Tales of Symphonia: Nintendo GameCube Gameplay: The gameplay in Tales of Symphonia is by no means standard to an RPG. It has the classic puzzles, but also brings in a new element with the use of "The Sourcerers Ring". This is a powerful ring that allows you to shoot balls of an element in front of you. This makes for some very interesting puzzles. But what really sets Tales of Symphonia's gameplay apart is the battle system. In a real-time battle, triggered by visible encounters, you fight in the style of a 2d fighter. With customizable AI for your party members, this is by far the best RPG battle system I hace ever come accross. 10/10 Sound: The music and sound effets match the gameplay. Absolutley amazing. The voice overs are full of believable enthuiasm and emotion. The music is wonderfully put together, and never out of place. Also, there are very nice sound effects for this such as fire. 10/10 Story: Wow...just..wow. Even if the rest of the game sucked I would of played through this game just for the story. You play Lloyd, life long friend of the chosen of mana. The chosen of mana is collette, it is her duty by birthright, to regenerate the world with mana. However, as well as this straight forward storyline, there are several other storys intertwined. Aswell as story, the character building is some of the best I have ever seen. There is a relationship level, that has an outcome on the ending of the game. I am not joking when I say I felt like I knew the characters it was that good. You will fall in love (in a non-sexual way) with these characters. 10/10 Graphics: The graphics in this game were perfect for the setting, story and overall theme. The characters were cell-shaded, designed by renowned artist Kosuke Fujishimam creating a nice effect against the textured backgrounds. The game was incredibly colourful, which helped set the scene and create the happy mood this game was trying to portray. When there was a particularly dramtic cutscene, high quality anime would be used to exentuate this. Once again. The only thing that was wrong with the graphics was some of the actions by the characters. For instance, Collette is a clumbsy person who often trips over, when she did this however it was almost ins low motion which looked a bit "off" to be honest. Aside from that they were amazing. 9/10 Overall: This game is amazing. Any fan of RPGs needs to buy this game right now. It is by far the best RPG I have ever played, possibly even contending Zelda for best game ever (in my opinion). Overall: 9/10 |

It's been out almost a year its a gcube exclusive. I thought the game was okay... The gameplay was fantastic (if too ez), but the story was complete trash... Here's the story in a nutshell: You are the friend of "The chosen" and you need to run around the world as a side character to the main one and get items from caves... |

In a nut shell that is many RPGs. Except for the fact it doesn't bring in the extra emotion of jealousy in most games. Complete trash? I don't know what your on about sir. If your "in a nut shell" description was how you interpreted the story, you, you missed A LOT. |

Yeah I agree with you there. At the begining I was like "Arrgh cant beat boss" but then at the end they were all down first try. But, a good thing is when you replay it you can choose to make it harder by halfing experience gained

Done deal.

Meh, it was okay. I do agree that it was too easy towards the end, and the story was kinda weird to me. Bought, played, beaten, and traded it in. I still like Tales of Eternia (Tales of Destiny 2) better... |
