Did anyone hear about how stupid Sonic fans are being and saying that they're "protesting Sonic 4 by buying the classic Sonic games"?

Or boycotting it.

Yeah.

It's stupid.

Yeah, this pretty much proves how dumb we Sonic fans are. We're boycotting Sonic by buying Sonic games.

Whatever. I plan on buying Sonic 4, that's all that truly matters. I can have a grand old time and all those Sonic fans can go eat a ham.

He kinda runs like he does in Sonic Advance 2 and 3, though it actually looks dopeyer than it does in SA2 or 3. B102 makes a fair point when he says that this points to a certain carelessness on Sonic Team's end (I think B102 is the one that made that point?), but I don't know if we can really judge the game's quality before seeing its level design through.

I haven't played those games, I don't know what the running in them looks like. Unless it's completely glitched out or something, though, it shouldn't detract from the experience of the game.

Actually, that might enhance the experience.

I can't even care. I'm hard pressed to remember why I even got into Sonic in the first place.

It was probobly peer preasure. Golem used peer preasure.

Well I have played the new sonic game, right here on this website. It showed sonic running and there were rings and it said something like "jump" so I clicked it but some stupid popup came up. So i agree, this game should totally be boycotted. No other sonic game I ever played caused my computer to get a pop up.

Yeah Golem, that's how I feel about it too. I'm sure I'll like Sonic 4, and if they're going to make a big deal over the dumbest crap, then it's their fault.

Well, the thing is, in the original trilogy Sonic charges runs full speed like the determined badass that he is. In Sonic 4, however, he jogs along in a sorta casual stride, even when he's going pretty fast. Also, puffs of smoke inexplicably billow from his shoes when he's not even running very fast.

This alone doesn't break the game, but still, remember that they're trying to sell it to us as Sonic 4. They're trying to sell it as a return to form (his 'glory days'), praying on the fans' childhood memories. After all that, getting the running animation down (the classic 16-bit sprite is shown on every load screen, btw) would seem like common sense, right?

At this point, there's actually a fair amount of leeked footage online at our critical disposal. From the one level that I've seen, it looks okay; It's pretty boring and bland but at least has a bit more platforming involved than recent sonic, and the badniks look ok. On the other hand, the minecart level looks terrible.

Having fans like this is why they were able to survive on such crappy 3D games for so long...
