South Asian members please give your input.. The logo above of the Mahâbhârata was the only decent picture I could find. Any other suggestions? Also, I believe atleast 2 of the active 3 Indian members are Dravidians. Anything Dravidian? Jhangora, are you Dravidian as well? |

On artistic grounds I like it since it blends in nicely to the background of the forum; so I will go with it!
Id like to think that guyanese have both South and North Indian ancestry. Most of out ancestors were from the Bhojpuri (IE) speaking part of Uttar Pradesh although some of them on both sides of my family at least have South Indian Tamil ancestry. I dont want so speak for Janghora but I think he is from Uttaranchal (?), so probably IE speaking. Eg. Bojpuri chickas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azFgmCpeAzU Edited by Ibra, Mar 28 2009, 03:58 AM.

I always thought you were Dravidian! Starting with the name Ibra. So, does your parents speak a South Asian language, and what is it, Bhojpuri?
Yes, I remember him saying that he spoke something close to Hindi.
Yes, I'm checking it out now. |

Bhojpuri still spoken in Suriname and Fiji and other places where most of the same group of Indians went. However two generations ago Bhojpuri and other languages were overshadowed by Caribbean English as the lingua franca in Guyana mainly due to British influence and the need for cross linguistic/ethnic communication. However Bhojpuri represents a significiant superstratum in indo caribbean english. Edited by Ibra, Mar 28 2009, 09:33 AM.

What's This

The logo is towards right hand side on my computor's monitor. Try and fix it to the centre. It is a nice image but I think considering this forum is dedicated to anthropology we shud have something more old. Maybe pics of cave paintings in Madhya Pradesh. Wud try and find out some good pics tomorrow. |

It is in the center on my comp. I'll have to see if there is a code that adjusts to every computer. I hope the Indian members will use this skin (In fact, I'll it up as a default skin for the 3 Indian members because I am overly enthusiastic about the idea that everyethnic group can have their own skin; but you can reset to another skin if you like.) I'll call it Mahâbhârata Blue. Meanwhile, I'm moving on to another skin, as I hit a dead end on this Indian skin for now, since I can't find any long enough pics. (I'll come back to it.) This skin is far from finished and when I do, it will look fantastic! |

The new background is sober and nice. But why it takes so much time to load? I mean in my case(chrome browser), first the background loads slowly then other items are displayed. |

Because all the ibackground mages are loading from the same place now. I'll make some changes that will make it faster. |

Download Speed: 425 kbps (53.1 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 145 kbps (18.1 KB/sec transfer rate) Latency: 299 ms I think something to do with firewall settings. Edited by manju, Apr 9 2009, 10:50 AM.
