Well as GAB said the star wars serries is most excellent. Beowulf is a great book, I just wrote an 11 page paper on it. And this Western Civ class is one of the best most useful and enlightening classes I have taken. Now I have to be like the guy from Plato's cave who saw the world and I'll bet only 2 people on this forum will even know what Plato's cave is. I'll say 4 to account for 2 people other than me that have not taken this class.

Ok, I have something that fits ALL of those categories.

Do not listen to anybody else here, this is personally my favourite trilogy of all time. (It's not really non-fic...but like...God is in it so w/e.)

The best trilogy ever is His Dark Materials I, II,&III.
(also known as: The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass)

The very first book is fairly boring for about half the time, but it's a trilogy and once it picks up, it really gets you going. ;)

To be, or not to be: that is the question. To die, to sleep; no more; and by a sleep to say we end. To die, to sleep; To sleep, perchance to dream. Ay, there's the rub. For in that sleep of death what dreams may come when we have shuffled off this mortal coil must give us pause. That makes calamity of so long life, for who would bear the whips and scorns of time when he himself might his quietus make with a bare bodkin? Who would fardels bear, to grunt and sweat under a weary life, but that the dread of something after death, the undiscover'd country from whose bourn no traveller returns, puzzles the will and makes us rather bear those ills we have than fly to others that we know not of? Thus conscience does make cowards of us all...

My Uncle randomly gave me the 2nd book in that series.

And I don't like Harry Potter.

Yeah, listen to Theoretic Fish about His Dark Materials. Also, read anything by Brian Jaques.

I'm reading Brave New World right now and it's pretty sweet. It's the same genre as 1984, but with a different perspective on a future society.

I remember really enjoying Gulliver's Travels and The Invisible Man. They were quick reads too. Blue Like Jazz by Don Miller was awesome too, but it's not something to read just for fun.

I used to read redwall but for the past couple years I just haven't been able to enjoy it. The Castaways of the flying dutchman series is good though. Is the new one out yet?
