What are some of the things that you think Nintendo should do to keep Zelda feeling (new.) I will be the first to say, Twilight princess was good, but it disappointed me quite a bit. The article below is basically saying that Zelda needs some major changes to keep it from feeling rehashed. Source I am a huge Zelda fan, but even "I" felt a little ripped off after completing it. I just wasn't left with that good feeling that i usually get after finishing a Zelda game. So the question I pose to you is: What do you think Nintendo should do to future Zelda games to keep you coming back for more? Personally, I think they should get more in depth with the story. Nintendo has never been good with story telling, but I think Zelda has always had a great mythological feel to it's story. And one way that they can advance the story of the game is to actually include VOICE ACTING! And I really wish that they would connect the games together as far as story goes. They did a great job doing it with Wind Waker, so why did they change it up with Twilight Princess? I think Wind Waker wouldn't have been nearly as good if it wasn't for the story. The sailing around part really sucked for me. If Wind Waker had a story like Twilight Princess, it would have probably failed. The best part of Twilight Princess was the new weapons. I thought it was a great idea adding two hookshots. I loved going from Link to Spider-Man in the Sky Fortress. And the spinning top thing (I forget the name) was a really fun addition. If Nintendo did more of these things, it would help Zelda's fanbase grow. Most of the people who bought Twilight princess were fans from the previous games. Zelda needs to gain more fans. All ideas in bold and italics are my own beliefs and are not proven facts. |

Are you left with any good feelings after completing certain games? Like, maybe it's not Zelda, but all video games? Just a possibility (especially for older gamers). |

After I play a game with a good story, I am left with a good feeling. Just like I would get from watching a good movie. All Zelda games have given me that feeling except for TP, and I really wish it did. |

Agreed. It needs a deeper story. It's got an okay story, but it's never really in-depth or anything. If we go too deep it'll go all RPG-ish, though.
I don't think it's a good idea. Zelda has good graphics now, but if you include voice acting... That's a heck of a lot more to do. The games that have voice-acting either use cutscenes that are done in anime, or else it's a nice cutscene with enhanced graphics. Still, they have problems. Look at Final Fantasy. It's got some of the best graphics in gaming, and also have done voice acting - even they have problems with making the character have a voice. Otherwise,, there's that crap like Spyro (which is a fun game) and such like that, but the voice acting definitely doesn't usually match up very well. I don't think they're totally capable of doing the voice acting thing that well. They could, but: 1. The animation problem. Like I said, other companies that are more experienced with it have problems themselves. I don't think they're going to be better at that. 2. It would totally change the series... Kinda seems awkward in a Zelda game.
They are connecting them together. Look at the places in TP, for one. It's not so extreme, but I think later games are really going to connect the games more. TP did a little bit, but it could've done more. Meh. I've got to agree with this though.
Yeah, they were pretty cool. One problem: You get it, you beat the temple, and the only time you use it again is to find a heart piece. HOORAY. So the next games need to get a pattern going of find an item, KEEP USING THE ITEM. TP failed that badly.
Yeah, Zelda does need more fans. But personally I think the older fans are a bit more important than the newer fans. You want to please the original fans before the new ones. New ones move on easier, too. The old fans are more hardcore. Sorry for the heirarchy, but... Old fans > new. |

Thing is, two weeks ago, someone had to explain to Makar what this even meant. Eh. Back on topic, I don't think all these changes are going to be a good idea... Some maybe, sure. But I'm afraid they're going to end up alienating all the serious fans. |

Don't really reply to this..But. I absolutely hated Twilight Princess, except for the battles and items. I agree with the article, people usually don't like change. Well, when the series has been going on the same for a while, you don't want it to change. Same for me. Too bad it did. The Twilight ruined this for me. |

I think the article's right. Look at all the talk/stuff on OoT. After a couple of months, nobody is talking about TP anymore. It wasn't a bad game, but it didn't have much impact at all for its time. |

Exactly. People still talk about OoT to this day. But I personally welcome change. I don't want to play the same Zelda game over and over. If Nintendo wants to stick to a formula, do it with Mario. I still long for a Mario game like SMB3. New Super Mario Bros. sucked IMHO. I do think voice acting would be a good thing for Zelda though. So many people are afraid for Link to have a voice. But if they actually give him a cool voice and not some ghey CDI voice. "I can't wait to bomb some Dodongos! LAWLz" or the voice like in the cartoon. "Well excuuuuuuuuse me Princess but I'm a faggot." then I will be happy. |

You've got a point but it's kind of risky. I don't know if it's a great idea. Perhaps, but eh... I don't know. Zelda just doesn't seem like a voice-acting-style game in the first place. It just seems out of place. |

I honestly think that this day in age, Zelda needs voice acting badly. I know it may seem like a major change. But if they did start using it, it would feel natural. I remember everyone complaining about Wind Waker's cel-shading. (I was one of them.) But after playing the game, it was somewhat of a breath of fresh air. Although I think that voices would fit more into a Zelda game than cel-shding. BTW, if Nintendo wants to cel-shade a game, I think Mario would be the perfect choice. |

I gotta agree with Joe on this one. I think making big changes to the series like changing graphic styles or adding voices may actually be good (if done right) It's a nice experiment, and it lets you see if gamers like the changes. It's not like adding voices to ONE Zelda game is going to kill the series. |

Yeah, they could experiment. I just doubt it'll turn out well. It feels like Zelda is going to start alienating the more serious/hardcore older fans for the new ones. Meh... Sorries, but I honestly believe that the older serious fans are a bit more important to a series than new fans. New fans can become old fans, but... Eh. There's a big difference between playing 3 Zelda games and all of them. |
