Review time!

How I ended up getting this game: My sister was watching video game trailers on a random website. Apparently, she likes Naruto and saw that the trailer for this game. The only fighting game I had on Gamecube was Soul Calibur 2, I felt like playing something different, my sister wanted to try it and it was only 20 bucks. Do I regret it, not really.

Pros:
-A good quantity of playable characters (about as much as SSBM)
-4 players mode
-You get all the ass kicking you didn't get in the manga/anime.

Cons:
-Some characters seem to be there only so there's more people to choose from.
-Boring music
-Average graphics
-Average voice acting
-Repetitive
-Weird Guard system

The game isn't THAT bad, but it's nothing special, unless you're a hardcore Naruto fan.

About the controls:

B is used for physical attacks and combos
A is used for ninja moves. (Attacks that require Chakra [mana], throwing shurikens and kunais, teleporting behind opponents, etc)
X is used for special attacks
When you are not moving or pressing any button, you're guarding

Strong moves are way, way too easy to perform. Pressing B multiple times can reduce your opponent's health by 1/3. The controls are very simple for a fighting game, and the guard system is just O_O. I mean, it's a fighting game. How often are you just standing there, waiting for the others to hit you? I'd rather go and beat the shit out of them instead. Besides, you take some damage even if you're guarding, so what's the point. Special moves can only be used when your Chakra meter is full, and half the time it is, since it increases every time you hit or get hit. After pressing X, your character will try to land a hit on the opponent (usually a punch or kick). If it works, then you start a special attack, and your opponent proceeds to get his ass kicked and can't do anything about it. If it doesn't work, then you just wasted your Chakra.

About the characters:

Well, there's a lot of them, but some really are not needed. For example, there's this dude named Kiba who fights side by side with his dog. You can select the dog as a separate character, but it has only 2 attacks which it can do while with Kiba anyway, so what's the point. Then you have Emo Kid, and Emo Kid with Sharingan (special eyes that can predict your opponent's special move and counter it). I mean, it's the same character with a couple more attacks. What the hell. You also have a dude with a puppet, and the puppet alone, Naruto and Kyubi Naruto, Kakashi and Kakashi with Sharingan, and two dudes who have the same move sets. Instead of adding those, why didn't they add other characters from the anime/manga? It's not like they're running out of characters or anything.

About the audio:

The characters have their anime voices, which is good. I keep hearing people complaining about the english dubs, but you don't know what bad means until you've heard the French Dubs, believe it. The voices get tiring. Not because they're bad, but because they are repetitive as hell. Everytime you do a special attack, your character says the same thing. They also say the same thing over and over for some normal moves too. You totally forget the music is there while fighting, because it sucks. It's the kind of background music you'd hear in a peaceful, ancient asian village. Not a motivating music at all. At least Naruto doesn't spam "believe it!" too much.

About the graphics:

Nothing too special. Cel Shading isn't that bad here, but I've seen better.

You end up totally forgetting the backgrounds, because the only thing it changes is how big the fighting space is. You could be fighting on a rooftop or in a pond, and it doesn't change anything. You also end up getting tired of the special moves' animations, since they're always the same and you can't skip them. They also stop the fight for its entire duration. In other words, it's like a cutscene that you keep seeing and can't skip.

Naruto Clash of Ninja 2 is a very average fighting game. Its saving grace though, is the 4 players fights. Especially if you can get 3 friends to play that game with you. You also get to beat the crap out of a emo kid. Good stuff. I'm giving this game a
