I'm entering my 3rd day of summer, and I'm feeling well. All that school made it very difficult to pull all-nighters. Used to do them without a problem last summer, even before I became adapted to sleeping during daytime. Anyway, that's not what I'm mainly gonna talk about here. Right now, I'm listening to techno I haven't bothered listening to since... the end of 6th grade. Three years ago, basically, I haven't listened to some of these techno songs on my current playlist. That's some serious nostalgia. Some I listened to during the evacuation of Hurricane Katrina almost four years ago, when I just became a 6th grader. Like, right now, I'm listening to a techno mix of "Take On Me" by A-Ha. Here's the song from a video I made way during those times: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4306493122230996644&ei=cSweSuXsIJrg-gGOoNUc Video was posted up June 30th, 2006, during my beginning times of video-making. Also features the now-dead Half-Life 2 Deathmatch community Yaypit. Damn. I've known that community since spring of 2004, and it died sometime in November 2006. Sometimes when you compare the past to your current day, it seems like time traveled fast. Other times, like right now, the past three years felt like ten, but it's only been three years... It's crazy how your perception on time goes here and there, from time feeling slow to extremely fast. Only three years... I still can't get over that. And school... I feel like I've been there for decades, but I'm only going into 10th grade at the moment. I've only been alive for 15.5 years, but I feel like I've lived a lifetime. Hey, check it out. I'm now listening to "I Leave The World Today" by Baracuda. Just another example of a very old mix I haven't listened to in years. Let's surf through this playlist...And HOLY CRAP NOSTALGIA BOMBBBBBBBB. Ever heard of the techno track Mr. Vain? We'd jam to this at a computer cafe that used to strive with LAN gaming, where I completely rocked in instagib on Unreal Tournament 2004. I was only in 5th grade, 2004. ICE Computer Cafe... You might even see it mentioned in my very old blogs. And if you find the website, you'll notice that it's more for kid business now. Not back then... haha. It was only teenagers and adults, with the exception of me and my brothers. The owner, Scott, was a good pal. Awesome guy. He sold it years back when it started to become more of a kids place, but he still has the franchise. Maybe Scott will open up another one somewhere around my local area and the mature community can strive again. I'd love to relive those years again. Definitely. Everyone has some time or year(s) they would love to relive again if they had the chance. Mine was during the golden times of that internet cafe. You can never know how much fun I had there unless you were me. From where you're looking, it's probably 110% different. I knew everyone there, even the owner and their employees (some which who were relatives). So many lock-ins I went to, so many UT2K4 tournaments I've played and won... Here's a old design of their website from 2005 (found it using archive.org): http://web.archive.org/web/20050404025338/http://www.icecomputercafe.com/ Yeah. Everyone has their flashbacks. It's real personal. Probably why this topic appears boring to you, but to me... it's like retelling the tale of an amazing part of my life. |
