Whew! August was a busy month. Let's look at how we did-![]() 3 wins, 2 draws, and a loss in league, and then the Semifinal win against Richmond. Where does that leave us in the table then?- ![]() ![]() While we have a decisive 9 point lead on Houston, anything can still happen in the East. For example, if DC United were to win their 3 games in hand right now, they would jump all the way up to 3rd! Those games in hand will make for an interesting end to the season. In the West, LA have predictably locked up at least a playoff spot. RSL have a large 7 point lead over 3rd place Seattle and will be looking to follow LA into a qualification spot. The West is pretty much said and done for, unless the top teams really have a dramatic falling. With August in the books, what do we have waiting in September? ![]() Great! Only three games this month, so that means we can lick our wounds while other teams can try and catchup to us. And while we're looking online, let's see if the board have emailed their monthly update- ![]() Alright! We mad a profit last month! Let's keep the good times rolling! |

![]() We take on FC Dallas for the lone Sunday MLS game. The season is starting to wind down. Only 6 games left to go! My lineup- ![]() Great to see the boys rested up and raring to go tonight. Back to the 4-1-3-2, so we should take control tonight. Matchup- ![]() Blah, I forgot to change my formation to a 4-1-3-2, so disregard Simms being in the AMC. Pregame notes: Parnaby is set to make his 150th career league appearance and Schilawski is set to make his 50th career league and club appearance tonight. Kickoff... GOAL 20' Shea 0-1 Where's the defending? A cross into the box finds a diving Brek Shea and an opening goal for Dallas. GOAL 29' Reinaldo 1-1 That's more like it! Agudelo makes a fine run before passing the ball the Reinaldo in the box. The Brazilian striker is onside and scores a deft finish to equalize for the Revs. HT New England 1-1 Dallas Reinaldo's 2nd goal of the season gives a vital equalizer to the Revs, who were looking a bit shell shocked after that Brek Shea goal. GOAL 53' Reinaldo 2-1 He might have found his touch now. Agudelo uses some fancy footwork to get deep into the box. Surrounded by defenders, he somehow delivers the ball to Reinaldo who easily foots in the go-ahead goal. Dallas keeper Hartmann throws the ball out in disgust. FT New England 2-1 Dallas Reinaldo found his goal scoring touch today and his brace vaults the Revs to another win. Player performance GOOD: Reinaldo gets the MOTM award with an 8.8 rating and the 2 goals. Agudelo did well too at 7.4. BAD: No one. So with the victory in the books, let's look at the current table- ![]() Wins for Houston and Columbus a day ago means they leap frog over NY to take 2nd and 3rd. Our win today see us go 9 points ahead of 2nd. |

![]() A Friday game puts us in Portland Oregon to take on the Timbers at JeldWen Field. Portland in their first full MLS season are lagging in 7th, but the Timbers have a massive fan following who will create a hostile environment for the Revs tonight. My lineup- ![]() Same lineup from the last game, except my fullbacks are Polak and Alston, and I have Gaudette in goal. Reis is getting old at 36, and I'm not sure if I want to re-sign him after the season. For now Gaudette gets some extra playing time so I can judge if he is worth staying. Matchup- ![]() Where's Troy Perkins tonight? Or Nagbe? Kickoff... GOAL 20' Agudelo 0-1 An Alston cross into the box from the right is met by Juan Agudelo for the game's first goal. HT Portland 0-1 New England Agudelo's goal has the Revs in front and in charge for the moment. Playing well so far without too much trouble from the Timbers. GOAL 65' Agudelo 0-2 A throw in by Alston is received by substitute Saer Sene in the box. The young Frenchman plays it off to Agudelo who fires in his 2nd of the day. GOAL 68' Sene 0-3 When it rains it pours in Portland. Good Rev build up leads to Feilhaber hitting a one timer to Sene who breaks free of the defense and puts up a 3rd goal for New England. FT Portland 0-3 New England Great all-around win today against the Timbers. Everyone did well, and we won by more than a one goal margin. Player performance GOOD: Young Juan Agudelo gets 2 goals and the MOTM honors. BAD: No one. The table as of now- ![]() We open up a 12 point lead, but there are games tomorrow so the table will be likely change after the weekend is over. |

![]() So Mr. Pushy goes behind the club's back and spouts to the press how he isn't getting enough playing time. I've always wondered- do you really think by vocally voicing your concern to the press I will somehow give you more playing time? I don't think so buddy! ![]() And this is just funny. Maybe I should forward this to Lozano- See! Even the fans don't think you're all that great! |

![]() We're in Chicago facing our bitter rivals to close out the month of September. We already beat them twice this year, in the US Cup and in our 1st league match. Hopefully we can sweep them with a win here tonight and have all the bragging rights for the rest of the year. Chicago have been on fire recently, really making a push to get a playoff spot, so I expect them to be raring to go tonight. My lineup- ![]() Now that we are getting consistency from our lineup, I'm hoping for consistency from the players, specifically the forwards, who until recently haven't been as prolific as other forwards in the MLS this season. I have a feeling Agudelo and Reinaldo might make a good team by the end of the year. Team Matchup- ![]() Logan Pause is out with injury, but the "P's", Pardo, Puppo, Pappa, will be hard to handle again, as well as Nyarko who is a good young winger. And Clyde Simms is on to make his 150th career league appearance tonight. Kickoff... HT Chicago 0-0 New England Hard fought game so far by both sides. Chicago have had the edge on possession though, so I put the team on a counter mentality in order to combat this. Feilhaber was taken off injured around the 20', so hopefully I won't hear bad news after the game. GOAL 86' Sene 0-1 Better late than never, and it's super sub Saer Sene's goal that puts the Revs ahead. Agudelo brings the ball down the left and crosses into the box. A Chicago defender receives the cross, but the young Frenchman poaches the ball away and scores an easy goal. FT Chicago 0-1 New England Sene bails us out today, and the Revs put a dent in Chicago's run into the playoffs. We sweep our fierce rivals and send our fans home happy. Player performance GOOD: Alston is given the MOTM honors with a 7.4 rating. BAD: Reinaldo- seriously son, if you really want to stay on this team you need to live up to your ability and stop getting sub-6 ratings every other game. Let's take a look at the table- ![]() We end the week's round of games, so there is no change in the table. We open a 13 point lead on 1st and have all but locked it a 1st seed. |

After our last win-![]() ![]() What a season so far! We were never in the preseason talks of making the playoffs, let alone grabbing the #1 seed. I'm very proud of the boys and couldn't be happier for their success. The one caveat- as a #1 seed, I've seen many teams in our position fall to lower seeds in a playoff system. We need to keep the momentum going into the playoffs to ensure we have a good run and win it all. |

September flew by and now we enter October for the final month of the regular season. The last 3 games will determine those final spots for playoff hungry teams. Let's take a peek at our form from the last month- ![]() We were 3 for 3 in September and as a result locked up a semifinal spot in the MLS playoffs. So what's in store for October? ![]() Our final three games and the US Cup final against Rochester, then playoffs beyond that. Speaking of playoffs, how are things shaping up in the standings? ![]() ![]() The #1's in both conferences have booked their tickets to the playoffs. But how will the other teams end up? In the East you have a tight race. 4 points separate 2nd from 5th, so these last 3 games of the season are critical! Also, despite losing to us last week, Chicago still have a long shot with a game in hand 7 points from a guaranteed playoff spot. In the West, Real Salt Lake are close to clinching a playoff spot, as is Seattle. Dallas is a long shot for an automatic playoff berth, and is probably more concerned about San Jose below them grabbing the wildcard spot. Email from the board- ![]() As I keep winning, it's business as usual with the board. |

![]() Seattle is needing one more win to clinch a spot in the playoffs. They also have been playing well in the NACL, and will be looking to continue their good form against us. My lineup tonight- ![]() Smith in for the injured Guti, and Sene in for Reinaldo. Tonight's matchup- ![]() I said it once, I'll say it again- Seattle are a good team with good players, and fair play to them for being 3rd and doing well in the NACL group stage. We can be burned if they play well enough today. Kickoff- GOAL 10' Sene 1-0 Feilhaber passes to Saer Sene just outside the box. The young forward takes a touch then thunders home the opening goal into the top corner. GOAL 30' Agudelo 2-0 Great counter attacking play by the Revs. Smith takes a run towards the box then selflessly passes the ball onto Juan Agudelo, who passes the ball nicely into the back of the net. HT New England 2-0 Seattle Even I am surprised. The Revs have handily taken care of the Sounders so far and we need to not let up after the break. GOAL Smith 3-0 My attacking players are just taking control of this game. While on the attack, Agudelo passes the Sene, who then picks out Dwyane Smith making a blinding run into the box. Smith cannons his first Revs goal into the top of the net and now the Revs have a commanding lead. FT New England 3-0 Seattle We thoroughly dominated the Sounders today, and I'd suggest to Sigi that he needs to sort out his defensive issues if he is to make a serious run in the MLS playoffs or the latter stages of the NACL Player performance GOOD: Smith and Agudelo did very well for us today, but Sene gets the MOTM honors. BAD: No one. The table as of now- ![]() NY drew today, so that really doesn't help their chances of making the playoffs. Houston, Columbus, and surprise package Philly all play tomorrow. |

![]() He we go! The US Cup Final! The Revs have worked very hard to get to this spot, and I am very proud of them. Let's go out and get the win to bring home our second US Cup for the team! My lineup- ![]() These boys have got it done through this whole run, so I'm gonna trust them one more time to bring home the silverware. I remind the boys though, this is just another game. Don't give in to all the hype. Play your game like you know how and we'll get on just fine like we have all season. The matchup- ![]() Pretty straightforward with a 4-4-2. I plan on my 4-1-3-2 to crush them! We head out of the tunnel to a packed stadium and all the expected fanfare. I pass by the US Cup trophy and now realize just how close we are. I am kind of overwhelmed by it all, put after shaking hands and over formalities, I'm calm and cool and ready to go. Kickoff... GOAL 7' Agudelo 1-0 And we're off! Feilhaber plays a one-two with Sene before threading a through ball into space ahead of Juan Agudelo. The young striker puts away a beauty into corner of the net. HT New England 1-0 Rochester We have the lead and we now need another goal to get that 2 goal lead and take control of the game. GOAL 81' Kissi 1-1 Oh no. The Rhinos have leveled late on a Issac Kissi header. Are we headed to extra time? FT New England 1-1 Rochester Our poor play in not getting another goal leads to a late equalizer and now extra time. FT in ET New England 1-1 Rochester I'm really upset that my MLS, #1 team cannot muster more than a goal against Rochester. Now it's up to them to win this on penalties. GOAL Schilawski 1-0 MISS GOALIE SAVE Rosenlund 1-0 GOAL Reis 2-0 GOAL Donatelli 2-1 GOAL Soares 3-1 GOAL Tanke 3-2 MISS OVER THE BAR 3-2 MISS GOALIE SAVE Jagdeosingh 3-2 GOAL Smith 4-2 NEW ENGLAND WINS ON PENALTIES 4-2 We made things interesting for ourselves, but we won it in the end, and we start the celebrations! ![]() ![]() Congrats boys! |
