I found this site with RPG cliches. I figured it could be useful here since this site's all about making RPGs. http://project-apollo.net/text/rpg.html I gotta admit, the RPG I'm making is guilty of a few of those cliches. And I've only read up to cliche #100. I had to stop at that point. I plan to finish reading it someday. My favorite is the one where it says: "Throughout your travels you will find a number of useful spells that cause status conditions and instant death to your enemies. However, using them in random monster battles is useless, as you'll just kill the random monsters soon anyway. And most bosses will have immunity to these spells, making them useless in long battles where you'll really need them. However, if these status condition and instant death spells are used against you and your allies, they will work 100%." It's hilarious because it's sadly true! Note that that cliche was from memory since it would take too long to go search through 100 cliches to find it again. |

no time to check out now, but ill tell you this. in my games, you DO get aloot of those stat conditions spells. however, they actually are useful. whether your fighting for your life against a boss or trying to beat the odds against a pair of zombies, spells like confusion silence and sleep are life savers. hehe, here are my cliches. # 193: The Repition of Cliches Cliche: If you ever get stuck anywhere in a game, you can always look back at an older game that you have played, and it turns out the answer is there somewhere due to the repition of that idea thus making it a cliche. If that fails, wait for another game to come out that has the same idea of the one you're stuck on. Until that happens, take a trip around the world in your game to pass time. And by around the world, i mean AROUND THE WORLD. see: The Second Final Law of Travel # 194: Adam Smith's Revenge 2: In 30% of the games out there, by the time you reach the final boss, prices could of gone up anywhere between 5% and 500%. # 195: The Second Final Law of Travel: You seem to be able to cover 1,000 miles of ground by holding the up arrow for about 10 seconds while on the world map. This law does not apply for vehicles (in which you can get over 100,000 miles or more) and excludes teleportaion. # 196: The Incredibly Cheap Dollar Store Rare Items of Domination Apparently incredibly important rare items seem to break easily, especially crystals and bags of magic sand (hey, how long has this hole been here?) # 197: The Incredibly Cheap Dollar Store Rare Items of Domination Collary: In some cases, the important rare item of domination is something you have to destroy, in which case will be nigh indestructible (because of the traditional force field. If you come upon a similar item, read The Repition of Cliches Cliche for an answer.) # 198: The Incredibly Cheap Dollar Store Rare Items of Dominaton Collary Answer: Typically, the generator that makes the shield will either be a giant generator or another orb. These too, will also be nigh indestructible. # 199: The Incredibly Cheap Dollar Store Rare Items of Dominaton Collary Answer Collary: In some stupidly rare cases, there will be a shield guarding the shield generator guarding the Incredibly Cheap Dollar Store Rare Item of Domination. If this is true, you are screwed. #200: The Incredibly Cheap Dollar Store Rare Items of Domination Collary Answer Collary Answer: If the previous is true, you are playing an impossible replica of Star Wars. Please read The Repition of Cliches Cliche to find an answer, or stop playing the game. I will try to add more, but for now, what do you all think? |
