The Super Smash Bros. series (in case you didn't know) is a unorthodox fighting style gaming series in which you attempt to knock your opponent of the side of the stage. It was created by Masahiro Sakurai and started out on the Nintendo 64. In the game, numerous characters, items, and stages make appearances representing their own individual games. The latest game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, will be the game being reviewed.

Story

The story mode of Brawl was hailed by Sakurai as heavily developed and very interesting. While the story itself was intriguing, the gameplay of the story mode is highly repetetive. Every single new area have the same monsters, doing the same moves, on the same obsticles. Although a step up from Melee's Adventure mode, thats all it is. An revamped and longer Adventure mode. Maybe I'm just being critical because it was so highly touted. Maybe I'm being critical because I more or less fell asleep during it. However, the fact of the matter is, Super Smash Bros isn't a story mode type of game.

Story: 6/10

Music

The soundtrack of Brawl is one of the most complete of any game ever created. It has some of the most notable game musicians of all time. There is not much else to say about the subject.

Multiplayer + Gameplay

Just like the music, the multiplayer is impeccable. Although a bit more slower paced than Melee, it has in fact been perfected. The slower pace allows for more precise and skilled hits rather than button mashing. The multitude of stages also plays into effect here. There are upward of 40 stages built into the game, but thats not all. Users can now create their own stages. The character selection has also been increased to 35 with newcomers such as Pit and Olimar. I guess I can through gameplay in here as well, it too has been perfected. Now users can choose between 4 different controllers. AND if they don't like that, they can reconfigure the controllers buttons themselves! It seems a shame to give such an incredible multiplayer a 10 but thats as high as the scale goes.

Multiplayer: 10/10
Gameplay: 10/10
Reviewer's controller choice: GameCube Controller

Replay Value

You will be playing this game for years if not decades. There is so much to do, and so much to unlock. This game is more than just 35 characters, 41 stages, and its 40+ items. The trophies are fun to unlock and stickers are also a blast. If you are a Nintendo fanboy you will enjoy learning every little tidbit of information you get from the trophies.

Replay Value: 10/10

Super Smash Bros. Brawl was a game touted as the best of all time. A game to stand out for many years and remain on the Wii's top selling game list. Is this true? The answer is a whole-hearted yes! Although its story mode is a bit lack-luster, every other facet of the game is perfect, and that is not a biased opinion.

This game will keep you busy until the perfect gets perfected with the inevitable Super Smash Bros. 4.

Final Score*: 10/10

[Gilmer's Spelling is so bad, he] probably thinks the "Holocaust" is a type of holographic pokemon card.

Remember... Capitalization is the difference between "I had to help my uncle Jack off a horse.." and "I had to help my uncle jack off a horse.."
