![]() Figured since I re-signed Parnaby and Alston is a young back that I want to develop, might as well sell Graye so he could possibly get playing time elsewhere. |

My 2012 draft picks-![]() ![]() ![]() Very happy that Hughes fell to us. The other teams didn't pick him because he was injured. We'll see how the other 2 turn out. |

![]() ![]() Revs Battle to Draw 1-1 in Opener _________________________________________________________ -The Foxboro Soccer Review- -Foxboro The Revs were held to only a draw by 2011 West Conference Runners-up Real Salt Lake yesterday evening. Breezy, wet conditions made for a damp opening ceremony and a tame season opener from both sides. "We never seemed to get things really going today," admitted Revs' head coach Paul Serpa, "Aside from the goal, would could've played better moving the ball through the field, creating space, opening up options for the players." The game's opening goal came in the 13' when Saer Sene on a Revs' counter attack dribbled half the length of the field to score a fine solo effort. "That was a great goal from Saer," said Serpa, "He really played well today and was unfortunate to have only one goal." Javier Morales in the 21' equalized with a long strike outside the penalty box, beating an outstretched Gaudette for the goal. "We should've closed Javier down in that situation," commented the Revs' boss, "Good players like that, you can't give them too much space or else they can beat you just like that." After the 1-1 result, a key member of the Real Salt Lake side claimed that his team were fortunate to escape this MLS game with a draw. Man of the Match: Saer Sene Attendance: 16,685 Week 1 Table

![]() ![]() New England captain Joseph and the Revs didn't have much luck at BC Place in yesterday's game. Revs Lose Big in Vancouver _________________________________________________________ -The Foxboro Soccer Review- -Vancouver Going into the game, Revs' coach Paul Serpa might have felt confident about his team's chances knowing that Vancouver had lost both their previous two games 0-3. Obviously, a different Whitecaps squad showed up tonight against Serpa's MLS Champions. Last week the Revs broke their previous club record of 12 game unbeaten streak, but tonight Vancouver broke their unbeaten run. Hard. "This is a tough pill to swallow," commented Serpa after the game. Serpa has yet to win here at BC Place, losing 2-0 last year early in the season. "As defending champions, we know there's a target on our back, that teams want to beat us. We can't let other teams do what Vancouver did tonight." Vancouver started on a flyer, with John Thorrington scoring the first goal after 7' on a shot from distance. The Revs got a goal back with forward Juan Agudelo showing his good touch, scoring in the 11' on a volley from a cross by Sear Sene. However, things never got better for the Revs after that. Jay DeMerit scored a brace of goals, in the 28' from a corner kick and again in the 36' after Clyde Simms gave up a free kick outside the penalty area. New England tried to get back into the game in the 56' when a header from Sene caused trouble for Whitecaps keeper Joe Cannon resulting in an own goal. But a goal from Eric Hassili in the 62' and a controversial goal allowed by Mattocks in the 94' gave Vancouver the 3 goal victory they deserved. "We should have no excuses for what happened today," replied Serpa, "But the worst thing we can do is mull over this loss. Although we haven't lost since last season, losing still hurts, especially by 3 goals. But tomorrow is another day, next week another game. We are moving forward." Attendance 20,644 |

![]() ![]() Fullback Kevin Alston beats FC Dallas' Brek Shea to the ball. Agudelo Brace Lifts New England Over Dallas ________________________________________________________ -The Foxboro Soccer Review- -Dallas, TX Juan Agudelo was the difference today at PizzaHut Park for the New England Revoution. His brace gave the Revs' their first win of the season. "He was good today," said head coach Paul Serpa of the young American striker, "He showed the kind of quality he possesses. The whole teamed played well today and we are glad to have our first win." Agudelo got the game going in the 9' with a perfect shot into the bottom corner of the goal from a pinpoint pass by Dulee Johnson. He got his second of the game after Dallas goalkeeper Meara couldn't collect a shot by Saer Sene and Agudelo easily scored on the rebound. "I felt really good today," said Agudelo, "It's always good to get your first goal of the season, but even better to get our first win." Coach Serpa agreed. "We can relax a bit now. We still have to work hard for each game, but now we can comfortably move ahead after getting our first 3 points of the season." Man of the Match: Juan Agudelo Attendance 12,775 Week 3 table

![]() ![]() Kevin Alston was more than LA could handle tonight, grabbing a goal and an assist in New England's 3-1 win at Foxboro. New England Triumph Over 10 Man LA ______________________________________________________ -The Foxboro Soccer Review- -Foxboro, MA Paul Serpa knew that his team would need all the help they could get against a Los Angeles side that has scored 17 goals in 4 games so far this season. But the Revs' boss surely didn't think they would get an edge over LA so soon. Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez got sent off in the 1' for a challenge on Juan Agudelo just outside the penalty area. "It obviously changed the game very early," said Serpa, "It was important for us to capitalize on our man advantage and we did." Agudelo scored in the 11' after Revs' captain Shalrie Joseph laid a nice ball in open space for the young international. However, LA threatened to make this tougher for New England when the 27' Juninho scored from long range to equalize. "LA are a very good time," said the Revs' boss, "Even with 10 mean they are dangerous because they have so many talented players out there." After the halftime break though, it was all New England. "I told the boys to keep focused," said Serpa, "They have 10 men- they can't cover everyone, everywhere. We needed to expand our game and we did with great success." In the 61', after making a great run down the right side, fullback Kevin Alston was left unmarked after receiving a through ball from Benny Feihaber before he scored an impressive goal and gave New England the lead. Alston then put a cheeky chip past LA defender De La Garza and set up a goal in the 80' in nearly duplicate fashion for midfielder Dulee Johnson to make the score 3-1. "This is an important win," commented Serpa, "It shows that we are not a one-off team, that we can beat the big teams consistently. The man advantage helped us, but it was our quality of play that was the real determining factor today." Their 2nd win of the season puts New England in 5th place, moving above NY RedBulls and 2 points behind rivals Chicago in a crowded 1st place. In the East, 4 teams are tied for 1st on 9 points. ![]() ![]() New England assistant captain Benny Feilhaber bossed the midfield and Seattle during the Revs' 3-1 victory at Gillette Stadium New England Win Title Rematch _______________________________________________________ -The Foxboro Soccer Review- -Foxboro, MA New England beat Seattle 3-1 at home last night in a rematch of last year's title game. The Revs' were powered by staunch defending and a brace from their young forward Juan Agudelo. After a slow start to the season, 3 wins in 3 games has the Revs' looking like they have returned to their championship form. "Everyone is playing really well right now," commented Revs' coach Paul Serpa, "The hard work in training is showing you the good results on the field. Hopefully we can continue with our good form." The title rematch started with a goal in the 13' from Agudelo, beating the offside trap with a through ball from Benny Feilhaber. The goal gave the Revs the early lead they wanted. "It's always important to grab an early lead, preferably in the game's opening 20 mintues," said Serpa, "I stress this to the players: an early lead can give you the control you need to win the game." Agudelo scored again for the Revs in the 25' with another assist from Feilhaber, putting New England ahead 2-0 by halftime. Seattle seemed to pull the game back with a goal by Brad Evans in the 79' from a corner kick. But a Saer Sene goal in the 85' sealed the win and points for the Revs. "Getting the 3rd goal was vital," said Serpa, "It completely put Seattle out of the game after they had gotten a goal back. Well played very well to cement our win with the 2 goal margin." Man of the Match: Benny Feilhaber Attendance: 16443 Week 5 table ![]() |

![]() ![]() Chris Tierney and the Revs couldn't do much against high flying Columbus. New England Lose Out to Columbus ________________________________________________________ -Foxboro Soccer Review- -Columbus, OH In an early preview of what might be a potential playoff match, the Columbus Crew had the upper hand over New England on Saturday. The Crew have been flying high so far this season, taking an early lead on the Eastern Conference, and continued their run of good form against the hapless MLS champions. "We just couldn't do anything right today," lamented Revs' head coach Serpa, "Poor defending, poor midfield, poor finishing. Columbus are a playoff team, so we need to play better against sides like that if we are going to defend our title." An early injury in the 2' to Benny Feilhaber didn't help the Revs either. "Initial reports indicate he will only be out a week or so," replied Serpa, "But losing him early meant we couldn't control the midfield like we wanted to." Former Rev Kenny Mansally scored in the 33' when he was open on the far side of the box to score an easy opener. Moises Orozco then put the match away in the 66' scoring a long strike after a well worked play by Columbus. "We have to close down players," said Serpa, "Too many times so far this season we've left men open and they've hurt us." New England losing puts them back into 5th in the East, 8 points behind the leaders Columbus. Man of the Match: Moises Orozco Attendance: 22,159 Week 6 table ![]() _______________________________________________________ |

![]() ![]() Revs Sign Chara _________________________________________________________ -The Foxboro Review- Paul Serpa made his first dip into the transfer market in his 2012 campaign with a player exchange of midfielders Clyde Simms with Portland's Diego Chara. Serpa commented that youth and better quality were his reasons behind the trade. Portland also get $90k as part of the deal. The young Columbian is said to be excited to play for New England in their up coming NACL campaign. New England will continue Chara's $400,000/yr deal through 2014. _____________________ |
