Okay. That's one weird game alright. I don't even know if I like it or not. First of all, here's the review that made me want to buy it. http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/necrone...eviews;continue Read it. It's pretty funny. So. I have to agree that, the voice acting sucks, the graphics aren't pretty good for the wii ( Early gamecube graphics ), and the throwing controls are lame. Yeah but that dooesn't make a game bad. Story : 5/10 You have Ray, an efeminate college student who has a crush on an insect freak girl called Michelle, who went on an island infested of bugs to tell her that he likes her. Then you have Mike, the guy that points his shotgun everywhere and that loves Michelle too and tells her before Ray does. They go on a walk and you must go find them because they didn't get back. Then there's a lot of stuff happening, you meet people ( YAY ROBERT LAWL ) and bah... there's a twist near the middle of the game that I won't tell you because you have to play the game, it's good and laughable at times. The story is okay, at least you know why there're giant bugs and all. They're not here for no reason. Gameplay : 7/10 Yeah the gameplay is pretty good. To hit the enemy, you press B and then swing the wii remote downward to hit and you can perform up to 3 combos. Shooting is okay too, you press A, to go into first person mode, and then B to shoot. The worse thing is the throwing, you have to press A to go in first person mode, aim, press B to lock the aim thingy, and swing. It kinda sucks. There's a bridge minigame that's pretty fun, you go on little bridges or logs or whatever and you have to tilt the wii remote left of right and match what's on the screen. So overall, the gameplay isn't really frustrating. Oh. I almost forgot, the DODGING SYSTEM OF DOOOOOOOOOOM. Yeah. This sucks hard. It's useless, and everytime you dodge it's usually by mistake. To dodge left, swing the nunchuk, to dodge right, swing the wii remote. The problem is that when you're too fast and want to attack an enemy and press B and swing at the same time, BANG YOU FREAKING DODGE, and that's really annoying. Graphics : 4/10 Well... The graphics are like early gamecube games, it's not pretty nice for a next-gen console, but it's not like I really care about them. The enemies aren't creepy either, except maybe the lizard woman and canine men, they look a bit creepy. Sound : 8/10 The music is just awesome. I love the piano song in the options and the ingame menu. I just LOVE the music. The sounds effects are nice too. The sounds are a bit creepy, especially the Canine men's breath. It's uh.. yeah creepy. Overall, the game is an average survival horror, I've played worse and I've played better. You're mostly overpowered in the game, you kill the enemies in 2-3 blows if you do the finishing move. You won't really use the throwing items, except where you need them, and the guns are pretty useless in my opinion. You hardly get hit too, I finished the game with over 40 healing items. So on this, I give this game a nice 6/10, it's worth playing if you like survival horror. |
