Name: General Nicolas Joseph Fury Gender: Male Age: In his nineties but appears to be late thirties/early forties thanks to the infinity formula. Affiliation: Director of SHIELD (Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate) Power: While he is not a mutant repeated inoculation with the infinity formula has stopped Fury from aging. Weakness: Despite all his skill and training he is just a man. Also he is blind in his left eye. Personality: At his core Fury is a pragmatist. His ability to see where he is, where he needs to be and the most efficient way to get from one to the other is what got him where he was today. More than once people have called him a clod hearted son of a bitch and some of the rumours that float around suggest that he has no emotions at all. That’s not the case. Fury just knows that in his line of work emotions only ever hinder so has learned to check them at the door when he steps into the office. One thing above all else Fury loves his country. In his youth he was little more than a rebellious down and out teenager until World War Two broke out. The experiences changeed him and instilled in him a profound sense of duty and loyalty to comrades and country. While few get the opportunity to find out Fury is at heart a good natured man and a firm friend. Physical description: Despite his advanced years Fury is still appears to be a man in his prime. Standing at 6’1” and 221lbs he is a picture of health. A rigorous exercise regime keeps him in peak physical condition. Catching some shrapnel in World War Two has left him blind in his left eye but it hadn’t hampered him much. He now wears an eye patch. ![]() History: Fury grew up in the 1920s depression in America. A rebellious youth growing up in Hell’s Kitchen, New York saw him get into more than his fare share of scrapes. At the behest of his friend he enlisted with the army where he excelled now having somewhere to channel his energy. He was picked out for an elite unit called the Howling Commandos and was made team leader. The unit undertook dangerous missions throughout the war, occasionally alongside Captain America and Jim Howlett, later known as Wolverine. It was during the war that Fury sustained two injuries that would have a serious impact on his life. First shrapnel from a grenade damaged his left eye. Second a land mine accident lead to him being inoculated with the experimental infinity formula. While it saved his life it also halted his aging process. After the war Fury was recruited by the CIA and served as one of their most successful agents. It was this success that lead to his appointment as director of the newest intelligence agency, Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate or SHIELD as it was better known, in the early 1960s. SHIELD’s mandate gave it free reign to defend America from any and all perceived threats. While the mutant situation was one of the problems that Fury had to deal with it was far from the only. HYDRA, an international spy organisation, Old Nazi war criminals, terrorists, the Soviets, Weapon X, religious zealots all caused Fury concern and each needed handling in a different way. SHIELD has managed to stay off public record for decades and Fury intends to keep it that way. With the mutant population on the rise SHIELD is becoming more active in keeping everything above board. Also Fury is now looking to the possibility of recruiting mutant agents. While his work with Logan hadn’t been smooth sailing Fury couldn’t argue with the results. The fallout was higher than he would have liked but Wolverine did get the job done. Xavier’s X-Men were also showing great potential. Perhaps it was time Fury put his own team together... |

Awesome! I just learned a ton about Nick Fury by reading that. This also makes things really exciting, because we've never had a Nick Fury before. *stamp of approval* On that topic, I wanted to discuss some things with you, so I'll send you a PM about it. *salutes* |
