were jerky, rather uncontrolled and messy, but she hadn't played in over a year, so it was understandable. But she did strive to become better. So much in fact, that she soon wasn't paying attention to anything but her self made drills. Word Count: 398 |
