I don't know how many of you have tried the 3 heart challenge in OOT, but i am, and i've also decided to try this: Get through the whole game without the blue tunic. It's not that big of a deal until the water temple. and, with only 3 hearts, you have a mere 24 seconds between breaths of air. It's pretty darn exciting. :D If anyone cares to try, here're some tips i've discovered to increase your underwater time: 1) if you wait until just after the 18 second mark, you can remove the iron boots and the timer with disappear for about 5 seconds. then it starts over at 24. HUZZAH! you've just gained 5 seconds. It doesn't work if you wait past the 18 second mark. 2) if you dive (with the A button) down to an underwater hallway where a ceiling keeps you from floating back up to the top, you can swim pretty far before the timer actually starts. 3) on the hidden room in the center of the level under the floating platform, which is probably the hardest part to get through with only 24 seconds, set the water to mid-level, then you can jump off the immobile platform closest to the water towards the floating one, but just short enough that Link doesn't grab the edge of it, you splash into the water. Just before you begin to rise back up, equip the iron boots. you can then sink down to the lower hallway. just as the timer reaches 18 seconds, remove the boots and swim along the hallway until the timer starts again. Quickly equip the hookshot and shoot the crystal-switch, releasing several enemies. back up so the spines will retract. shoot them from a distance. then go kill the other 2 clam things, MAKE SURE YOU KILL THEM ON YOUR FIRST SHOT, or you will run out of time. if you do it fast enough, the other grating will open. You'll probably die then, (i only had 1 second left) but when you resume the game, the gate will still be open, and then easily accesible without drowning. get the key and go back out. Im not sure if the gate will still be open if you can save the game and exit just before you die, but if you want no deaths, you can try. :D Have fun. |

You may not equip another one. You may not obtain a Hylian Shield as a child, but you may obtain a Hylian Shield as an adult. You may only use a Hylian Shield in the Graveyard. Aside from that, while you have a shield equipped, use it as little as possible and destroy it quickly. After completing the Spirit Temple, equip a Hylian Shield and let a Like Like eat it so you can continue without a shield. The optimal locations to destroy your shield are included in the route, below. ******************************************************************************* UBER CHALLENGE ROUTE ******************************************************************************* When originally posted on GameFAQs, the Uber Challenge included a route through the game. This route has been fine-tuned to involve minimal backtracking. Child -Deku Tree -Fairy Ocarina -Golden Scale -Ruto's Letter -Jabu Jabu -Zora's River (Magic Bean) -Zelda's Lullaby -Spirit Temple (burn shield ASAP) -Dodongo's Cavern -Magic Meter -Adult's Wallet -Graveyard (plant Magic Bean) -Ocarina of Time -Din's Fire -Temple of Time Adult -Goron City (Goron Tunic, Giant's Knife; break immediately) -Graveyard (Hookshot, Hylian Shield) -Shadow Temple (feed shield to Like Like ASAP, kill Like Like and retrieve shield) -Fire Temple -Minuet of Forest -Forest Temple -Water Temple -Spirit Temple (complete, reenter and feed shield to Like Like) -Temple of Time -Ganon's Castle Enjoy ^^ |

No, I'm working on it tho, i get stuck trying to get to the Spirit Temple as young link, you have to do the Cucco Jump Trick which is like the hardest glitch to do next to shadow temple early. The Urber Challenge uses alot of Glitchs that even i can't pull off. |

There's a glitch to where you don't need the bracelet I think. Either way-why would you go through all of this? X.x; :

I know I haven't been the best. I know what I've done. Please let me vindicate myself. I've been dying on the inside, never showing on the outside. I've been crying for so long and never tears can produce because they've all been spent upon you. Every moment fades and it transitions into thoughts of you. Life, death; both are synonyms without you. This unbearable pain, I now understand-please let me mend those pieces of the heart I've shattered with all I can and show you who I really am . . . -I love you and I always have. %mh%10%mh%

I've come up with plenty of challenges throughout the years, some of them are easy, some just plain hard and unaccomplishable(by me, anyways). I've done the three heart challenge once on OoT, was hard, but I got through. I've tried in MM and never succeeded, hehe, never tried in TWW or TP. That uber challenge is like...wow...I could never accomplish that =P |

about 8 people have done it, those 8 people subitted a video to SDA or Youtube. many other people have said they did it but, i don't believe them without video proof.
Test of Skills, fun, new way to play though a game again, challenge
Since you do the spirit temple as a child before Dondongo's Cave in the Uber Challenge, you get the Sliver Gaulets in your Inventory, the game thinks you must have already collected the Goron Bracelet before hand, and allows you to pick up bomb flowers.
I did a typo so shush. |

You kept on doing it multiple times, which means you probably didn't know the real spelling. If it had only been a typo I wouldn't have said anything. Sorry. Note that people DO make fake videos of these kinds of things. You can't really fake glitches, but people do piece together videos, like in speedruns, to make it SEEM like they did it quickly/etc. when they didn't. For example, when you have a certain glitch you have to do on a speedrun, CHANCES ARE you will mess up once or twice. Sometimes people cut the mistakes they make from the video so it looks like they got the glitch right the first time every time. I've known of people doing that... But generally, yeah, it is pretty cool. And not everyone does that, fortunately. |

Thats why in Speedrunning, you do Segments of the same part of the gameplay many times, for example, if you had to preform a really hard glitch in a speedrun, and you screwed it up, you'd keep redoing it untill you get it right, then record how fast it took you, fastest segment gets put into the speedrun, its bascally a way to get a faster time, and save space with the final video, instead of uploading it as one huge video, upload it as segments. |

Yeah, sure. Some people do that. But I would much more appreciate a serious speedrun where they don't edit out mistakes like that. Like if they have to redo something... Okay, they have to redo something. It's almost cheating a lot of people who think "OMG LOL YOU DID THAT ALL AT ONCE FOR REEEAAAL?!" Which is awesome when they actually do. But I would much rather watch an honest video of a speedrun that has a couple extra minutes because they messed up on a glitch. |

I watched a speedrun of Mario 64 and also a speedrun of a handheld Zelda game. I think it was Link's Awakening, but I can't remember. I didn't totally watch them all the way through. For the Zelda one, I had it running for quite a while. An hour and a half? Two hours? I don't remember, but I watched it while doing other things. As for the Mario one, I watched about half of it while working on other things. I was really impressed... Until I found out that the Mario one had actually been pieced together. Okay, picture it this way. You're trying to get through FF9 in 12 hours. (Which you do to get the best weapon, blah blah.) Do you actually do it in 12 hours? NO. You go to a shop, pick out what you want to buy, reset the game, go back, buy everything in like three seconds. You fight a boss, decide it took too long, reset the game, etc. (Well, I don't think someone would do a speedrun of a game like this, it's just a totally different type of game. I just mean you didn't ACTUALLY do it in 12 hours.) It's cool and all, and speedruns/12 hours/whatever take a lot of planning and etc., but like... think about it. "WHOO I HAS A SPEEDRUN OF 2 HOURS ON MARIO." Did you REALLY do it in 2 hours, or did you cut out the parts you messed up? (or restarted, etc?) It's all still pretty cool, but it's not the same. That's all I'm saying, with a ton of explanation, whoo hoo. XD |
