Eat Cheese or Die Trying

So a few weeks ago I was talking with my older sister and she made a comment about a song being bleeped out. And I'm like, "Whaaaaa? Since when?" Not the most intelligent reaction on my part, I admit, but they did a pretty good job covering it up that they covered up the word "god" in "god damned." I also noticed that on the song "Hate Me" by Blue October that they erase the f-word . . . but you still know what he's saying because you can hear the "f." (Which makes me wonder why you can't hear any of the word "god" but you can hear part of the f-word. It's a mystery, I guess.) What do you guys think about music on the radio being censored? Please be nice and courteous to each other, and take any fights outside. :D I personally think that the f-word should be edited because let's face it: it's not a nice word. I don't know about the word "God," though. Who wanted that one deleted? People who are anti-God or people who are pro-God? So here's little ol' Makar sitting around, listening to the radio, and not realizing that they were bleeping out some words. (I use the turn "bleeping out," but "deleting" would be better. The background music continues; the singing is just not there.) They erase "god" from "god damn" (and both "god" and "damn" when I was at a store. Yeah, that was funny. "This ain't a scene; it's a ____ ____ arms race!"). They also erase "whore" from Panic! at the Disco's song. And of course the f-word any time it appears. |

Censoring something b/c it's religious is stupid but I can understand curse words since I'd rather not hear a 10yr old curse more than me (and yes I've encountered this before). |

I know I haven't been the best. I know what I've done. Please let me vindicate myself. I've been dying on the inside, never showing on the outside. I've been crying for so long and never tears can produce because they've all been spent upon you. Every moment fades and it transitions into thoughts of you. Life, death; both are synonyms without you. This unbearable pain, I now understand-please let me mend those pieces of the heart I've shattered with all I can and show you who I really am . . . -I love you and I always have. %mh%10%mh% | |

Censoring music on the radio is uncalled for. It's kind of obvious that you should give the kid/child/mama's-boy a different station. |

Depends if it's excessive swearing or the such. If it's the odd unnoticable f-word no one will notice, if it's clear obviously censor it before the 9pm watershed As for God....WTF? O.o |

I hate it when radio stations censor songs. Grr.... Solution: Go buy Sirius radio. Their stations don't censor anything. |

Censoring music on the radio is good. The reason it is censored is because any 5 year old can turn the dial and start hearing people swear. If you want music with the proper lyrics in, goto youtube, buy satallite radio, or download it yourself. Don't complain about it. =P And they bleep God because they don't want to start controversy at all which, in turn, has caused a ton of controversy. |

The people who wanted "God" taken out are religious people who dislike it being used in vain, NOT non-religious people. Non-religious people don't care if someone says "God d-word." I don't understand why they took out god but not the d-word, though. But no. God was most DEFINITELY taken out because of the religious people. Definitely. |

actually, thats not why. its the same thing with ass and *censored* (which isnt allowed). the media has a list of words its not allowed to air or make audible. damn is acceptable, however they find god damn to be harsher and more offensive, so they put it on the non acceptable list, along with the s and f words. so to make things easier for themselves they just block god, so that all thats audible is damn, which is acceptable. anyway, IRT the topic: i think radio censoring is pointless and idiotic. Any child that shouldnt hear those words should be monitored by the parents anyway. Anyone that doesnt have to be monitored by the parents, is going to hear the words anyway, so its not like you are protecting them from it. all censoring does is annoy people who like the music, and it makes the music sound retarded. |

like meh. iha te when they censor. 3nigma is right, kids should be monitored, heck i didn't get a radio in my room until i was 8 or 9, and all i wanted to lsten to anyways was classical O_O yes, i was obsessed with classical for a good 5 years, then i discovered the 80s and MJ, which, thanks to MJ, let me expand into 70s, 90s, and later contemporary pop |

They allow damn and piss, why? What makes them so special!? Oh and how about Rihana's Unfaithful song: "take a gun and put it to his head, get it over with..." but no it's: "take a ___ ___ ___ __ __ ___ head, get it over with..." What is some kid going to say, well, if Rihana said it, then it should be! WTF? |

Well, I suppose that makes sense too. Still. There are some people (I know some) who get upset at hearing "god" in a song unless it's a religious song. As in they don't like hearing the name "in vain." |

A lot of people like rock music and all, and it gets annoying for some people when, OMG, THEY CUSSED, LAWL. And yeah, I think it's kind of annoying. If the song isn't intended to be funny, then I don't want to hear cussing. Funny songs with cussing, I don't mind so much. That's a bit different. Otherwise... Why? |

I say they should play the original songs, or don't play them at all. If the song has to be censored, then it's clearly not for everyone. Does censoring cuss words in TV shows make them more suited for kids? Hell no. |

He's got a point there. XD When I was younger (and i still do this) I would play a "guess what word they bleeped out" game when I watched talk shows. And yeah. If it has to be censored, just don't play it. Or at least put alternate lyrics in the song. They do that with some songs. |

So basically, we should do away with the swear filter here as well? Seeing as people under 13 should not be here anyway? I mean, music is a type of media, as is TV, and forums as well. |

Wait... What? Where'd you get that idea? A song can't change anything by bleeping things out, unless they actually change the lyrics. In a forum, people don't have to cuss in the first place. We could always just change the word to say "stupid" or something. Oy. Forum and song = different. |

They are both forms of media however. So, if you believe that uncensored music should be released on public radio, you should not care is uncensored words appear on a public forum. Right Naoko? And they don't need to cuss in songs anyway. =P |
