So IGN is going around saying Retro has been working on a DK game. An industry insider from NeoGAF says it's been in development since 2006. Not much more is known, not even a title, but it looks pretty likely at this point. Crosslinking with the DKU topic.

Remember I was just saying the other day how DK is the one major character that needs to be brought back in the limelight? He needs reinvention in the 3D world, and if it's true I can think of no better dev than Retro.

Yeah, I suppose Donkey Kong 64 was no Super Mario 64.

DK64 was better than Banjo-Kazooie, it was just worse than Donkey Kong Country is all.

That's certainly debatable. I have fun when playing Banjo-Kazooie. Can't really say the same for DK64...

Donkey Kong 64 actually IS the sequel to Banjo-Kazooie, it just doesn't show. The Stop N Swap was going to be in it.

Yeah, and that's one of the BIG problems with it. DK64 shouldn't have felt like a "sequel" to Banjo-Kazooie, let alone an overwhelming and tedious one.

Pretty much, yeah. DK64's biggest problem? Having to comb every level five times. Not their most brilliant move.

I'm sure everyone knows at this point, but the Retro Studios Donkey Kong title is called Donkey Kong Country Returns. And it looks pretty amazing.

Well, Epic Yarn and Skyward Sword are stupid names too, so blame Nintendo for that one.

Gee, and to think I enjoyed Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64 and Banjo Tooie. :P

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this new title. It's looking pretty good so far. I enjoyed New Super Mario Bros Wii (haven't played much of DS) a lot, so I'm hoping this is a good re-invention to the series as well.

Epic Yarn is brilliant. It's a play on words. Epic Yarn being a great story, and it being a Yarn style story.

I didn't pick up on that. Ok I guess I'll let that slide. ;)

But Donkey Kong Country Returns? Who names a game that. Makes me think of Batman Returns. But at least that title makes sense.
