Why am I still here?
|
As Naoko said, I don't think anyone is offended by Merry CHristmas. It reminds me of a customer who complained when i said Happy Holidays and that it was disrespecting Jesus and we shouldn't care what the Muslims (because Muslim bashing is still totally okay) think and complained about how they could find it offensive. I told her the little bit of Islam I know that shuts every up (that they do follow many of the teachings of Jesus, they just don't believe he was the son of god/god) and then she was like "oh." and just walked away. You say Happy Holidays to be inclusive, because Christmas is not what everyone celebrates. For example, I do not celebrate Christmas (and because of this many people at work thought I was a Jehova's Witness, I told them I was an atheistic agnostic and then they got quiet). I am not offended by Merry Christmas, but I feel that saying Happy Holidays is better because there are so many. On the other hand, I'm kinda against wishing Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays a month before the December Holidays (all eighty billion of them) but that is a different battle entirely. I might start wishing people happy MLK day in January, but that would feel awkward. |
