Okay, the game is simple. Someone posts lyrics, and their thoughts on what the song means (either literally or what it means to them). Someone else then posts what they think the song means to them, their own lyrics, and their own interpretations. As a rule, the thoughts can't be stuff like "that song sucks", but has to be about what the words say.

Hooray For Me by Bad Religion
Quote:

I can see my teenage father standing straight on a desolate corner,
in the shadow of tentacled towers by the red light of America,
I imagine how his mother felt when she heard that her husband was dying,
and that underground heroes of the tarmac shooting smack were blowing up worlds
and damned out loud,
hey, can you tell me how does it feel?

Yeah, tell me, can you imagine, for a second,
doing anything that you don't have to?
well that's what I'm accustomed to so hooray for me and *censored* you.

When I slept with stony faces on the riverbank,
my angel-devil-reveller shook me desperately in dying,
I don't exactly want to apologize for anything, and now
we're all mad and tangled in secret rooms with roman candles,
on an endless graveyard train

Yeah, tell me, can you imagine, for a second, doing
anything just 'cuz you want to?
well, that's just what I do so hooray for me and *censored* you.

Yeah, I was dreaming through the "howzlife", yawning,
car black, when she told me "mad and meaningless as ever..",
and a song came on my radio like a cemetery rhyme,
for a million crying corpses in their tragedy of respectable existence

Tell me, can you imagine for a second
trying half the things you ever wanted to?
Well that's just what I do, so hooray for me

oh, yeah, I'm not respectable, and never sensible,
I've been incredible so damned irascible
and I like the things I do so hooray for me and *censored* you.

The song is one that sounds really really arrogant, however it's really not. The opening is about Brett Guerwitz's dad, and trying to imagine how he felt as a teenager when he learned his father died and he'd have to take his place for the family. It serves to contrast what his father was like to what he'd be like. While his father stood tall during his hard times, Mr. Brett would become one of those that were damned out loud. He would turn to drugs early in life to deal with his life, becoming a heroine addict. Even though he kicked the habit, he doesn't regret his past. He's not sorry for his drug use. He knows that it's part of who he is, and made him who he is and helped give him the views he has. Finally the part about him in the car is about how he came to hear punk rock and decided that he would try to make it as a musician. The chorus is about how he got himself where he is today. He has the freedom he has because he worked for it, and he's proud of that. The *censored* you is aimed at anyone who doubted him and said to him he wouldn't make it so he should aim for something else.
