Kingdom Hearts 2 Overview You are...NOT SORA! Well, not right away, anyway. You begin the game as Roxas, on your summer vacation. You live in Twilight Town, a lovely city that is constantly in dusk (or dawn...hence "twilight"). When strange silver creatures begin ravaging your town and causing trouble for you and your friends, you attempt to attack them. However, normal weapons simply won't work, and you're nearly hurt...when your weapon suddenly becomes a keyblade. With it, you're able to defeat your enemy...but why did the keyblade suddenly appear out of nowhere? Who are these strange people that keep appearing and telling you to do things? And...what is your reality...if any?! Graphics - 9.5/10.0 --- Again, they aren't phenomenal. So very close though. The graphics are a major improvement from the original game, with vast changes to character's looks and detail. The -.5 is for the still cutesy-look and the mushy environments that, while still very nicely detailed, are still very cartoonish. It doesn't harm the game much at all, but the score is nicked just a bit. Sound - 9.0/10.0 --- The music in the game is nearly all original, save for a few classic tunes, including one of my personal favorites "One-Winged Angel" from FFVII, remixed and BEAUTIFULLY remastered for one particular fight that is very similar to the original game. However, believe it or not, the -1.0 point is taken off for the casting of Mena Suvari as Aerith. The women has no emotion in her voice. However, the other voices are VERY good, including Sora, who sounds older and more mature (which is reflected through his amazing new clothes, too). Control - 10.0/10.0 --- YES! Square-Enix made the revisions they needed. The simple hack'n'slash is back, along with the COMPLETELY redone camera (which is now controlled with the right analog stick - somewhat awkward at first maybe but MUCH better than the first game). Movement is simple, the menus are easy to navigate...perfect score. Oh, and did I mention the absolute godliness of DRIVE FORMS? Two Keyblades and an immense boost in physical strength, magical ability, both or even (secretly) 2x both! (Play it - you'll know what I mean) Story - 9.5/10.0 --- The original story is continued with great additions in characters, worlds and depth. The added addition of new worlds and characters pulls the story together as a whole and allows for a few open doors for another game (KH3, being released...eventually). Though some of it seems awkward (Atlantica, once again, I'm lookin at you), characters from the original game recognize Sora and the heartfelt reunions (and amazing battles) are ones to remember. Overall - 9.5/10.0 --- This is my second favorite game of all-time (next to Final Fantasy VII). The story comes together and is simply amazing, the new features (Drive Forms and Reaction Commands, specifically) are amazing - the game simply works. I've played one game so long the clock is maxed out - that's how much fun I've had with this game. Play the first game, and then pick this one up - you won't regret it. |
