White Boy

My father woke me up at 5:35, five minutes later than I usually wake up. Apparently, I forgot to set my alarm. I laid there for an extra minute or two. I don't like Mondays. I haven't met anyone yet who likes them. Didn't bother to complain about it in my head. I hopped out of my bed and walked out of my room, with my uniform clothing in one hand while I grabbed a towel and bath rag with the other. Put them down so I can get a cup of water from the kitchen. Came back and went into the bathroom. Immediately, I placed my contacts in and hopped in the shower. Surprisingly enough, I already burned 10 minutes. I gotta be ready to leave for the bus at 6:15. My habits of waking up really has changed quite a bit, compared to my old days at Riverdale. I woke up at 5, showered, put contacts in, and sat on my computer until we finally left half and hour later. Now, I sacrifice more time in order to get a little bit more comfortable sleep. Besides, now I have to leave 30 minutes earlier. That's a whole hour off of getting ready compared to Riverdale days, since I wake up at 5:30 now. For showering, I used Pert and Old Spice. Though, I prefer Axe over Old Spice because Old Spice, for some reason, makes the hair over my eyes more likely to itch my forehead. Really annoying when you're on a shaky bus. So I'm done with the cleanin', and I throw on my clothes and start fixing up my hair. Takes awhile to get it how I like it, but it's not a waste of time. Looks something like this: ![]() (Looks even better from the front; trust me. Though, I'm getting a "trim" anyway this coming Friday.) By then, it was 6:05. Only had 10 minutes, and I didn't want to go to school hungry. I looked around the pantry and fridge and didn't find anything interesting. But then, at the last moment of hope, I remembered that we had some Raisin Bran! Yay! Quickly, I poured myself a bowl and sat at our only months-old dining room table. I stared at the television in the living room in order to keep up with time. I only had 5 minutes to eat. No problem. I was munching through it, and had a spare minute afterward to get my sweater and school bag. Off to the bus stop I went, which was only one block away. The cold wind distracted me. It was the kind of weather I thought I wouldn't see again until next winter. Seriously, it's usually in the 70s and 80s by this time of year. But anyway, it was around the mid 40s because of the wind chill. Kody, Kyle, and David were there to meet me at the bus stop. We stood there for a few cold minutes before the bus arrived. They were talking about Street Fighter 4 or something like that. But ah, the cold weather. Little too early to go to a school for 6:50. I was starting to wish we had that other bus lady at the beginning of the year, who came to pick us up around 6:45. That way, I would've been waking up at 6 everyday! So we got on the bus, which usually isn't crowded. That way, we had our own seats. I sit around the middle of the bus. Too far or too close is odd for me. Kyle sits in front of me, and Kody sits behind me. David sits on the right side, while us three sit on the left side. I sit in a diagonal position so I have more leg room. (I'm six feet tall for Christ sakes.) As the bus turned onto River Road, my Zune's headphones were already in my ears. I felt better than usual on this Monday, and I wasn't tired. I listened to Green Day's American Idiot, starting from the track "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". I'm awaiting for their upcoming album that's going to be out in May. Oddly enough, the distance from my house to Higgins was almost the exact same from my house to Riverdale. So, I still had to deal with the whole 15-minute ride every day. We had to wait another 10 minutes at the school before we were allowed to go in. Long enough for me to hear the rest of "Homecoming". Hehe. The design of our school was quite basic. No second stories, and it's basically a rectangle with the courtyard in the middle. Kyle and Kody go to the gazebo everyday, while David and I head our way to our little hang-out spot with all our other friends. It isn't far; we hang out near a bench at the top part of school. We stood there with all our friends (pretty big group) like every day, coming up with some funny crap to keep us entertained with the 25 minutes we had out there. Some of the friends, on the top of my head, are Don, Josh (those two act quite white for being black), Jordan, Julian, Marissa, Chris, Allen, and a lot more. Makes me wonder why Kyle doesn't hang out with them during breakfast and lunch time. He just sits in the gazebo. I guess he's tired of them from those three years he had with them at Henry Ford Middle. Bell finally rings, and I walk my way to my homeroom. I never go to my locker anymore for the time being. It's a waste of time for a few books that I can simply carry around the whole day. Jordan is the only one from the our crowd that's in my homeroom, but we don't talk during this period. It's more like a "brace for impact (classes)" period. where we have our heads down and stuff. Oddly enough, of the 12-14 people in my homeroom, we're quite segregated race-wise. All the white sit on the left side, while all the black sit on the other side. I'm serious when I say "all". I just stared off at the white, dirty wall, instead of the usual little nap time. I still wasn't tired. Though, I knew I was going to be as soon as I walk into my next class (geometry). Therefore, I'm in a lose/lose situation every day. Fortune was on my side for once. When it came to my next class, it wasn't soon before I found out that my teacher's class was being used for the make-up days for state testing (which we just took last week). Thank. God. We had to chill in the gym with the seniors. Geometry included most of the friends from our crowd. I sat next to Allen, Casey (old elementary friend), and Kyle. We somehow started talking about fights we had before, and I also told them some Riverdale stories like about how I witnessed a student get chased by the police, since the guy had a gun and stuff. We had nothing else to do but talk. Also, the substitute treated us like kindergartners. Then again, what teacher doesn't? Next class: science. Basic physics pretty much. It was mostly the kids that I had last period. We got to our class and was immediately assigned work. Our teacher has been out since last week, and he won't be back for weeks. Something medical, but he assigned us a load of work to do. He's going be grading it while he's chilling at his house, since apparently someone's going by his house and bringing it to him. The worksheets we had today were pretty simple. After that, we just sat on desks near our friends again and chatted. Substitute didn't mind it, fortunately. It was a settle period, besides all the play-fighting Allen and Rob were doing. Lunch time, baby. Since I was all the other side of school, I had to fast walk my ass there. Dallen from Riverdale caught up with me on my way there. (Yeah, Dallen followed me to Higgins. :P) We both went to the hot lunch line and winded up with the ingredients to make a fajita. Anyone could agree that our lunch was much better than Riverdale's. They still had the dry burger and the greasy ol' fries, you know, but they also had a Subway line and an actual hot-lunch line, which I usually go to. We sat at our usual spots. The tables are long and are linear. I'd rather have the circled tables back at Riverdale. Ate my lunch and walked out as soon as I did. Headed my way towards the gazebo, since our crowd is unusually spread out around the school during lunch for some reason. From there, I watched the seniors kill some time by throwing crap around like they always do. I can't do anything but to think that they're the loser clique of the seniors. Like, the ones who are goofy but just not mature enough, you know? Well, at least I'm cool with some seniors. David, Kyle, Jordan, Phoebe, and I basically sat/stood around making general conversation while the seniors threw around a huge paper ball. My third class was a computer class, fortunately. And the teacher's pretty cool. Probably one of the coolest yet educating teachers around. She always let's us just sit around on the computer the whole period without any work. Starting to become a habit for her. I found a new proxy that actually isn't blocked (for now; school system certainly spies on the sites we visit). I'm serious, they blocked this one proxy the day after I used it. I sat in the third row near the back, all the way to the right side so I have a wall to lean against. I had Don to talk to (sits next to me) while Kyle sat in the row behind me. Wasted the whole period reading funny stories on Fmylife.com. Fourth class. I hate it. Not because that it was English II, but because the school put me in a regular course for this subject, not honors. I would've minded the easy regular course if it wasn't for the LOUD GHETTO BLACK B*TCHES. And if our teacher wasn't so horrible at keeping his class under control, I wouldn't have to hear these chicks that make me think someone stuck them in a small room with loud music for three weeks. They're so Gog-damn loud. Basically, the whole class is filled with sophomore idiots. (I'm a subject ahead in English, so I'm had to be stuck with sophomores.) You would think I was a genius compared to them. And you think I'm lying... But yeah. Today, these stupid chicks went apesh*t on the teacher (includes: loud yelling) because they couldn't pass a simple comprehension test. (I obviously got a hundred on it, even when I slept through the story.) Went on for ten minutes; I didn't last for five without my Zune headphones in my ears. My teacher doesn't care what I do, because I'm not a loud ass mofo like every student in the class. I jammed to some Green Day again for the hell of it. After that, I basically waited until class was over. Time to go! Went to my bus that's already there. (She comes early.) Sat in my spot, watched the bus fill up, and started to jam to the artist 3OH!3. Now I'mma here. |
