Is the entire Zelda series just overall perfect? What I mean is that most brilliant games start out being 2-D but when we see a future release of a game in 3-D it usually turns out like a piece of rubbish! For example Mario games, Mario Bros 1, 2, and 3 plus Super Mario World are excellent. Mario 64 is quite decent but what the hell happened to Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy? I found that the Gamecube and Wii Mario games suck! Don’t know if it’s just me but I think it was aimed for an audience of 2-5 years, it isn’t hardcore. I found that Mario himself was quite a dark character back in the mid 80’s to the mid 90’s, especially in the cartoon series. It’s the same with the Castlevania series. All the Castlevania 2-D games are excellent but playing them in 3-D? erm…. NO! It doesn’t work for me, it doesn’t feel correct and it isn’t the same game, it’s another game just titled Castlevania. I could go on but I won’t. Zelda on the other hand is just purity at its best! The 2-D games are just brilliant and when they adapted the games to a new whole 3-D aspect, the developers thought about putting love into the games as well as making money. (Obviously they've got to make money from this.) The controls work great in OoT and MM. WW adapts perfect to the Gamecube controller. When I play 3-D Zelda games they still feel 2-D but with all the fun and freedom of a 3-D game, If you understand what I’m trying to say. OK I’ll shut-up now Phew! All I want is your opinion, do you agree with what I’ve said so far or maybe you prefer 2-D over 3-D or vice versa. Maybe you agree that the Zelda series is just overall perfect. |

2-D is way better, it didn't give the option of a camera view showing you exactly what to do. |

I personally despise the 2D Zeldas, never could get into them. But I still haven't played the SNES one, so I can't say it's a definitive law yet. |

I generally prefer 2D games over 3D. For example, you have stated Mario already, and I prefer the first three pokemons to DP and (XD) AND Collosseum, but Pokemon Stadium 2 was good, as was Pokemon Snap in my honest opinion. The 3D Zelda are okay, I never got into MM, but that's probably because i dont like it when I'm not playing a game on its original system. I have say that I didn't like TP that much. The only thing i thought that was awesome about it, honestly, was that you could turn into a wolf. That was AWESOME. They need to reinclude that in a different game, but I saw TP as not having much to it. Was there even a trading sequence? I can't remember, I beat it December of 06 and haven't touched it since. The 2D Zeldas are awesome. I bought Zeldas 1 and 2 for $30 off ebay, and AoL came with its original packaging, which was pretty sweet. Im stuck in the 6th temple on LoZ though, damn wizzrobes keep killing me! |

IMO the whole wolf transformation thing is by far the worst thing in TP. |

I agree. What happened to the "normal" Zeldas... =( It seems Nintendo does that with all their games. For example, The last two Marios, Sunshine and Galaxy are so gimmicky they lost the charm of SM64. I realize that one must continuously revamp a franchise but seriously, Astronaut Mario? This is true also in WW and TP... They are both way too gimmicky! |

TP lacked rewarding side quests. The magic armor is useless if you know how to dodge and the reward for getting all the poe souls is useless, after getting the magic armor you don't need money for anything but using it for said armor anyway. There's no point to being invulnerable if you still get knocked back and can't counter attack, I'd rather dodge and do some damage instead. Also, the only way you're gonna pay that bridge is by doing the insect quest, which is at least a bit useful I suppose. Even after 40 hours of play time, you still get the dumb "YOU FOUND A BLUE RUPEE, IT'S WORTH 5" message every time you load your game. Thanks for insulting my memory. TP definitely had some good points (getting new sword techniques, being able to fight and use other items than the bow while riding the horse, etc.) but it lacked in a lot of departments, too. |

TP was a step in the right direction..but the 3d Zeldas can still grow. The 3d games are usually not as hard as 2d either, which pisses me off because my Gamecube games are too easy! >_< So 2D games are better :Smile Tongue: |

I completely agree, the side quests were definitely lackluster. There wasn't a Biggoron Sword/Kafei massive type quest, which I always enjoy. The rupee thing was annoying too, I don't know why they did that... But, at the same time, the game's story mode was the most epic and enthralling experience in Zelda yet. It felt darker and grittier, there was more action, the puzzles were bigger and harder, and the bosses were inventive, for the most part. Are those minor gripes really worth throwing out the baby with the bathwater? |

TP is by no mean a bad game, I just would've liked it to have more sidequests. Or at least useful ones. |

So uh I rented Tp last week and played like.. 2 hours. I got really bored. I rented it before, got to kakariko, and stopped there. Then I got to the goron mines. I think this game is freaking boring. The only 3D zelda I liked was OoT. I prefer 2D ones. |

Wut. The new Mario games are awesome just as they used to be. "The developers thought about putting love in blah blah" Yeah, I think the creators put as much love into the new Zelda games as they put into newer Mario games, too. I'd say SMG was good. Maybe better than WW.
QFT, yo. Actually, TP just full-out lacked side-quests. More plz. I agree with everything else FM said, also.
This brings to mind your review of SMG. Anyway. I can't say WW (obviously, everyone gripes about WW) or TP are that great. My problem with TP was that the dungeons took about five minutes. Look at the Temple of Time dungeon, for example. It's 100% straight-foreward. The only reason it has like ten levels to the map is because half of the levels are just a ton of steps. They didn't spend nearly enough time on the dungeons. They're extremely short. Even if I go back and play OOT/MM/etc, and I know the dungeons completely, they still take a while. TP doesn't. Shortest dungeons I've ever seen in a Zelda game, really. |

Well, I like both 2D and 3D. I grew up with 2D Zeldas and 3D expanded the mechanics of the series and made dungeons and boss fights more interesting. The overworld isn't much different than it was in 2D games though. |

Moar dungeons with harder puzzles. Bring the OoT water temple to all the dungeons! That, a good story and good controls are all I ask for in a Zelda game.

Not everyone has gripes with WW, I think it was great and I've been playing Zelda since the very first game.
