New Stuff Around the Site
Aaaaand it's time for our revival, for the billionth time. Oh, how we are a stubborn board that refuses to die. The Cbox is looking prettier than ever with rules next to them now, and there will be more new stuff to come. Also, because of this, the Cbox rules will no longer be part of the General rules.

Canon Characters
There are plenty of canon characters still up for grabs, so head on over to the character list to see which ones are available. If you find a character that you're interested in playing, leave a post in the Character Request thread to get started. We're looking for new members, and everyone here is super friendly, so take a look around (guests can view almost all the forums here) and leave a comment in the Guestbook if you have any questions or want to introduce yourself.

Mutant Powers: X-23 is a female clone created from Wolverine's genetic material, with some alterations. Like Wolverine, X-23's primary mutant ability is an accelerated healing factor that allows her to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissues with far greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. Injuries such as gunshot wounds, slashes, and puncture wounds completely heal within a matter of minutes. Her healing factor is developed to such a degree that she can reattach severed limbs. This is due to her regeneration ability not having to constantly fight an adamantium fused skeleton. Because of this, X-23 can technically heal faster than Wolverine. However, Wolverine can take more massive damage & still be combat capable. For example; if hit by a car or thrown through a brick wall, Wolverine can be up the next round while X-23 is still putting her bones back together. The effects of her accelerated healing powers extend to her body's immune system, rendering her immune to disease and infection. She is also immune to most drugs and toxins, although she can be affected by certain drugs if given sufficient dosage.
X-23's physical senses, strength, stamina, agility, and reflexes are heightened to superhuman levels. X-23 can track by scent can even use it to roughly guess where people are if she is blinded.
Like Wolverine, X-23 possesses retractable claws sheathed within her forearms. She releases the claws through the tissue of her knuckles, leaving small wounds which are healed by her healing factor. Unlike Wolverine, however, X-23 has only two claws that emerge from her fists. She possesses a single, retractable claw housed within each foot. These claws are actually made of bone and were forcibly coated with adamantium during the Weapon X process while X-23 was floating in Marvel’s trademark Mystery Green Fluid. Since the claws are laced with adamantium, they are virtually unbreakable and are capable of cutting almost any substance. Exceptions are adamantium & possibly adamantium alloys. Because of her age at the time of the process the fusing of her skeleton with adamantium was held off till she fully matured. X-23 went rogue before this could happen.

Skills: Born and raised in a Hydra research facility, X-23 has been trained to become a living weapon. She is highly trained in the use of long range weapons and explosives and is a formidable hand-to-hand combatant, with intensive training in numerous armed and unarmed martial arts techniques. She is also highly trained in espionage tactics.

History: Dr. Deborah Risman is a brilliant scientist that was tired of the constraints put on her research. Hydra offered her a job free of all restraints & with plenty of funding. At the time the moral questions about the end results of her projects were far from her mind. When X-23 was “born” this changed. It was one thing to stare at lines of DNA coding & think of an abstract specimen in a training regime. It was something else to see a baby girl put through the same thing. Maternal instincts that she never realized she had kicked in & Deborah tried to do what she could for X-23. She once told X-23 the fairy tale Pinocchio. Hydra found out some of what she was doing & made sure she stopped. Afterwards, Deborah just tried to help in subtle little ways. The end result was a double edged sword. On the one hand, the knowledge of family, caring relationships & such filled X-23 with resentment & rage over what she couldn’t have. On the other hand, it buried a seed of knowledge that it was there and could be had. It was the crack in the foundation of Hydra’s attempt to create an inhuman killing machine.
On a mission to infiltrate S.H.I.E.L.D. X-23 found some information on the X-Men & Wolverine in particular. The teenage years are an emotional rollercoaster for normal girls & for one as set to explode like X-23, this set her off on a new goal. Kill Wolverine & then herself to end it all. Deborah had been preparing for the possibility that she may need to leave fast. As soon as she found out X-23 went rogue, Deborah grabbed some secreted information & triggered a virus that wiped the Hydra facility of her work. Deborah then turned to the only people she could think of for help, S.H.I.E.L.D. & the original Weapon X. While studying the Mansion, X-23 observed the students interacting with each other. Once again X-23 felt the hole in her soul. She picked up Jean’s teddy bear & held it close in a way she secretly dreamed of being held. X-23 saw the kids interacting with affection that she was never allowed to have & filled the emptiness inside her the only way she new how. Rage. She knew her target was not there at the time so she took her time disabling the X-Men & students one at a time. Soon she had her confrontation with Wolverine. He tried to talk to her but she wouldn’t listen. She couldn’t listen, what he said spoke to her secret longing. A home, maybe even… family. Finally the crack that Deborah had placed grew & broke the walls Hydra & X-23 had put up. For the first time in her life X-23 cried. All the pain that she had felt, all the longing, all the fear. Her tears burst free & she felt Wolverine, hesitantly at first, put his arms around her. X-23 collapsed, holding him like a drowning man holding onto driftwood. In Wolverine’s arms she felt the comforting safety that only a child could feel in a parents arms. Then the helicopters sounded in the distance & her old training kicked in. Wolverine told her to go & knowing what S.H.I.E.L.D. would do, he kept them from finding X-23.

X-23 spent some time thinking about what to do. She knew that Hydra would keep looking for her. If she did go back to the X-Men Mansion, back to Wolverine, she would only bring Hydra to them. X-23 decided that the only thing to do was to destroy Hydra. X-23 tracked down any base, safe house, and facility that Hydra had in the North American Region. She realized that the only way for her to get to the supreme Hydra was to allow herself to be captured. Hydra nearly messed this up when they captured Wolverine as bait. Being used to stoically hiding her feelings, X-23 never let Wolverine see how much it tore her up inside to lie to him. X-23 almost broke down when Wolverine told her that Dr. Risman had wanted to name her Laura. X-23 tride to pretend her shaking was anger at being reminded of the facility. In the end, her plan worked & she destroyed the Supreme Hydra’s mobile base & killed (in the unconfirmed Marvel way) the Supreme Hydra herself. Afterwards, Wolverine once again kept the S.H.I.E.L.D. hounds at bay while she left.

X-23 then left to do some thinking. She lived in the wilderness, hunting little furry creatures & pondering her next move. Hydra was gone, or at least no longer an immediate concern. In her search she heard that Dr. Risman had defected to S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. X-23 wasn’t sure what to feel about Deborah. She was the closest thing to a mother that she ever had & that wasn’t saying much. Should she go talk to her? Should she go to the X-Men Mansion? As X-23 looked into her campfire she thought about the students at the Mansion. She though about Wolverine & her arms tightened around herself into a hug. X-23 remembered the story Deborah told her about Pinocchio, the puppet that became a real boy. Now that she had thrown off the strings of Hydra, if she was a “good” girl, she could be a real girl with a real family now. Tears started to fall again and she knew what she wanted. X-23 made up her mind to go back to the Mansion.

Personality: Having been raised in a near emotionless environment, X-23 has a hard time dealing with strong emotions. For a long time the sight of emotions she was denied filled X-23 with unstable rage. As she learns, X-23 either acts out immediately or she takes time to try to think out how to respond. She is used to putting on her expressionless mask & still does when she is unsure how to respond. Her two greatest fears are that she will do something that will make Wolverine tell her to leave, or that something will happen to her new family.
X-23 is unsure what to think about Dr. Risman. Although X-23 wouldn’t be able to explain how she feels in words, she unconsciously sees Wolverine as a father figure. She unconsciously seeks his approval & tests his limits at the same time. X-23 also wants a proper name. Not a Hydra designation.
X-23 is quit knowledgeable about infiltration & assassination tactics, but she is clueless about some “basics“ of normal society (hilarity ensues).

Why I did what I did & Questions: Although Kyle & Yost did the writing for both the Animation & the Comic, I took the general facts from the Animation. Characters in X-Men Evolution do not quite use the same backgrounds as the Comics.

First, the adamantium skeleton. In the comic origin story they say that X-23 was to get the adamantium treatment when she was fully developed. In the animation they just say that she went through the Weapon X program & it showed her popping her claws out. In the last episode where it shows her as part of the X-Men as an adult she looks more developed. I don’t think an adamantium coated skeleton would allow her to fill her hips out like that! (^o^) So I decided to go with the no adamantium skeleton.
Second, In the animation they said that X-23 was denied emotional contact & that Dr. Risman was told in no uncertain terms not to break this. The comic had more contact between Dr. Kinney & X-23. I decided that the specific orders given to Dr. Risman might imply that she did try at first & was in trouble for it. Deborah did go immediately for help when X-23 escaped…
Third, In the comic they used Dr. Kinney as the host mother for X-23. In the animation they didn‘t specify. I did notice that while Wolverine has brown eyes, both Dr. Risman & X-23 have green eyes, the same skin tone & that while Deborah has blonde hair, X-23 has lighter hair than Wolverine. Coincidence? That is something for the Game Master/Moderator to play with. (^_^)

Why can't I make things easy...

Looks good. The no adamantium skeleton thing should be interesting. Only thing I really notice is that she's really short. I would've thought she'd be at least my height...

Anyways, I do agree that she'll need a name. I would have said Laura because that's just what I know from comics and such, but since it was Dr. Kinney that did the naming, I suppose you could make it how you want. You could start playing her without a name and actually play out the events in which she gets a name or chooses a name for herself if you wanted.

Oh, and the last thing is up to you as well. Going into town and looking up Xavier or having already been there a bit, you can decide which you like best. Either is fine with me, as long as you let us know which is the case when you post.

Gimme a reply on what you decide, and change stuff if necessary, then I'll give you the stamp of approval and lock up the bio.

P.S.: I laughed out loud at "little fuzzy creatures".

Sorry about the late reply.

I modified the character Bio Post.

I changed the height to make her a little taller. A friend of mine who was a big Wolverine fan told me Woverine was really short. The animated show is a little vague. He sometimes looks shorter than the other adults & sometimes he looks the same size. I knew a couple of girls at work who are 5' 02" so I went with that.

I went with Laura for her name. I added a bit in the history part that had wolverine telling her about it during the "Target X" episode. I figured that if she had one that Deborah would have told Logan during the "X-23" episode. When X-23 & Logan "met" at the end of "X-23" there wasn't much time for him to say much to her.

I think I'll go with having X-23 just getting into town and making her to the school from there.

If you want me to change or add anything else let me know. B)
