Getting tired of waiting for the big FM13 update, so I figured I'd kill some time and do a write-up of my save game. The basics Playable leagues: Argentina Brazil Canada (custom CSL) England (top two) France Germany Italy Mexico Netherlands Portugal Russia Spain Ukraine USA (including custom NASL and USL) Also have about two dozen other top leagues set to view-only (Turkey, Colombia, etc.) Team: Toronto FC Reputation: Automatic (pretty low) |

2012 Record: 14W 12D 8L 54pts, 3rd in Conference 47 GF 33 GA, +14 Eliminated by Houston in the EC semifinal round, 3-2 Winner of the Canadian Championship over Vancouver, 3-2 Finished 2nd in group stage of CCL. Players in: Total spent- $0 Jordan Hamilton (TFC Academy) Tyler Pasher (TFC Academy) Kyle Haworth (TFC Academy) Teal Bunbury (waiver draft) Joey Gjertsen (waived) Philippe Davies (free) Tiago Dutra (free) Cristian Ortiz (free) Carlos Andre (free) Players out (^ indicates draft/international slot): Total money received- $450,000 Logan Emory (waived) Freddy Hall (waived) Andrew Weideman- $300k (Philly) Quincy Amarikwa^ (Chicago) Eric Avila- $150k + ^ (SJ) Ty Harden^ (Columbus) Milos Kocic^ (Colorado) Notes- Danny Koevermans (who I removed the injury from, along with Stefan Frei) led the way with 19 goals in 32 games and a 7.31 rating. Stefan Frei was named to the Best 11. Golden Boot- Edson Buddle (LA) with 24 goals in 32 games, tying him with Robbie Keane (same numbers!) MVP- Landon Donovan (LA) with Buddle and Keane in second and third GoY- Stefan Frei MLS Cup- Houston over Vancouver, 2-0 US Cup- Des Moines Menace over SKC, 2-1 CCL- Tigres over Chivas, 2-1 Thoughts: A decent start to my career. Was actually leading my CCL group with one game to play (against Tigres) but failed to force a result and went out. |

2013 Record: 19W 5D 10L 62pts, 3rd in Conference 42 GF 26 GA, +16 Eliminated by NE in the EC semifinal round, 5-3 Winner of the Canadian Championship over Vancouver, 3-3 (away goals) Eliminated by Cruz Azul in the CCL QFs, 5-2 Players in ($1.1 million): Lucas Janson ($1.1 mil) Bruno (free) Matt Peeters (TFC A) Draft: John Bowker Matthew West Emmanuel Oppong Kelvin Ukrop Daniel Smith Players out ($2.2 million): Keith Makubuya^ (Columbus) Jeremy Hall- $475k (Chicago) Aaron Maund^ (SJ) Reggie Lambe^ + $35k (CUSA) Nicholas Lindsay- $250k (Montreal) Eric Hassli- $1.4 mil (Ulsan) Teal Bunbury^ (Portland) Joey Gjertsen- waived Notes- A crushing loss in the playoffs to a NE squad that I led 3-1 going into the second leg. With Koevermans really showing his age, Carlos Andre steps up and leads the team with 14 goals in 32 games. A great draft, however, as two players (West and Oppong) are now capped by the US and a third (Smith) is a key back-up for my current squad. Stefan Frei is again the only player named to the Best 11. Golden Boot- Chris Wondolowski (SKC) with 24 MVP- Thierry Henry (NY) GoY- Stefan Frei MLS Cup- Vancouver over NY, 3-2 US Cup- DC over Columbus, 2-0 CCL- LA over NY, 2-2 (a) Thoughts:The playoff exit was horrible. Squad is starting to take shape, but I'm still hampered by the contracts of Koevermans, Frings and Cann in my attempt to get younger. Both Switzerland and the US are taking notice of Frei... |
