Yes, I know, somebody already left a review for it, but I think I should leave my own review for it.

Anyway, the first thing that makes this game unique is that it mixes elements from previous Mario games into one. The three games that share the most elements with the new game are: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. The map design is very similar to that of Super Mario Bros. 3, and the level designs are similar to that of Super Mario Bros. AND/OR Super Mario World. (It all depends) Not to mention, the enemies are just medleys of enemies from previous games. Goombas, Koopas, Lakitus, Bullet Bills, you name it.

The graphics are great. Well, it's the DS, of course they're great. But more importantly, the game creators did a fantastic job rendering the true artwork of the characters into 3D for the DS. In my opinion, there was no better part that highlighted the games great graphics more than the skeletal Bowser. (Don't worry, it really isn't much of a spoiler.) I mean, I remember playing the Mario Bros. games for the Game Boy and thinking about how great those cheesy black & white were. Boy, did I not know what was in store for me in the future.

The sound was great as well. I never thought I would see Mario dance and talk on the DS the way I did while playing this game. Not only that, but they gave us a gift and on the first map, they played the same theme song from SMB3. Also, at certain times, when you beat levels, you would here that jingle that plays when you would beat a level in SMB1. Along with fireworks!

The gameplay was pretty good, although I think it could've been better. The game itself was WAY too easy and the only part that is hard was the final battle. I finished the game with 46 lives left. That is way too much. I beat SMW a while ago with 6 lives left. However, the gameplay wasn't jumpy or anything, and it wasn't hard to maneuver, so I'll say "meh".

The plot, to me, was a little too repetitive. Oh look, Baby Bowser is stealing the princess, I must go after her, but in order to do so, I'll have to travel through 8 different worlds, being disappointed in 7 of those worlds, and once I save the Princess I get a kiss. Like, I haven't seen that before. Sometimes I wonder if people steal the Princess just for the hell of it now.

Overall, the game was pretty good. It is a VERY addictive game, and once you start playing, boy, is it hard to put that DS down. I would recommend buying it. You'll enjoy it.
