The Forest - for the PC

The Forest is a game made by VT's very own Panther III.  Although the music can get annoying at times, the game is very simple.  Battle monsters while completing quests and minigames but also gathering different weapons and armor.  The point of the game according to Panther is to return cookie back from ryko, the game's villain.  His title is unkown at this time.

Gameplay: The game is around medium difficulty, but the controls are simple.  Arrow Keys move. the character, Enter is the action key.  I have not found out what the pause key is yet.  In battle you use weapons and armor to kill enemy monsters like skeletons.  At times the battles can be difficult, but if you use strategy you can win! 9/10

Sound: This area is a little uneven. The background music is in MIDI format.  The sound effects are in WAV files. The music is very repetitive though and at times you want to throw your speakers out the window. 5/10

Graphics: This game uses sprites. Not well animated, but it gives you enough for you to get a sence of what's going on.  Graphics are great pixel-wise in battles.  Better than the SNES and all consoles that pre-date it. 8/10

Story: Panther is making up the story as he goes.  What he has so far is that basically the main guy loses his best friend and finds out more and more about the life he thought he knew. 6/10

Replayability: This is a high area. There are a few reasons why you would replay this. You might want to restart the game and not cheat by running in and out of a building just to get more weapons, armor, and potions. You could even play through to challenge yourself by not picking up any armor or extra lives or etc. You may also want to replay and find the names of the VT  posters too. 9/10

I gave this game an 7.4 because it’s not exactly the BEST game, but it's enough to keep you occupied for a while. The music could use a little more uniqueness though and the replayability could be improved upon.
