Have you considered Swiss-style? If we get enough people, it would be possible to to it Swiss-style for the first round. Say, if we get 12 people, we play four Swiss-style games, and then four people are out. Then it's single-elimination for the last eight. |

Hey Savato that sounds like a really good idea, but trust me this SSBB tournament will have more then 12 participants. It will have more like 30 to 40 participants, if this board a lone doesn't have enough smashers I'm going to combined it with the TDC forums and YAF forums, who are also hosting SSBB tourneys. There will be one big tournament for all three forums. We won't do that if there are enough participants in each individual board. There will most likely be a prize for the top three players. |

Of course it will have more than twelve people. It can be Swiss for any amount of people. Generally, the first round of my tournament is always Swiss. But, it's not my tournament this time. |

Ditto. What was wavedashing? I'll be in as well. Won't pre-order mine til Christmas though. Dad sends me a gift card every year at that time. What are the good sites or stores to pre-order at? |

Wavedashing is an advanced technique in SSBM that appears to make your character slide forwards or backwards. In reality, your character is air-dodging forwards or backwards. This is a very effective technique that sets your character up for attacks, grabs, or combos. B. How to do the wavedash? There are two popular methods in performing this technique (please note there is a subtle timing difference for each character): 1. (prefered method) with your joystick, hold down and tilt slightly to the left or right (to go forwards or backwards, respectively), then continue with the following button combination executed in quick successions after another: X ~ R ~ ... ~ *attack, grab, or combo* 2. jump with your character (short jump recommended), then immediately follow with down-left/right + R While there are minor differences in move order and execution, both are essentially a product of your character jumping then air-dodging so close to the ground that it makes your character appear to slide. -quoted from Super Smash Brothers Arena -------------------------------------- Next thing... Good, I'm glad they took out wavedashing, L-Canceling and all that other "Oh Lawl I'm only good at this game because I can take advantange of the games timing with the moves and thats the only way i can beat you" A lot of people in torunaments use this because they can't get skills of their own to play the game the way it was ment to be played. You'll also see many people who use these "Techniques" also seem to hate using items in matches and only play on a few maps...Why do they do this you might ask? Because on these certan maps, they can do their "Techniques" and on other maps such as Brinstar Depths they "Techniques" Become useless. Same thing with items, they can't play with items on because its easy to stop them when they use these "Techniques" so they openly boycott the use of items. Like I said before I'm very happy that they took this stuff out, It almost ruined the game, you can only play on very few stages and all people care about are the "Techniques" you use not your true skill. I think since they took these out that it will make the game more enjoyable for everyone. Thank you Nintendo. |

Heh, I never took the time to learn how to wavedash... so the removal doesn't really have any effect on me. |
