Shay gave a reassuring smile, taking another bite of shrimp. "Don't worry about it, Sam; everything's fine," she said, trying to be assuring as she possibly could. "I'm not putting them before myself, I'm just...trying to help out, you know? It's really not that big of a deal." Yet in the back of Shay's mind, she couldn't help but wish that someone else was around to help out too. Someone, of course, besides her older brother. Then again, he was the very reason that she didn't want any extra help. She needed to show him that she could handle things on her own so that she wouldn't have to keep arguing about living there. |

The doubt was still in Samantha's mind, but she wasn't going to push the issue any harder. "Just know that I'm here for you, okay?" she said, smiling. "If you ever need to get away from it all, I'm here. And if Seamus and I get a house...come stay there, if it ever gets too much, okay? She sipped some more tea before adding playfully, "That's not a request, it's an order!" |

Shay offered a warm smile, genuinely touched by Samantha's offers and reassurance. "Thanks Sam...I'll be sure to remember that," she said, giggling lightly when Samantha threw in an extra two cents. "I mean--yes ma'am!" She gave a playful salute, finishing off the last of her lemonade. "But don't you worry about it either, alright?" she said, her voice taking on a gentle yet serious tone. "I can handle the Brotherhood...you just worry about Seamus, a house, and my little niece/nephew." |

"Good girl," she said, breaking open her last crab leg and devouring it's contents. "And I'll try not to worry too much," she said. "But I can't make too many promises." Her tone was teasing, but she was telling the truth. She looked down at her watch, "Lunch time is officially over," she remarked. "Did you want to go to the park, still?" |

"Sure, let's head over," smiled Shay, finishing off her last bit of shrimp and picking up her purse. After the two girls paid the bill and got back in the car, she set off in the direction of the park. "So, when are you and Seamus going to make it official?" she asked lightly, her tone teasing. "I was hoping to see a ring on your finger by now." |

As soon as they were seated in the car, Sam buckled herself in again. She couldn't help but laugh at Shay's question. "Oh, we've talked about it," Samantha admitted. "A few times. But we both want to wait a while, at least until after the baby is born...Especially when our relationship is strained sometimes, y'know?" She let out a small sigh. "We both want to make sure we can stick together before making such a huge decision...sometimes I think we both only stay together because I'm pregnant, and sometimes it seems like we can't imagine being apart." She looked out the window as they passed by shops and people walking along the street. When she looked at Shay, her expression was sheepish. "I'm sorry for getting so serious there, I know you were kidding, but I guess it felt good to just get some of it off of my chest." |

Sympathy flooded Shay's eyes as she took one hand off the wheel to reach across and place it on Sam's shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze of reassurance. "Hey, don't ever apologize for something like that," she said gently, glancing over at her briefly before her eyes returned to the road. "I know we haven't really talked a whole lot recently, but if there's anything you need...and I do mean anything...don't hesistate to call me or drop by the boarding house, alright? You're supposed to be able to get things like that off your chest; I mean, the built up stress isn't good for anyone." She gently let her hand slip from Samantha's shoulder and return to the wheel, just to turn into the parking area by the park. "And hey," she added, shifting the car into park as she turned to face Samantha. "As corny of a line as it is, that's what friends are for." She turned off the car and unbuckled her seat belt, flashing a grin as if the serious of the conversation might melt away with it. "But hey, wanna go for that walk now? I'm all ears now if you need to talk at all." |

Samantha smiled, genuinely grateful that she had a chance to talk about it all. "Thanks for being here for me," she said. "It really means a lot." She touched Shay's hand, smiling at her. When Shay's hand went back to the steering wheel, Samantha laughed. "Yeah, I don't know what I'd do without friends...probably go crazy." Samantha unbuckled hers as well, and she looked out the window at the park. It was such a wonderful day, and the park was still had a fair share of people, but a nice was sounded perfect after spending time indoors so much. "Definitely," said Samantha, grinning over at Shay as she opened her door. "After staying inside so much lately, my legs could use a good workout." |

"And to think that people say that money makes the world go round," remarked Shay with a roll of her eyes. "Money has nothing on friends." She got out of the car, shut and locked the doors, before heading around to join Samantha. With a smile she motioned to a small pathway that a lot of bikers typically went on. "How about we head down that way?" she asked. |

Samantha laughed at Shay's remark. "So true," she said. As soon as Shay joined her, she nodded at the suggestion. "Looks good to me," she said with a smile. As the two girls walked, Samantha took a few moments to look at the scenery. "It's a really beautiful day," she said after a little bit. After her little comment, Samantha began to think of a better subject. After all, it had been so long since they'd seen each other, was she really going to waste it on talking about the day? "So...how's Marina?" Samantha asked. "Err...I know that sounds sudden, but Seamus told me a while ago about some things going on, and I was a little worried about her, despite the fact she doesn't like me much." she laughed at the last part. What an understatement. |

Shay glanced sideways at Samantha, an eyebrow raising in a delicate arch of curiosity. "Oh did he?" she asked, a playful smile crossing her lips. "Well, you don't need to worry too much...Marina's actually been doing pretty well lately. I mean, yeah, there are still a few rough patches to work out, but overall...I think that she's really doing alright now." The playfulness faded from Shay's expression, leaving only a genuine look of happiness behind. She really couldn't express how glad she was for that. "So just what all did Seamus tell you about it?" she asked curiously. |

"Oh, that's good that she's doing well," Samantha said, surprisingly sincere. As much as she disliked Marina, she really didn't anything to be wrong with her, and Samantha couldn't help but laugh at Shay mentioning "a few rough patches". From Samantha's memory, that's all Marina consisted of. "He really only said something about her losing her memory. I don't think he himself knew a whole lot," she said in reply to Shay's question. "I'm sure it's probably a long story that's not even any of my business anyway, I was just a little curious." |

"Oh it's no problem at all," smiled Shay. "It's true, things did get a little rough for awhile there...alright, really rough for a bit...but it's getting better now. She's back to her old self, more or less. We're getting there." She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear before adding, "And if you really want to know the full story, I don't mind telling you. It's just long and...a little depressing at parts. I'd hate to have our get-away dampened by it. But if you want to know, I really don't mind telling you." |
