Yeah the draft has been moving through and progressing. I'm very happy with where it's at overall, but I recently embarked on my longest career game in some years (12 seasons) and I have long term concerns as in MLS I watched the average CA increase probably 30-40 points in that time, as part of a larger series of increases worldwide.

I'm not sure if this test is typical, because if it is, that would explain why the draft starts to get left behind.

Part of the issue-and I've harped to SI about it for a few years now-is that MLS teams are far too succesful in plundering other nations for talent. When I start a game with the top Brazilian league as playable it's a mad scramble amongst MLS clubs to snatch up high-quality players at relatively cheap salaries. Just because I add leagues/nations to the start of the game shouldn't mean that I'm now suddenly aware of thousands more players, nor should the computer.

This is an issue with FM as a whole. Finding good talent is too easy, scouting is incredibly basic, talent will nearly always adjust well to whatever league it enters, too many players leave their countries, most countries overrate their players, the way salaries demands are structured is terrible, the way teams handle salaries is terrible, needing too many coaches to have good training, player development model is outdated, CA and PA system is incredibly simple, reputation model is basic, I could go on and on.

Specifically Brazil has WAY too many good players. I know they export very good players all the time, but it's ridiculous the amount of talent you can find there in FM. Fourth division clubs with a ton of players over 100 CA. It's worse than Mexico ever was/is. It's more about depth of players than anything. Look at Serie A club Avai. Their best player has a CA of 128, but their 22nd best player has a CA of 120. That means there reserve team is good enough to be one of the best teams in the English Chamionship.

Corinthains has 45 players with a CA of over 100, 33 with CA over 120, 18 over 130. Just way too much depth.

I wanted to do a world wide analysis of all this like I did with the Mexican database a last year (or was it FM 2010?), but FM Scout won't export CA/PA data like it used to, which means it would be impossible for me to compile it all by hand.

All in all, FM simply feels like a computer game rather a simulation.

Yeah, this is a very valid gripe.

It also pisses me off that when I bid for some really random player another team (usually from my own league) comes from out of nowhere with a competing bid. Even if, for example, he's been a free agent for 6 months.
