ken closed his eyes for a moment. ken: long ago, when i was a child, i was in the riches family around. i had a mother and a father, an older sister, a younger sister, still a baby, and a brother. i had many friends, i was even the most popular person around for a time. then "it" happened. |

ken: it was my birthday. everyone had gathered, friends, family, relatives of all kinds... it was the greatest day of my life, until one man appeared. he came through the door with a knife. seeing that, i fled to the corner of the room. bad idea, because from there, i could see everything... ken opened his eyes ken: i saw them all die. the man cut, slashed, and stabbed them all to death. friends, family, even pets... they all died. then he came for me. i was stabbed multiple times... and just as i was about to die, the police burst in, and killed the man. |

Ayame got up from his chair, and walked over to Ken. He had a disgusted look on his face. Suddenly, he punched Ken out of his chair, sick and tired of it all. Ayame: "Live with it. What is your point in all of this? Are you trying to pretend that you know what he has gone through. Are you trying to get me to cry over the loss of your parents. Give over yourself, we have all had that fate dealt to us before. The fact is, you haven't even scratched the surface of Voltaire's, none of us have. That boy has experienced death, and you are lucky he had the restraint to keep you alive, because I doubt I would be so courteous." He backs away from Ken, and pulls out his violin. He begins to calm down. Ayame: "Your pain is horrible, we all know. But you haven't been cursed with the never ending pain of death." He begins to play a particular song, a very soothing song, the song he played for Esper before. "This is, was Esper's favorite song, and I was playing it nearby when his parents were killed. He can not even stand the sound of it now." He stops playing, and he looks outside the window. "It seems that we lose a part of ourselves when our loved one's die. But we gain something in return. The memories of how it was before. If we forget those memories.... then we might as well have forgotten ourselves." Ayame turns his head to Ken. Ayame:"I want you to try and accept Volti...Esper, for who he is. He has a heart somewhere. But, I guess he has never been allowed to get close to anyone enough to show it. He tried his best not to kill you, as he hopes that you will try and accept him, unlike the rest..." He hands Esper's journal to Ken. "This will tell you much about his past. Maybe you can find the answer to him in here." |

ken: ... alright. just let me tell you one last thing. i think i know fairly well what he's going through. i may not have died, returned, and had a strange like for killing, but everyone around me does die. friends i made on the street after my birthday? died a few days after our meeting. i started a buisness transporting goods? everyone that hired me ended up dead. i went to war once... i was the only survivor. it's happened so many times that i've gotten the nickname "the messenger of death". i've suffered something worse than death... and at this point, if it weren't for my will to live and fufill my dreams, i'd rather die right now. everyone who becomes my friend, dies. no exception. i can see your an amazing friend of his. he's very lucky to have you... me on the other hand, i can't have friends. if someone's my friend, they die. no exceptions. he may feel the pain of death, he may feel the pain of lonliness... but he's not alone... he has you. me? i'm alone. I've been destined to be that way since that day. There are many things in this world worse than death... how many of them do you think we share? with that, ken walked out of the room. |

ken stepped outside for the moment. he looked to the sky, and started shuffling his cards. ken: mother... father... If you can hear me, i'm still not giving up. i'm going to keep living, until I have fufilled my promises... flashback! during the birthday incident, ken's mother and father were on the ground, near him. ken: mom... dad... mother: ken, my darling... please, live. father: live... fufill your dreams.... and when you do... go there. shortly after, they were both finished off. flashback end. ken: i'm going there one day... and until then i won't die. ken stopped shuffling his cards, put them all in one hand, and raised the other to the sky. ken: i promise... |

Esper: "It is nice that you have a dream." Esper is sitting on top of the small inn, smiling down at Ken. Esper: "Maybe someday, I can have a dream too." His head tilts as he chuckles happily, his demenor back to normal. |

Esper jumps down from the inn, and walks to Miranda's apartment, the sun probably not very far away by now. Esper: "Maybe so..." He continues on his path, his cheerful expression as childish, and yet adult at the same time. |

OoC: ken and esper fight, esper barely wins with a trap left in him from ken, he is "calmed" by a song, and the trap in him dissapears. ken and esper's friend leave him, and talk about his past. most interesting parts... both came from wealthy families, both lost parents. interesting seperate parts. esper was killed, but brought back to life by innocence, and gained a love for killing. anyone that seemed to befriend ken, died. he said no exceptions. ken is outisde, talking to his deceased mother and father (not really, of course) and esper talks to him. ken the goes inside to wake up allen, who was knocked out after the song part. basically, you could act like none of it happened. |
