I exit to the balcony of my Tenpenny Tower penthouse wearing only a skimpy nightie, letting the warm glow of the morning sun hit my pale flesh. I survey the Wasteland, knowing that I have exacted my brutal domain over every scarred rock and misshapen soul who I have happened to have spared. They know fear, and as such they know me. I begin producing frag mines from my inventory. I set one at my feet and activate it. Then another. And another. And another. There are dozens of them now around my bare legs, scores of them, each silently waiting to fufill its purpose. I am shaking in excitement, yet I dare not move. I reach to the table over Tenpenny's looted and headless corpse presides, still enjoying his last silver cup of tea. I heft the Experimental MIRV across the length of my arm and position it upon my shoulder, all the while keeping my feet perfectly still. I am as if a slate of marble from the waste down, ready to be reshaped. I check the pressure on the launcher and prime the warhead. I stop for the slightest of moments, realizing that this sensation will be the last thing I ever feel. I smile, having mentally thrown myself upon the mountain of corpses I have made to bring me into the here and the now. Then I aim at the mines below me and depress the trigger. Here I come. |
