POTW Winner 10/15-10/21 - Darth Makar Darth Makar Okay, I think that this is quite the possibilities. Let's think about it now. People like sexual pleasure. They can get it now from people, toys, whatever. So what's a robot? A giant toy? And it's a humanoid giant toy at that. It may seem wrong right now, but the guy who wrote the article is right. All you need is someone famous and well-liked to get the ball rolling. People may be taken aback at first, but after awhile it will be the cool "bad" thing to do. People will buy these robots secretly, and then it will gain a little more popularity, maybe a famous celebrity will be seen carting one of them home from the store, and soon everyone will be craving one. They will increase in popularity in a matter of years, maybe even less than that. I'm not saying that it's right--heck, I say far from it. But look at where we are now: marriage used to be one man and one woman, whether you agree with it or not, that's how it is traditionally. (I know other places have different customs, but bear with me here.) Then it started expanding. Homosexual marriage, a bit more liberal. Now a lady in some other country married a dolphin. Animals? Yes, they're next. What's after animals? Robots. As humans, we need to conquer territory. We expanded all over the globe, wiped out peoples, mixed customs, and created what we are today, for better or worse. Now there is no where left to go, save for outer space, and we won't be getting tickets to go out there anytime soon. So now the human race turns inward upon itself and starts trying to figure out ways to 'expand.' We've thus gotten more lax with our laws and morality.
