Mr. Jessie Lee Newman, age 76, of Tallapoosa, GA passed away November 4, 2009. Mr. Newman was born December 24, 1932, in Cleburne Co., AL, to the late Arthur and Jewel Hicks Newman.
His life was his testimony. He served 2 terms in the Korean Conflict, coming home as a United States Army 1st Calvary Sergeant. He loved God, his country, his family and his many friends. If you knew him – you knew what he stood for in all walks of life. He lived everyday to the fullest.

Mr. Newman is survived by his wife of 46 years, Betty Jo Bentley Newman; son and daughter in law, Tony and Robin Newman; granddaughter, Jessica Newman, all of Carrollton; sister and brother, Polly Forrester and Phil Newman, both of Monroe, GA.

Funeral services for Jessie Lee Newman will be held Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 3:00 PM from Bethany Baptist Church with their pastor, Rev. Kevin Ayers, officiating. Music will be provided by Carol and Bill Brown along with their children. Jack Jackson and the deacons of Bethany Church: Willard Henson, Joe Williams, Gus Barkley, Jim Hutson, Charles Johnson and Bud Jones will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Bethany Church Cemetery with full military honors by the Haralson County Veterans Association.

The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Home, Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.

This wonderful man will be missed by so many. He was a true southern gentleman. He always had an uplifting smile that let us know he geniunely cared for us. Rest in peace my friend.
