Since I have zero desire to buy either FM15 or 16, for various and obvious reasons, I've decided to get back into FM14, which is, aside from FM12, the best iteration of FM so far. And since looking back thru my previous storyline with New England and how glorious that was, I've decided to start a new career storyline here with you all again. ![]() 2013 - ![]() Honors MLS Cup Winners 2010 ![]() US Open Cup Winners This go around I'll be starting with the Colorado Rapids! (btw what is it with Colorado teams and purple? ...) Like my last save, I'm picking Colorado because they need a manager from the beginning of the game in 2013. They've already won an MLS title back in 2010, so it's up to me to bring this side around and give Colorado fans glory again ![]() Edited by Scorekeeper, Jan 17 2016, 11:25 AM.

Ok, I will admit, I am not starting this thread at the beginning of my current save, so forgive me as I catch you up to date (May 2013) I using the vanilla database, USA, Mexico, and English Premier Leagues enabled. Staff Hires: Rick Guter- Physio Earl Cochrane- Scout Ryan Garlick- Scout Diego Gutierrez- Scout Anselmo Ribeiro- Scout Paul Tilbury- Scout Ousmane Dabo- Reserves Coach Formation Currently using a 4-2-3-1 with moderate success. Colorado started with 3 or 4 DMs so I was tempted to go 4-3-2-1. but after using an AMC I feel it's better to press a quick attacking approach in the MLS, rather than sitting back and playing the counter game. We'll see how the rest of the season plays out. Transfers IN Fabio Aurelio - experienced fullback who played formerly for my favorite English side and will help strengthen my back line. Got him on free transfer to boot. James Riley - Fill in right back to back up Marvel Wynne. Decent backup so far this season, but definitely not a starter. Free transfer. Edu - AMC picked up on free transfer. He is a bit older, but he's experienced and knows his game. Mario Martinez - This guys is a steal for us. Bought from Real Espana for the sum of $750 (!!), only 23 and will do well either as an AMC or AMR. Austin Berry - brought him in on free transfer to help round out or back line. Allows Marvel Wynne to play his natural wingback position, instead of RCB. He and Drew Moor are playing well together so far. Marvin Morgan Jr. - Young Jamaican kid who I bought from Waterhouse for $1.8k. Hopefully he can develop to be at least a good backup. Aaron Salvaggione - Young CB signed from my Youth Academy. Looks decent for a youngster. Transfers OUT Danny Mwanga, Kory Kindle - waivers. I had too many strikers for my formation, and Kindle just isn't cut to even be a backup in the MLS IMO. Other than that, Colorado has a pretty solid team going forward so far. Just had to buy some key players on the wings and AMC positions, as well as getting that back line in order. Preseason 2013 Results ![]() Don't ask me why the game scheduled that weird friendly game after we started the season... Anyway, not a bad preseason considering I just got hired and we are learning a tactic that these players are not very familiar with. We dominated the Dallas game 3-0, but they took advantage of my struggling back line to narrow the gap. My starting XI GK - Matt Pickens DR - Marvell Wynne DC - Drew Moor DC - Austin Berry DL - Fabio Aurelio MC - Nick LeBrocca MC - Hendry Thomas AMR - Mario Martinez AMC - Edu AML - Vicente Sanchez STC - Gabriel Thomas |

March 2013![]() Aside from the 1 nil loss to Philly, not a bad start to the campaign, going 2-2-1. We rescued a draw against Portland as well. The 2 nil defeat of LA away was a great result. Really wish we could have beaten our rivals Salt Lake, but oh well. April 2013 ![]() Bad month here, 3 losses including a 1 nil loss to our rivals in the Rockies. 3 nil against ChivasUSA the next week felt good, but Seattle, who is having a poor year despite their talent, kicked our butts easily the following week. Houston got us late with a goal in the 79'. We battled injuries during this month and the team is still trying to gel and get into a groove. But I'm not too worried since it is still early and our March put us in a good position, thus we didn't lose too much in the standings this month. Frustrating how we can't seem to get a win at home yet >:l So I hope that gets you all up to speed. Things are still in the beginning stages so the pace should pick up from here on out. May 2013![]() May had a great start, 3-1 vs Toronto, a team on a roll at the time. Also our first home win of the year so that was a nice bonus as well. Second half of the month? Horrible. We played really well against SJ, the league leaders (wtf FM, they suck bad IRL, what gives?? >:l ), conceding really cheap goals IMO. We rescued a draw against ChivasUSA, barely. Not happy as we should have won that one. Then the Charleston game. What can I say, it's BS that a mickey mouse team like them give us trouble at all. The game was saved in the last gasp moments of regular time by Drew Moor, and thankfully we outlasted them on penalties. That game was a shitshow, we lost two players to injuries after all the subs had been used, so we won 9 v 11. Crazy stuff but really FM, c'mon it's shit like this that makes people rage at you and your shitty match engine (and why you get bad reviews on Steam) /rantover I'm just glad we made it thru to face LA in the quarterfinals. League Table ![]() Still maintain a decent spot top of the conference. SJ is pulling away with a 8 pt lead over Salt Lake. Things look much closer over in the East. |

June 2013![]() Alright! Great month here, picking up 3 wins and a draw in league play, as well as advancing two rounds into the Open Cup. The Dallas game was an easy win, as we were up 3-0 until late in the game. The win against league leaders San Jose was a surprise. We barely edged them as they had myriad opportunities to equalize in that game, but my defense, for once, held firm. Chicago was another easy game, they only made it close near the end of the match. We ran up against a congested fixture schedule this month, so the fatigue was showing at Portland and despite taking an early 1-0 lead we conceded (off another set piece...) and held on to draw. Then the Montreal game....sigh...I don't know this game is just funny sometimes. I am clearly on a undefeated streak in the month, and yet when I go up against a team 8th place in the East, and I lose 3-1? 2 goals from cheap corners? Like did the developers of this game give the corner hack to the AI instead of us this go around? I mean ffs... Anyway instead of beating them easily we were easily beaten, and it kinda put a damper on the final days of the month. Open Cup play I am happy with, we got LA on penalties, and it's always nice to beat them, especially in their home stadium Orlando did prove tricky, but a late goal by Edson Buddle (it's a miracle! He finally scores!) secures us to the next round.League Table ![]() So the league table shows us tied with SJ for first, with Real Salt Lake and Chivas USA nipping at our heels. We'll see how we fare next month when we face Seattle, NY, and LA during a 5 game run in July. Luckily 4 of those games are at home so hopefully that will help our chances. |

Just a quick note- sorry for the delay in posting. GW2 has really eaten up my time with their new XPac (damn you MMOs :shakesfist: ) and now that FM16 is on sale, I'll probably get that so I can play with the current MLS league. |
