So uh my mom started a depression or whatever, I dunno what's wrong with her, and she started taking anti depression pills. She's really agressive lately because of that, and it's *censored* annoying. It happened the same thing with my friend's father. Any thoughts on that?

I think I know more about anti-depression meds the most on this forum, not to brag or anything so maybe I can help. I'm not a doctor or anything but here's my input.

Anti-depressants take a LONG time to fully take effect, most MAOIs and SSRIs take 4-6 weeks for a person to feel full relief, but some report instant effects. What your mom is experiencing is normal, so just try and be patient with her and talk to her about it and let her know how her mood change has been affecting you.

If you don't mind my asking, what was she prescribed? In the past year and a half I've been on Paxil, Zoloft, Cymbalta and anti-anxiety pills like Klonopin, Xanax, Valium, etc... For awhile I was even misdiagnosed as bipolar so they had me on Valproic Acid and Lithium, Seroquel, Gabapentin and Abilify.

This is going to be frustrating to hear but sometimes it takes a while before a person finds an anti-depressant that works for them, as they all can affect a person differently even though the FDA has classified them in the same family.

Like I said, just be patient with your mom, and encourage her to constantly consult her doctor if she doesn't feel right on what she is on. It isn't uncommon that a person has to try several types of medication before they feel better. If she really is depressed speaking to a therapist always helps in addition to the medication.

Hope I helped...

Doesn't she have a small bottle for those pills? Just knowing the kind she takes and/or the secondary effects could help you understand her behavior better.

If she's taking just anti-depressants she should tell him but if they're anti-anxiety most of those are narcotic and she might be hiding them for that reason. Not that Tedyz is gunna try and steal them but they put those stupid commercials across America about "Oh hide your pain meds and your anxiety meds your teen is gunna abuse them and get high blah blah bull"
