Guidelines for judging; For our judges

I'm posting this publicly so there's no controversy later.

Here's how games should be judged

Each game should be judged according to it's own merit, I'm asking all of our judges to NOT COMPARE games to Professional games. (Ie. this game sucks in comparison to Final Fantasy 3) the only reason to compare a game to professional games is if you believe it's better.

Every game is ranked on a score of 50, each judge will take all the MAIN elements in the game, then rank each element, then add up the scores and give an overall score. (once you hit the overall score, this is where you can loose points for bad spelling, or not packaging the resources) then right a little blurb on the game

Just a quick note, once a game is rated, it's rating can only be changed By ME, no matter how much you complain, your rating is your rating.
Only one judge will rate your game.

IE (for RPG)
Joe's adventure (5 categories, so each category get's 10 points)
Story 1/10
graphics 3/10
sound/music 6/10
Special features 9/10
enjoyment 1/10
<enjoyment is a required category for all games>

Overall score (-1 for spelling, -1 for not including a link to rtp)
18/50

Joe's adventure is the tried and true story of a guy who lost his memory, however, right after the opening scene, no real mention is made of his condition. (and strangely enough he remembers characters you meet later)
The graphics in this game really don't appeal to me, all the towns looked the same, all the houses looked the same.. they looked good, but it was like he made six maps, and copied them and renamed them
The music is all homemade, so hearing some unique non FF stuff was great, but I feel it never really fit the scene
Where this game shined is the Battle system.. literally it blew me away, it's a brilliant real time battle, but it makes you think as you fight. SO you really can't just hammer the space bar.
someetimes your enemy is weak and sometimes you're weak.. so you need to plan ahead
Finally I didn't really Enjoy this game, I was glad when I got through the demo, But it didn't offer anything special... further.. the spelling was awful.. overall.. not a good game

Example for a puzzle Game

Puro Poppy (3 categories, so two categories gets more points then the others, its up to the judge how much each category gets)

Graphics 1/16
Music/sound 5/17
Enjoyment 4/17

overall score 10/50

This game is all red, blue, and green squares, oh, and the occasional picture of an anime chick telling you it's the next round..
As you swap squares and pass through levels, it becomes strangely frustrating, that despite a tutorial, you still don't know what the frap is going on. THe music is the same four songs randomly played.. all good songs.. but not over, and over again.
While this game does make you think, and can be addicting to play, it's not really enjoyable.
