What am I missing here? The thing is I dont know how an emulator works. I dont know what its for. So could someone fill me in?

An emulator is an illegal software that is used to run to Read-Only Memory (hence, ROM) of a video game. Basically, it is a program for your computer that can play certain video games (depending on the emulator), using a certain type of memory extracted from a game.

And in english that is....? :riight:

It means you can play For example... GBA games on your Computer.

Wow... this world is advancing in so many ways. Really. From The Game and Watch to teh wii... good times... good times.

Unfortunately... Emulators are illegal, because you can obtain the games to play on them for free, which makes nintendo lose money..

Correction. they are not illegal unless they are either
1. Very new (like brawl omg i broke a law)

2. Very old (Like the first mario game omg i broke another law)

games that are in the mid such as Super metroid to fusion to prime are okay

but still, its how you get sprites, i need them
oh dont worry im getting the copy of brawl so i wont break a law

...No, they are still illegal, regardless. Emulators are not illegal, however, and ROMs are only legal on this condition: If YOU uploaded the ROM from your game cartridge as a backup copy of your game. You have to own this game (i.e. It can't be your friends, or a rental). It has NOTHING to do with how old or new the game is.

Source. For the record, whenever you are going to make a certain claim, try to include one of these.
